The entrance is impressive....and thats where it ends.
Poor service.
The rooms are old and not well kept.
The dogs mess the garden and is not cleaned.
Old towels and bedding.
The breakfast is only bacon and eggs if you make it on time.
There is no cereals or or pastries or anything else.
I actually checked out earlier.

The place is neat but the service is really very bad. The room is very small and has only one wine glass - no water was supplied. The TV is on the dressing table where you look at yourself in the mirror if you watch TV. There was no hot water! They forgot to switch on the geyser!. The breakfast were not good. We booked for dinner but is was cancelled three hours before dinner due to the department of labour who was there. What they forgot is that we stayed there and there was nobody from the department. The lady running the place is not friendly. No small tables in the room - there were also pre-prepared coffee ad my wife does not drink sugar. What bad experience. I do not recommend this guest house for anybody. We left a day earlier just to get away! Perhaps this is the reason why is is callled the Getaway - You want to always get away from it!

It was a very bad experience. Rather I should say it was the worst one in my life. There were a whole group of us and all had this same view. The guest house was terribly dirty.. dog poop in gardens, pool was dirty, towels, bedding and everything here was untidy. Breakfast was poor. There was a special rule. One cannot eat or drink anything in rooms. I don't know what rule is this. Everything in Room was shaking and would fall down even if its touched by mistake. Lighting is poor.. No Lights on outside of rooms for balcony. NOT A SINGLE STAFF MEMBER LITERALLY. Only owner and her daughter were taking care of everything. Please do not Stay here Ever.

I had too on short notice arrange accommodation due to business over the festive season. All Guesthouses were not able to help me over the period. Imke and Veronique were very professional in after indicating they cannot help me for the period to revert back and confirming accommodation over the period and what a beautiful place over looking the Indian Ocean

Excellent guesthouse for the business traveler. Beautiful rooms, stunning 180 degree view over the Indian ocean! I received excellent service! I have no idea what 3 other reviewers talked about complaining about service. This was definitely not my experience, in fact I found the staff to be most friendly. They made my stay a memorable experience. Will definitely visit Getaway again and have no problem to recommend to any business traveler!! PS. Ask for the room on the top floor with balcony and braai! Guesthouses don’t get much better than Getaway

The guest house is dirty, dust is everywhere and we had to ask for our bedding to be changed one time and another we had to ask for towels to be changed. Juice with breakfast is not real fruit juice - some cordial or another. Not suitable for kids and the STAFF is the MOST unfriendly you'll ever find! The only thing going for them is the building from outside looks good and is well positioned a block away from the sea.

Thanks to the manageress, Irene, we were so warmly welcomed in this wonderful building. Very tastefully decorated with huge rooms and the most beautiful bathrooms. Trust bar where you may help yourself. Friendly staff. Right near the Amanzimtoti birdpark and beach. Breakfast was delightful. Artistically decorated lounge, tranquil and very quiet. Very clean and service was good.
