Good for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The hotel is now called the Onomo, and thats probably a good thing as there is not much "signature or lux" about it. Does not mean that it is a bad hotel, just call it a 3 star facility. The location is very good with the malls just around the corner. Premises are kept clean and most staff friendly and helpful.
My room was small, standard lux!?, which does not have room for 2 suitcases, as a singletraveller I managed. Travelling two, would deffo create problems. Room looked new, comfy bed, kettle, tea&coffee, safe, aircon, tv. Not much storage space. No fridge! Wifi was good. Bathroom was of good size, waterpressure good and no problem with temperature. Towels changed daily and most days refill of shampoo & moisteurizer.
Breakfast is served in the small cafe Aura, which can be pleasant if it is not too crowded, selection is not big, but you also have a choice from the menu. Service is a hit or miss, some staff are very guestoriented, some are not. I had one meal which was cold and not very tasty. Coffee & cold drinks were good.
For a few nights I would recommend the Onomo.

Absolutely great service by the lovely Kgomotso at reception. She was so funny, patient and attentive making sure to upgrade us to a more suitable room to avoid the noise of a function happening over the weekend at their parking area. Great assistance with some cooler box storage we needed and made sure to send a reminder on the day of our event which we needed it for.

Me and my husband stayed for one night two days. The room was extremely small. Suitcase holder was broken. Took quite a while to understand how to automate it with hot or cold water while taking shower. The hotel is under construction. So expect renovation. We were not inside hotel most of the time hence don’t know if there was any construction voice. Location- quite close to Nelson Mandela square. Hardly 50M. One can walk. We felt, we could get better hotels in Sandton in similar price point with better facilities.

Great staff welcoming you. Rooms are on the small size but well planned and very clean. Everything worked perfectly during my 5 days stay with no complains at all. The breakfast was very good including egg, bacon, sausages as well as a sortiment of cheeses, cold cuts and vegetables. The Coffe was great and the possibility to order a cappuccino and other coffees are there. My only issue is that the rooms should have a hotwater kettle and the possibility to ask for small refrigerator for people that need to keep medicine etc cold. Also the hotel should have some rooms that are connected for us who travel with spouse and a child.

I have stayed here before and it is my favorite small hotel with a perfect location next to Mandela Square. Friendly staff, nice simple relax breakfast restaurant and nice breakfast. Rooms are clean, well appointed and everything works as it should. They added a tea/coffe service in the room, and now I just hope they put a small refrigerator for the convenience of cold drinks etc. The reception staff are very nice and will go a long way to help you out. Miss PRETTY sorted out what I thought would be a drama without a problem. I also pointed out in my last review that it would be great with a family room for us that travel with a child. I be back soon again.

Dont book anywhere else this place is Awesome to stay at. A fantastic location right next to the Nelson Mendala Mall which is huge. The staff are the so helpful AAA+++. My room 329 and 324 queen bed rooms were quiet and peaceful bed was soft for good sleep. Room has everything except no fridge. A huge thank you to Phumelele you were so polite and helpful. Your service was amazing, everything was always spotless 5 star service. To Lihle and Given you are very professional your service at reception and looking after the hotel is outstanding 5 star service to you both. Thank you for everything. Anything i needed you both dealt with on the spot, other hotels could learn alot from you both. Chef Thapelo's the Hamburger hash special was awesome, the food was always hot, fresh and delicious keep the specials coming. Your service was also 5 star always carrying a smile and making sure your guests were happy with the food and service.

I spent a night at Onomo Hotel Johannesburg Sandton and was pleasantly surprised by the experience.
Check-in was smooth, with welcoming and attentive staff. The room, while modern and well-maintained, was a bit on the snug side; perhaps higher room categories offer more space.
Breakfast was a highlight, offering a range of tasty options to start the day.
The hotel's location is ideal for both business and leisure travelers—just a 5-minute walk to the Sandton Gautrain station and literally across from Nelson Mandela Square/Mall.
I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

I have been staying at this hotel for the last 6 months on business and the service levels just gets worse with each visit..No matter how many times you complain or send emails or advise on media website ,hotel and staff have a do not care attitude..My trip now will be the last I will use this hotel..Do not be attracted by the competitive rates -It’s a fools paradise .. I checked in last night the 21/02-from bad reception to a poor quality room no bother.. This morning on the 22/02 the hot water hardly came out of the tap./ This afternoon at 18h00 before leaving for dinner there was no hot water at all.. At 22h00 this evening no hot water again..Is this what you pay for ./ On querying for the 3 time the reception advises because of low occupancy the maintenance turns hot water off in evening..So are the guests expected to have a cold shower or do not shower at all?? I will never use this hotel again and advise people to stay clear of there rates as it’s a fools Bargin..

Fantastic location being a 2 minute walk away from Nelson Mandela Square with access to the shopping malls and great restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful to ensure you have a good stay, every morning, we were greeted before going out.wl
We were able to check in earlier after arriving from a long 10 hour flight without any fuss which was great.
The hotel room has some nice blue leds which can add another ambient at night time which was interesting. There were construction works going on however we didn't hear them thankfully.
The area is very safe and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We travelled here from the UK with the sole purpose of using it as a base to watch South Africa versus England in the cricket. The hotel is well connected to OR Rambo airport by the Gautrain and Sandton station is a 3-5 minute walk. After an initial disappointment of being allocated a room which had not been cleaned we returned to reception. After a short 15 minute wait we were given another room and also a gesture of goodwill to waive the charge to hold our bags securely on the day of our departure. The room itself is basic but very clean and comfortable. Nice double bed (although wed asked for 2 singles), modern bathroom with great shower (once you could find try right temperature) and good Aircon. There is a small safe in the room to lock valuables away along with a hairdryer attached to one of the walls. A massive plus unlike other hotels I've stayed in is that there is a window that you can actually open!!!! This was purely a base for us and we weren't there during the day so I can't fairly comment on the hotels other facilities. But as somewhere to start and finish the day in it was all we could ask for. The location of the hotel in relation to Nelson Mandela square is probably it's biggest asset. You are spoilt for choice of fantastic restaurants and you will never go hungry. As we were there for the cricket it was great to do a bit of cricket celeb spotting and were not disappointed. Would highly recommend Trump's Grill and the Butcher shop and grill to eat in.

All the rooms have a small corner desk with an ottoman chair. Good for short bouts of laptop work, not ideal for studying at length. Tip, book the twin room, they are larger.

I think so as the reception was open all the time and they also have self check in machines. You will need to take a taxi or an uber as the train just run until 9:30.
