We were moving to Johannesburg from overseas and we were fortunate to book ourselves in Ten on Edison. Those of us who have stayed there think of it as a guest home rather than a guest house. It is a home away from home. Judy and Hilton are warm and welcoming hosts. My wife was recovering from a shoulder operation when we arrived and Judy went out of her way to make her as comfortable as she could. She arranged to get extra pillows for her and recommended a doctor who we could go and see about her physiotherapy. As newcomers to the Sunninghill area, we turned to Judy and Hilton for advice on all types of matters, including auto rentals, cell phone service, taxi services, house hunting and furniture shopping. In the evenings Judy and Hilton would frequently sit outside near the pool or in the gazebo and would invite us to have drinks and chat with them. Hilton is a master at the braai and a gracious host and we enjoyed their hospitality quite a few times when they organized dinners and braais. They also introduced us to some of the restaurants in the area.

The guest home has lovely cottages with thatched roofs. We stayed in a suite with a living, dining and kitchenette area and a separate bedroom. Judy had stocked the fridge with necessary snack and drinks before we arrived. We were extremely comfortable there. There is a lovely garden and a nice swimming pool. Judy makes breakfast with eggs to order for everyone in the morning, and we had an opportunity to chat to the other guests during breakfast. Judy and Hilton provide free transport to local offices and the UN in the morning and evening or can link you to reliable taxi services.

The location of the guest home is fantastic for the Sunninghill area, because it is located just across from the Sunninghill Village where there are restaurants, grocery stores, post office, hair salons, pharmacy, ATMs, etc. This makes it very convenient if you don’t have a car, because you can easily walk over and get what you need, and since the area is quite safe, we were able to walk over there even at night. It took us sometime to find a place to rent and so we ended up staying there for three months. All in all we cannot thank Judy and Hilton enough for their hospitality and help in settling into the area.

I spent almost a month in Ten on edison guest house. The guest house is located in sunninghill which is one of the best and safest place to stay in Johannesburg and almost 30 minutes from JNB airport. There is a big shopping complex just across the street where you can find almost everything to buy and really nice restaurants to have food and drinks.

The guest house has a lovely tranquil swimming pool and a very nice gazebo where we used to have drinks and food. The suites are really nice, well maintained and comfortable.

The owners - Judy and Hilton are like the most beautiful people i'll say i have ever met. I never felt like i am staying at a guest house instead it was "guest home". The hospitality was truly amazing. Judy, specially was so helpful and always tried her very best to provide anything you need and she always care a lot about the comfort of all the guests. The breakfast was really nice and even if you want to eat anything else apart from the regular breakfast menu tell judy and she will cook it for you.

Thank you Judy and Hilton for such a wonderful hospitality.
You guys are just awesome! Would love to visit you again and again!

I stayed at Ten On Edison for a week based on recommendation from a colleague. The place is beautiful, laid-back, clean, and cosy with a good breakfast. But most of all Judy was the most welcoming and accommodating host I could have wished for. I have been recommending her place to friends and colleagues since and will surely be back when I am back.

I stayed at this location for a couple months. The facilities are average, particularly when assessed relative to the cost and when compared to other properties in the surrounding Sunninghill area and in Sandton.

Additionally, I felt the property owner was a bit too prying and seemed especially focused on trying to convince guests to stay longer at the property through the use of quite a bit of fear mongering and guilt tactic to some extent.

All of this being said, Patricia the helper was wonderful!

Based on my experience I cannot in all confidence recommend this guest house as there are more superior properties which are better priced in the Sunninghill area. In sum - Better value for money can be found elsewhere!

Stayed here recently for around 2 months and it was worth every penny i paid.

My flight landed late in the evening and i was received by the cab driver (arranged by the guest house). Upon reaching the guest house i was greeted by Judy and Hilton (owners).

Breakfast is served daily from seven onward. Pick and drop facility is available to nearby offices. Rooms were spacious and exquisitely decorated with all amenities available. I had a large suite upstairs with cooking facility which was a must for me since i prefer cooking meals at times when im staying long term. Free wifi and DSTV.

I have no words for Judy and Hilton hospitality. Specially the braai in the lovely evenings of sunninghill. Judy was always kind enough to arrange Halaal meat for us which is not the case when you are staying at other locations. Best thing about my stay there was the free advise that you get from Judy for all your concerns from eating out to shopping..you name it and she will guide you.

