We were there for 8 nights . We booked two rooms

Some staff were really polite

Negatives
House keeping wouldn’t top up shower gel, no clean towels, they wouldn’t leave us clean cups, they would leave the used cups and not replenish.
We got one robe per room meaning although we had 2 people per room. (We booked 2 rooms for 4 people)

On three occasions time, we ordered food and easy would come back after 20 minutes or more to say they had run out.
One time we went for a tour without eating as our food was late . We ordered at 11.50 , the waitress came at 12.18 to tell us there was no food. The food was brought 7 minute before our departure . We still paid for it . Second time food came 23 minutes before departure .

Some staff are not very well mannered and polite, you don’t really get a please or thank you.
In the afternoon if you want food you order from the bar but kids are not allowed in the bar !!! So it’s not really family friendly so you have to go out to eat even when it’s raining and you don’t feel like going out. It’s the first place I have come across whereby kids can’t eat in the bar .

From like 4am, it’s noisy as you have air line staff departing and then house keeping starts knocking at your door regardless of a privacy sign really early. You don’t really get a good night sleep . They were waking up the kids each morning.

Thanks for making our stay very enjoyable. The staff from the front desk was really great during the arrival (Thuli), our stay (Beverly & Sanjay), Laura for out check out. The room were ok and comfortable. Decent space. Though during our stay there were rolling brown/black outs. Like it became dark for a few minutes in and out for like maybe 4 to 5 times during our stay and during the night. Especially when we were eating at the restaurant.
Great accommodation to our bartender Sam, he was the best and most accommodating friendly and nice to talk to as well as Velencia.

An honourable mention goes out to Beverly for her SUPERB customer service. She made an early check-in possible, upgraded to a room on a higher floor and attended to every query I had with great enthusiasm. Communication was done through the Hilton Honors app which I found to be convenient – the response time from the agent was within minutes. The hotel is a tad outdated, however, it still has the feel of a 5-star hotel. The bed is super comfortable. The shower on the other hand was difficult to operate at first with regards to getting the right temperature of the water. Nonetheless, the breakfast service was amazing, and the hotel obeyed all COVID-19 protocols. The hotel is within a healthy walking distance to nearby restaurants and the Sandton city precinct. Would return!

Third time I have stayed here. Upon arrival I was asked if I wanted a trolley, not help with my bags. Checking in I was offered Deluxe room as my upgrade when I know there were suites available. Every other Hilton I stay at will put me at least in a suite if it is available. The room we were put in (209) was a connecting room with another room and we could hear everything. One of the worst rooms I have ever had at a Hilton. Room service pizza tasted like frozen supermarket pizza. The executive lounge staff are singularly the most unfriendly group I have ever experienced in that role. Furthermore, 3 times my wife was aggressively approached by staff asking if they could help her, but the tone was more asking why she was there. As a woman of color, my wife was infuriated.

Pros:
Comfortable room, competitive price

Cons:
Diamond member do not get any benefit apart from getting access to the lounge. No upgrade despite the hotel being completely empty. Hotel clearly does not care about Diamond members.
It was my birthday and every single year, I spend it in a branded hotel for the occasion. Hotels usually offer an amenity, some even offer a bottle of wine or champagne. However, this hotel offered absolutely nothing, not even a mention happy birthday.
The club lounge was opened, but had such a poor offering. Two evening canapes were offered at night, of such bad and unhealthy quality. Absolutely nothing apart these two hot offerings. What is the point to run a lounge then?
We were there on New Year Eve.. samosa and breaded chicken wings type KFC were the special treats!!
The breakfast was probably the poorest we got in all hotels we stayed in South Africa. Even Protea Hotel does a better work. No healthy options apart from fruits and hot tomatoes and hot mushrooms. When asking if we can have some mix salad, the restaurant supervisor told us we had to pay for it. This is the very first Hilton property to experience this poor service.
We are in 2021, guests turn into more healthy options, the hotel seems to still have not realized it.
Regarding the facilities, the pool area is very nice with a nice garden, but this fitness is so gloomy with ancient equipments!!
Overall, this hotel needs a radical change of offering and step up to levels of Hilton worldwide.
Better to charge a higher rate and offers a minimum of satisfaction

We are staying here for two nights and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay so far.

