Good Day Natasha

I want to bring the following to your attention, for future reference. Please don’t get me wrong I am not one of those people who like to complain if it isn’t necessary, but for the price we paid for the weekend leaves me with no choice but the bring it to your attention.

No 1 – Please see attached pictures, we could not bath our little daughter in the bath with the jets ( which we specifically booked because she would have liked the bubbles it makes ) as there was some kind of brown muck coming out of the jets – not sure if it was dirt or what, but had to take a shower with her both nights – which was a mission on its own.

No 2 - The water that came out of the shower absolutely smelled SO bad, we had to let the water run for almost 5min (wasting precious water) every time someone had to shower. Let alone the poor water pressure coming through the shower head!

No 3 – We had no teaspoons in the room/kitchen that we could find anywhere, thus we had coffee both mornings at the restaurant at an additional cost.

No 4 – Your turndown setup was absolutely not even worth the R800! I understand that there is a fee for the personal touches ect ( the whole out lay with the petals ect was very nice I must say ). However the bottle of champagne was R 125, the slippers was probably not even R100 for both pairs, the gowns which we couldn’t even keep cost nothing, the chocolate brownies give or take R100 and then the rose petals doesn’t even add up ANYTHING close to the R800 charged. I could have bought our own treats ect for much less and have had more joy from it, the only reason why we took the turndown was because of the thought that we could keep everything including the gowns ( now you know what people get up to with the idea of the turndown with the gowns ect and then it all gets reused- no man!

No 5 – The game drive on Saturday we booked for 9am, we got there only to be looked at and got told we never booked for a time slot. I had to show you on my phone on my email that you responded to confirming our time slot for 9am, then asked if we could move our time to later. You frantically phoned the other guests who “booked” only to find out none of them actually pitched up and there was space for us to go as per our booking for 9am ( we were only 4 adults and our daughter on the trip ). We had booked all of this more than 2 weeks ago!

No 6 – The food in the restaurant’s prices are insane for what you get, thank goodness our meals were included

Stunning location and surroundings. The nature just outside your doorstep of the chalet is breathtaking, and our kids were in awe of the emu's, ostrich, so many types of deer/antelope, wildebeest, giraffe etc etc that roam the property. Staff are wonderful and very accommodating with our requests. Absolutely beautiful and the view from the restaurant is amazing. Some things that do need work/upgrade at the location included: Putt Putt course is in very poor shape, chalet toilets seems blocked with adjacent chalet units (we could hear toilets bubbling up during the night), mould in bathroom corner ceiling, main bedroom ceiling.light and fan was out of order (although they did provide a free standing unit as interim), chair on chalet patio area was broken posing a safety risk. Over and above these minor problems, the Rain Farm Lodge is a great location for family getaways. I definitely recommend it. TO add - the braai area in Warthog is so comfortable and spacious, we have great memories and will definitely return!!

A hidden Gem just 15min away from Ballito.
My wife and I spent our Honey Moon at the Lodge. I was in awe of the excellent service. Esmeri at Reception was so accommodating ,assisting us with our activities being so friendly and caring . Lawrence also assisted us with the setup of our room ,Picnics and Dinner. He went out if his way with so many of our requests!. Tyron our Game guide was awesome . He had extensive knowledge of the lodge and the developments. Really helpful and friendly. Amos at the restuarant served us up with mouth watering breakfasts ! Awesome speed of service and real value for money . Victor helped us overcome our fears at the adventure centre with the absailing !. The cherry on the top was the Spa. A perfect way to destress with a full body massage and treatment.
The units are fully fitted and air-conditioned with amazing views . My review doesn't give the full justice. I would advise any age group ,family ,friends or work colleagues to make sure they visit this beautiful lodge. Literally on our doorstep!.

Good day.

I just want to say a big thank you to the management and staff of the Rain Farm.
My family and I truly had a memorable time during our stay.

From the initial interactions with Lawrence and Natasha, from booking to checking in,
it was an absolute pleasure to liaise with them.

The restaurant staff were extremely helpful and accommodated every request asked of them.
The Warthog guest house was well equipped and catered for our basic needs.
We even had visits from the Giraffe on two occasions. 😊

The game drive was just so beautiful, one of the highlights for both the kids and us.
Peter was excellent at navigating the terrain and giving us some background on the different animals.

We will be back in the future and will definitely recommend this experience to friends and family.

Kind Regards

Joel and Family.

