Detailed Reviews
We frequent this hotel twice to three times a year. The service is always of the same high standard. The staff is well trained.
Walt Disney many years ago introduced a customer service concept called "seemless happiness" which was demonstrated as a little boy eating an ice cream. The ball of ice cream fell to floor. From the side of the screen appeared a hand which wiped away the ice cream. From the other side of the screen appeared a hand which gave the boy a new ice cream. This is the experience I have from the Michaelangelo. It just works seemlessly

We stayed for 2 nights on a cricket tour. We were surprised that the tour company picked such a high quality hotel. This is definitely a 5 star hotel, the rooms are quality beds are so comfortable, bathrooms are also top quality. The staff are so helpful nothing seems too much trouble. The buffet breakfast was very good. The room I had had a balcony overlooking Nelson Mandela square it was on the 5th floor so it was not noisy.

Stayed here for a week and was very happy with the overall experience. To begin with we were upgraded to a suite straight away. Room was big and comfortable and bathroom was adequate. Staff are really well mannered and the indoor swimming pool was of a decent size. Breakfast was excellent and all food and coffee in the lobby was brilliant. The hotel is on the Nelson Mandela square where you will find the best steak and wine at really low prices. The mall is very convenient and offers everything you need including a cinema.

I have stayed here now a couple of times...and it’s a nice hotel, but their sister-hotel, the DaVinci, is more modern and now my preference.
The rooms are extremely dated, and the wifi is spotty. I have also used issues with hot water on both occasions of my stay.
My biggest pet peeve, however, is that there are no plugs or sockets next to the bed...nor are there clocks in the room. This is always a bit frustrating in the morning when you’re trying to figure out what time it is.
But the staff is amazing!! And always overly helpful.

Stayed here on a business trip and it was perfect.
Located at the end of the Gautrain from the airport it was very easy to find.
The hotel is big with a number of restaurants and a great reception area. The fact that its part of the shopping centre just helps you get around and do a bit more.
The staff were very friendly and helped make this a pleasant stay with their warm welcome. The rooms were clean and tidy and very spacious.
The bar area is good and comfortable to drink by yourself or with guests. As for the breakfast, very filling and tasty.
Thank you, I'll be staying again next time.

What to say. It is just nice. Elegant. Stylish. Smilish.
Everything works perfectly. We had a 7 day biz stay. Every evening joining the piano bar lounge. Either drink ordered came like a film star statue.

This is an amazing hotel to stay at. Location is great with the Nelson Mandela Square and shopping malls. The hotel is very well appointed reflecting its historical charm. The rooms are large and beautifully finished. We found the service at all places in the hotel executed with perfection. Special mention to our concierge,' Archie Christodolides' for his warm welcome and effortlessly making any arrangements we required. Also the bar personnel were extremely friendly. Special mention to Gaya and Stephan. I could not fault any staff member we ran across at either neat the rooms or lifts.
We will definitely stay there next time.

I spent the last week at Michelangelo Hotel during a business trip to Johannesburg, and I can’t think of one thing negative to report. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Levy and Tony for helping me when I left my phone in the back of an Uber. They went above and beyond to get it back to me, and I’m very appreciative. The food and drink were good. The entire hotel was clean, and there are plenty of amenities to make guests comfortable. This will be my “go-to” hotel when I come to Johannesburg. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience!

While the location is excellent the hotel is old and dated. Has a very old school feel.service was great and breakfast had an excellent selection. Great views of Nelson Mandela square. Not convinced the price range equates with what's on offer.

Great hotel with excellent staff who helped before and during stay. Party upgraded to suites. Lovely rooms with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. Breakfast especially good with excellent selection, in particular for vegetarians. Staff throughout the hotel go out of their way to provide excellent service. Some of the best service I’ve experienced on my travels. Good gym and nice bar. Direct access into the mall. Felt very safe as single female in and outside hotel in this area. Will definitely be hotel of choice when returning to Joburg.

Hi
Yes we do have interleading rooms.
Our Superior room type interlead as well as our Premier Suite which interlead with a deluxe room type.
Gym is very basic. Two treadmills only and the gym equipment needs a complete upgrade. I would say the sauna/steam room facilities are fine. Swimming pool a bit on the small side - probably good for kids only.
I don't believe there are plans to upgrade the rooms. What I have been advised is that there is another hotel to be built very nearby (by the same owner) which will be a lot more modern and business focused.
Yes it’s all part of the Santon mall to a degree
This is a five star hotel where the superior room was opulent with large living area and superior bathroom. Not sure about deluxe
No it's very poor however 3 mins away is a virgin center which is excellent.