Another plus point for both long term and short term guests is the nearby shopping center which is just across the guest house where you can find all major stores, pharmacy, restaurants, book stores, barbers etc..

There is a mosque within the walking distance so for me it was an ideal location.

Thumbs up for everything. I really had an amazing stay.

As an expat from China, I spent a month in this sweet place. In the begining, I was little bit concerned about the culture barrier and food. But soon I was totally settled down when I step into this guest room. Everything here is nice, clean and neat, not to mention the perfect housekeeping and gardening! Though it is a B&B, our dear host, Judy, always tried her very best to provide anything you need and cares about you no matter it is regarding the works or the life, which makes you feel like at home with your family around you. Food is another thing needs to be mentioned. As a foreigner, I not only survived but enjoyed! In addition, the guest house is located in a safe and securied area, which is very convenient to do shopping given there is a big shopping complex just across the road. No doubt, this will be the place where I bring my family in for visit in the future. In sum, excellent place for expats, travellers and those doing bussiness trip. You will enjoy your living and relax.

Ten on Edison is comfortable and ideally located for anyone working in the Sunninghill area. The rooms are spacious, clean and well looked after by the lovely Particia. The gazebo is nice for spending time outside by the pool. The shopping centre across the street has a few grocery shops, restaurants and beauty salons, but you are best hiring a car if you want to go to town often. You are bound to get to know the other guests as well as Judy and Hilton, the owners of the guesthouse, as the place is fairly small and intimate - something you will either like or not. The area feels safe and is quiet.

My wife had to have an operation at Sunninghill Hospital on her jaw. Judy was excellent and made us very comfortable, ensured we were at the hospital every day at the right time for the operation regardless of whether it was 06:00 or later in the day. The food was good, the location was perfect as we ate dinner right across the road every night it was the best place to be in Sunninghill without having to hire a vehicle

I will be honest, I arrived there thinking I would stay for a few weeks, time for me to find another accomodation somewhere else. I ended up staying for almost eleven months (September 2017 - July 2018), until I left the country. I just loved it and I know I will be going back.

The guest house has different options available (I stayed in a normal room first but stayed in one of the suites for most of my time there) and absolutely enjoyed it. It's extremely comfy, well-furnished and with good internet and satellite-tv (important when you want to keep on following the Champions League and Six Nations tournament :) ). The thatch roofs also added a bit of character to the place.

Breakfast is also served every morning and Judy is always very accomodating when it comes to personal choices for food. Then, for those who work, the guest house provides a shuttle service which is included in the price, to and from the office. For those who just want to relax, there is a great swimming pool and garden area.

The owners are just the best people ever, always ready to help, no matter the request. Moreover, I have to say that in the months I spent there, Judy and Hilton invited me (and other guests) to dinner or drinks (or both) on a regular basis. And I have to mention that Hilton is the KING of braais (aka BBQ in the rest of the world), and his ribs are just to die for. Having nice food, nice wine, with great company by the swimming pool was absolutely marvelous. And I have to say that Judy really takes care of her guests, in a very caring manner. Just a few examples, I received a rose and chocolat for Saint Valentines, and a very nice bottle of South African wine for my birthday.

I have to say I liked the place because it was close to my office too. But I stayed for a few days in another guest house in Johannesburg, which was far from the quality of life that one can find in Ten on Edison. I already said it was comfy and had character, of course. It is also in a very secure neighbourhood, has all the necessary security measures (for those working for the UN, this place if UNDSS approved) and in all those months I have not heard of or seen anything bad when it comes to safety. Moreover, there is a shopping centre literally 30 metres away from the guest house, which was extremely convenient. You can do your shopping there (two supermarkets), or just have a drink or dinner at one of the many bars and restaurants there, as well as a bookstore, gym, one small place that does homemade takeaway meals (their Belgian chocolate mousse is... fantastic), amongst other things. Judy will always be available anyway to guide you, should you not know where to get a specific item (which in most cases, you can right there in Sunninghill Village, thanks Judy for the shoes laces :D), and this applies as well for those who want to go do things out of Johannesburg. Basically, on top great accomodation, you also get two really good tourism advisors!

One last thing, for those who for whatever reason do not want to use Uber or similar services to get around, Judy knows a few reliable drivers who can assist you. The one she introduced me to when I arrived has since become my go-to guy whenever I (or some friends) need to get somewhere.

I know I will be back soon.
Convenient.
Comfy.
Lovely people.
Home.

(and my god, those BBQ ribs...)