What a gem! The staff are the most friendly, efficient, well spoken people. From Reception to the restaurant, from the Spa to the Game Driver, I found the staff did all they could to welcome us with warmth. The chalets are of a really good standard - perhaps the outdoor showers could get a bit more power and volume to the flow. Beds very comfortable. The road noise is a difficult thing, unless speed humps are introduced. The game drive was made very interesting by Peter the guide, who engaged us in a lot of interesting facts. The food was simple but perfectly done!! It's also beautifully presented. Probably the best massage I've had in years by Malicent, at the Spa, with lovely music to soothe the soul! My only complaint is the picnic basket food. This was very disappointing, considering the restaurant food is so delicious. It was very bland, and no butter or sauces/dressings were included. The basket is expensive for what one gets, so this is not something I would repeat. But overall, a most wonderful weekend away.

I used to love recommending friends and family to this "hidden gym".
Took a friend from Johannesburg for her birthday treat for the day. Booked for a game drive, massage and lunch.
Staff are always extremely friendly and pleasant.

Game drive was average. Ranger very knowledgeable about antelopes and other limited animals. Vehicles need upgrading.

Massages
One of the toilet in the bathroom was dirty. It made the entire bathroom smell.
Spa facility
Average body massage in Ballito and surrounds R450 to R470.
Rain Form R650. Was expecting an unforgettable experience for this price.
All I can say is I have never experienced such a confused massage, it was a combination of Swedish, Thai and some other skills that I cannot give a title too. I could not complete the after massage review because at that stage I had nothing to say.
We canceled lunch because we were traumatized from our experience and there was a strong smell of "old" oil coming from the kitchen area.
We laughed all the way home. We freshened up and untangled our hair and went to a restaurant in Ballito for a late lunch.
Might still recommend the game drive but definitely not the spa.
Besides the pool area the entire place looks tired. Not sure about its 3star rating.
My friend got up with a painful body the next day. I was so embarrassed.

Response from Cara Nidd, Owner at Rain Farm Game Lodge & Spa
Responded 09 May 2021
Response Covid protocols are exactly the same if not more than any other restaurant/establishment in South Africa. Your temperature was taken at reception, hands sanitized and details taken down. This is considerably more than when you go to the local supermarket and get your hands "sprayed" before entering an inclosed space with a hundred other customers. Every effort is taken to ensure that our guests feel comfortable and at ease when having to go through the protocols, instead of it been another tedious task to go through. !.Vehicles need upgrading - There is a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero game viewer that had been purchased, so not sure which vehicle you are referring too? 2. Bathrooms and main lodge area are cleaned and serviced by Service Royale who are governed by the highest standards, I have referred your comment and complaint onto them for further investigation. 3.Besides the pool area the entire place looks tired. This comment has us completely baffled as the entire lodge and surrounds have just gone through major renovations, including and not limited to the bar, reception and units. A significant amount of money was spent, which is extremely rare in the current economic circumstances. This remark is completely out of line. 4. The spa therapist explained the type of massage that was going to be given prior to the treatment, with specific reference to the various techniques that they would incorporate. 5. The owner took time to respond to you while on leave to address your complaint, he asked for you to please make notes in email, but it seems you felt it better to make use of the social media route.

Our stay was a wonderful experience. The meals that was served was of the best quality and the portion sizes was great from starters to main as well as the breakfast was fantastic. The sounds of nature was soothing and calming. Our game drive was lovely and in general we had a great time. Our kids loved it and now especially with the start up of the horses which will be a great add on to the Rain Farm. Thanks

In the eleventh hour of realising that its the end of school holidays and we never spent time with our kids we searched for a holiday that will suitable to both kids and adults. In out of ideas. We decided to go to Rain Farm. We called their booking desk, advised to send an email requesting booking and within an hour we received our invoice. We arrived same day to our beautiful luxury Waterbuck chalet, everything clean and fresh. All staff members are so friendly and accommodative (felt like we were vising a relative) very warm atmosphere. My kids even made friends there. The restaurant provided delicious meals, I like the fact that breakfast being (included in the booking) was not usual buffet, it was ale carte menu therefore we ordered to our pallet. The game drive was great the kids enjoyed seeing the zebras and giraffes. I can write so much but want to sincerely appreciate a lady named Khanyo who took care of us and knew what my kids would enjoy and eat. A big ups to the guys at the bar they sure took good care of my husband 😊. Thank you Rain Farm
Family we shall return again