Breakfast is excellent. Our Executive Floor room is comfortable. The Executive Lounge is open until late but needs to label the food servings that are offered instead of having guests to ask. The staff in the lounge are very welcoming and friendly.

The Concierge was helpful with transportation questions we had and all staff are friendly.

The complimentary Shuttle Bus to the nearby Sandton City Mall is normally on time. Suggest the shuttle bus should put a Hilton name on it for guests to be able to identify the bus when returning from the Mall.

The hotel does live up to the Hilton name. Appreciate the early check-in and late check-out they gave me in consideration of my Gold Membership

Will definitely stay here again..

I’m an experienced traveler and this time Hilton dropped the ball!

No welcome as an Honors member on check in.

On entering room bathroom had a feculent odor

TV in room didn’t work.
Cupboard handle was broken.

The breakfast service was disappointing. The cappuccino was terrible. I can do better as a home barista.

Breakfast service was slow and you had to ask for simple things like water 4 times and wait 30 mins for it.

They accused me of not paying for parking on checkout whilst it was their issue of not allocating my payment property!
Also why do you need to pay for parking in the first place!

Really pathetic for a landmark Hilton property

Unfortunately, despite staying here on several occasions previously, with the exception of one or two very friendly/professional staff, the service has been extremely disappointing.

Since check-in, I have faced a myriad of issues including room allocations, people singing and making a hell of noise past midnight on a Sunday in the hallways. A Breakfast which was entirely inedible on top of a generally indifferent attitude from staff.

While i travel to SA frequently for business and always enjoy being here, sadly I will not be staying in the Hilton again

My husband and I stayed overnight. This hotel is in a convenient location, close to good restaurants and other places of interest in the Sandton area. Our room was not ready even though we booked in advance and checked in late afternoon. Other commentary about the hotel:
1. Friendly staff, especially the executive floor area.
2. Ample, but tight dark parking spaces
3. Great security and good food
4. The rooms are ok, but not spacious

Overall apart from our room not being ready on time, we had a pleasant stay.

Check in good with friendly reception staff. Room was not ready on arrival so we went for a drink in the bar and staff came to tell us when it was ready and took luggage to the room.
Overall, some positive points about this property but also a number of negatives.
Positives: Executive Room 609 had a great view. Executive lounge had excellent canapes in the evening. Restaurant breakfast had a very good range of dishes. Traders restaurant has a choice of buffet or a la carte, both reasonably priced. Friendly staff working in the bar area.
Negatives: executive room did not have much wardrobe storage space and the TV was small compared to most hotels today.Executive lounge had very little in terms of canapes for vegetarians and food was not labelled as to what the dishes were. On the first night the member of staff in the lounge did not really know what she was doing eg. drinks not put outon display and had to ask what was available. Decor in the Executive lounge is old and shabby. Carpet was old and not cleaned as food was on the floor. Chairs were dirty and stained. Breakfast scrambled eggs on the hot counter in the restaurant tasted like they were made with powder but if you asked for fresh scrambled eggs on the egg station, they they were very good. Hash browns were really salty. First evening we asked for the "Beyond burger". This was definately not Beyond as it did not look or taste like the real product. Clearly we were served a substitute vegetarian burger.
Air conditioning was not working properly in room 609 and temperature stayed at 24 degrees so we changed to room 647. There were lots of little problems with the room. TV was not working properly (it was changed), light in the wardrobe would not switch off due to a loose wiring connection and some lightbulbs needed replacing. These are not the standards that one expects from Hilton.
Reception staff were fantastic in trying to help me locate where I could buy Mampoer, a local spirit drink. They phoned around many places but unfortunately could not find it in stock anywhere.
So, overall, it was a good stay but spoilt by some problems that should have been corrected and regularly checked.

Hi, We got an uber the first time, but it's a walk to E2 to find it, we now book a car through booking com it's dearer but they take care of everything, it's still very inexpensive. The Gautrain is good but you might experience a lot of problems getting an uber for the short journey to the hotel.

"Load shedding is in full effect in South Africa. When the power goes out it takes the hotels generators about 2 minutes to turn on electricity"
