Nice hotel in a fabulous location - perfect for a few days stopover enroute Kruger..
We arrived a day late due to issues with our flight and the hotel were happy to refund our first night. The Hotel is in the heart of Sandton and connected directly to the mall which made it perfect our stay with children..
The only downside would be that the family rooms are on the first two floors and this isn’t ideal as the noise from the bar outside and from the lobby area can carry on late into the evening..
There is only a continental buffet, but you are able to order a full breakfast A la Carte and the staff were happy to oblige with our requests. Also, a few more halal options would have been welcome.

We stayed at the Sandton Sun for 1 night before leaving for Kruger National Park for my wife and It's honeymoon.
First off, the inside of the hotel is beautiful. They have this massive chandelier that is spectacular. On arrival, the guest service was spectacular. Nkanyiso welcomed us at the check in, and upgraded us to the presidential Suite. He let us know that they were going to decorate our room and it would be up to us if we wanted to refresh ourselves and then let them decorate or if we wanted to get lunch, Nkanyiso would call us when our room was ready.
The hotel has a shuttle service that can take you anywhere within a 5km radius. We took it to have Lunch at Artistry JHB, which had really good food.
On arrival, Nkanyiso had a team member take us to our room and give us a tour of all the amenities available. This room was just amazing. The hotel took extra care of us because it was our honeymoon. They had the room decorated and a complimentary bottle of red and champagne.
The views of the city, the rooftop Jacuzzi, then entire suite itself was amazing. The service that we received was outstanding. Our biggest regret is that we were only able to stay one day

I spent a week at the Sandton Sun Hotel for a wedding. It was a lovely hotel with such impeccable service across the board. I had no issues during my stay here at the Sandton Sun.
You can access the Sandton Mall via floor level 6 of the hotel without having to go outside of the hotel building externally. They have a spa place which is up the escalator from the lobby. Unfortunately due to a busy schedule I was unable to use this facility.
The rooms were well cleaned and provided enough toiletries each day. They provided two bottles of water when housecleaning team came around. They also provided one extra bottle and a chocolate in the evening when they do bed adjustment in preparation for bed time.
A wide range of breakfast selection which is included in the package. Breakfast is served from 07:00-10:30.
My stay at the Sandton Sun was such a delight that I felt safe at all times and staffs were all friendly with great customer service skills. I highly recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.

This hotel is located in a new district of Johannesburg within a large shopping mall and is practically directly connected to Mandela square. It is the best solution, although expensive, to stay overnight in this city as it is very dangerous to shoot alone. The rooms are very spacious, equipped with all the comforts but the thing that struck us most is the breakfast which is simply superb. Car parking is available for a fee.

We stayed at the Sundton Sun Hotel in Johannesburg for two nights as part of our South African tour. The hotel is modern and has around 20 floors. It is located in one of Johannesburg's better districts, namely the banking, business and stock exchange district. So it is a relatively safe neighborhood in the largest city in South Africa. Directly attached to the hotel or in the same complex is a large shopping mall with Nelson Mandela Square. In this respect, it is a very safe area with a lot of (even high-priced designer) shops and a lot of gastronomy.
We had room 23 on 12. Floor. The room was very large, comfortable and generously equipped. Has a very adequately dimensioned and comfortable bed. The bathroom was very comfortable and correspondingly large. The room left nothing to be desired, everything worked perfectly.
There was breakfast buffet which was very richly equipped. Egg dishes and hot drinks had/could be ordered a la carte.
The staff was absolutely friendly and always helpful.

The Sandton Sun really is the go to hotel in Joburg. From the extra courteous doormen, to the very welcoming and knowledgeable reception personnel, the very well sized room and amenities, I struggle to dislike anything about the hotel and the services they offer. Each interaction was pure joy - the food, the staff ( even maintenance men) and the ambience of this facility left me with a home away from home feeling. I loved being able to stroll to the Sandton mal and back. I enjoyed my stay so much I wanted to extend it but they had no availability. Although it is pricey it is well worth it! I am definitely returning to Sandton Sun 🌞

Very, very nice and quick check-in. Great people who looked after me and my suitcase, right up to and including my room on the 27th floor. The hotel has its own entrance to the Sandton Mall, which is perfect, especially in bad weather. The small bistro on the 27th floor was perfect for me, quiet, dignified and still a good selection of food and drinks at breakfast as well as at "aperit time" the evening before. I traveled from Kruger Park and had plenty of laundry to wash in the hotel. The laundry was washed and ironed and delivered to my room the same day even though that wasn't necessary, service at its best! Staff, especially in the bistro on the 27th floor, great! Friendly! We travelled as a family of 5 ( 2 adults and 3 kids) booked 2 rooms. At check in they managed to give us rooms next to each other. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The direct access to the sandton city mall is a great advantage. Breakfast was also delicious with lots of fruits and other healthy options, my kids really enjoyed the chicken and mayo sandwiches.
