On a recent business trip I needed a venue that was convenient and which would allow me to work from the hotel - whilst a great supporter of Tsogo Southern Sun, I had not stayed at the Katherine Street Hotel previously and was astounded at the levels of personal attention,comfort and service excellence. The mix of guests was interesting, from foreign tourists, general visitors and business folk, all seemed entirely at ease and exceptionally well accommodated. The restaurant and adjoining seating areas around the pool and gardens provide a perfect area to relax and or dine with guests and staff attention to detail is exceptional. The hotel is small and offers ideal access to O R Tambo International, Sandton City and business districts of Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg.

The Southern Katherine Street goes down as an old school hotel with modern touches. The common areas appeared renovated and modern. The rooms themselves are outdated yet very well maintained and clean. In fact I actually loved the rooms, its classic ambience and size. The need was huge and really comfy along with superior quality bedding and pillows. The bathroom was just as reflective of the room. The onsite restuarant served a really good breakfast with all hot options ordered from a menu. All in all I recommend the hotel although it might cater for those looking for more modern rooms.

Although we only stayed for one night, we enjoyed our stay. Travelling with young kids - room-service breakfast is always one of the winning points for this hotel. The dining service ladies are always friendly and courteous. The suite size and kitchenette are additional reasons that make us repeat guests. The bathroom in the suite we stayed needs a bit of attention, however; the shower tap was broken.

I received the worst reception from one DanielaG. Not sensitive to the fact that I was a solo traveler and gave me the farthest room even though there were superior rooms available closer to other amenities, which I had paid for. Thank God one Siyabonga and another lady came to my rescue and had me allocated another room. My checkout experience was also the worst with the same DanielaG. Not the best person for front desk and dealing with foreign clients🤦🏾♀️
The Kelsey restaurant staff and meals were pleasant always as well as all the other staff, but my bad reception set the tone for my entire stay 👎🏾

Was in the 1 bed apartment with a balcony. Staff was absolutely nice all the way through. Keep it up you guys. It was clean and everything was just great. Very few occasions i got a house keeper who didn't clean well enough or replace the toiletries but a call to housekeeping sorted it out.. Breakfast was okay too and the few times i had dinner the food was good. Would definitely go there again.

Room was good but air conditioning unit didn’t work. Breakfast was great, nice coffee. Location a bit strange but there is a free shuttle service to the mall and Sandton Sun which is great but ends at 7pm.

A rather overdue review, but good service is never forgotten. My stay during a work conference was nothing short of extraordinary. I was graciously upgraded to a luxurious suite that exceeded all expectations. The spaciousness, elegant finishes, and attention to detail made for an exceptional experience.
The hotel staff were outstanding, displaying genuine warmth and a commitment to ensuring a perfect stay. Every interaction, from check-in to housekeeping, was characterized by professionalism and attentiveness.

This hotel has a central location and my room was spacious. Safe parking is provided in close proximity to the rooms. I was surprised to find that the room has a small kitchenette. I decided to order room service and it was convenient to have a sink. Room service took a while to deliver my cold drink but I did not mind on this occasion. The bed was comfortable.
The warm breakfast looked good. I did not have much time and opted for yogurt and fruit. If salmon was provided it would have been my first choice.
I would stay at this hotel again in the future.

With a great central location, this hotel is quite well equiped. The athmosphere is welcoming, with a great pool side and bar, right in the middle of a nice garden. The rooms are large with great bed and nice bathroom. Most of them have a balcony or terrasse. The staff is very kind and helpful. I will definitely come back to feel at home when traveling.

Yes, it does, but it stops fairly early in the evening. If you call the hotel, however, they will send a taxi to pick you up. This refers to the shuttle to Mandela Square.

yes but it is charged for. alternatively try using the gautrain to sandton as the hotel has a free gautrain shuttle that runs from 06:00 - 18:00 daily.

Free wi-fi is available through out the hotel. Breakfast is not included as a standard. Depending on which channel you book throuigh, you can ask for it to be added on and then included in the rate. Breakfast is charged at R160.00 per person.

No the kitchenette corner is only for superior rooms and suites. Standard rooms have a tea and coffee tray with kettle, tea pot and cups with coffee, sugar and milk with 2 biscuits only.
When booking the hotel I would suggest you enquire if they can upgrade you into a room with a kitchenette.
