I recently stayed at the Sandton Lodge Rivonia Johannesburg on business. The lodge is very well appointed, with good well furnished rooms, magnificant gardens and two outdoor swimming pools.
It was a very good stay and the staff were most friendly and helpful.
If you need a quiet place to stay in busy Johannesburg the Sandton Lodge is to be highly recommended.

I booked this accommodation online from Australia hoping all would be well. I was not disappointed. I was picked up on time at the airport as arranged by an attentive family member (son of owner) and arrived at a wonderful lodge securely set in beautiful gardens. My room was immaculately set out with new fittings and a spacious bathroom. I had dinner and breakfast in the dining room that felt more like visiting friends. Everyone I dealt with was fantastic and it was only too easy to organise lodge transport again to an outing during the afternoon.

Friends of ours in Joburg reccomended the Sandton and we were exceptionally surprised. The Sandton is in a lovely residential neighborhood, quiet yet within a short distance from shopping and dining. We felt as though we were very welcome guests at a friend's house. Bridget and her husband were the perfect hosts. There was the perfect amount of interaction, help when we needed it yet total privacy.
The rooms, we were lucky enough to have a peek of several, are exceptionally large, hip in decor, clean as a pin. All of the rooms overlook the lovely, well tended gardens with either balconies on patios. Bathrooms are spacious with luxurious, new fixtures and a tub and large glassed in shower.
A large dining room, also with a deck available for outside dining, was the breakfast area. Your custom breakfast is prepared apon ordering. The lovely, on site staff of 3 women, take your order after you peruse the menu with eggs prepared any way you like, side orders of mushrooms or tomatos, toast of brown or white bread, coffee or tea. There also is a buffet set up with yogurt, a selection of cereals, milk and juice.
There is also a very interesting a la carte menu set up for room service or you have the option of ordering in from a variety of local restaurants.
A lovely pool in the garden with shaded seating is another treat.
The Sandton goes far beyond the usual B and B or hotel in service. When we returned to our room at night, we found our hand washed clothes neatly folded and a nice piece of good quality chocolate on our pillow!
This will definitely be our place to stay in Joburg!
Oh yes, Bridget also suggested our driver, Jabu to pick us up from and return us to the airport. What a wonderful and thoughtful man with such style. He also took us on a day trip to the Lion Park at what we felt were reasonable rates!

Small bed (double) seems inadequate in a bedroom that could accept a bigger size. Cold stone floors. No satellite TV. We were only provided 1 bath towel and it was very thin and old, when we asked for an additional towel we were told that housekeeping had closed and they would only assist us in the morning! If its raining there is no protection or covered walkways to your room.

Besides enjoying the beautifully kept gardens we wouldn't stay here again.

spacious, African / Middle Eastern vibe, large gardens, very comfortable beds, good value for the facilities, nice staff. No bar. But a lovely retreat from the madness of Jo'burg traffic. Decent breakfast.
