I've stayed at Ciara Lodge 3 times in the last few months. I'm OK with the cramped space, list of rules that makes me feel like I'm staying in a boarding house, horrible toilet paper and non-existent TV channels. But the one thing that has caused me to take my considerable business elsewhere is the sign above the sink, stating that if you leave more than 10 items for the cleaner to wash then you should leave her a tip of between R20 and R50! These are self catering units, and to imply that a visitor is to pay for to have done what is specifically included in the price was enough for me to find another place. I just think that if you are in a saturated market then small things could cost you dearly. That little sign is a case in point. Having said that, the staff is friendly and accommodating, the price is reasonable and the place is clean. Too bad, I enjoyed my stays, but sadly it seems it's time to move on because I for one like to cook for myself even when I'm away from home on business.... And I DON'T like washing up after myself.…
The lodge is in a good neighbourhood, safe, very well kept and great for families or couples. Kitchen has all the appliances and utensils required but gas-heated water and stove can be tricky. Limited satellite TV but not too bad and free WiFi was great. Within half an hour driving time to many attractions.
Ciara Lodge is located in the northern suburbs of Pretoria with easy access from the highways. Close to the City but far enough from the hustle and bustle. Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 adult children) stayed in the self-contained unit for 4 nights during Jan 2018. The swimming pool came in handy during this time since Pretoria experienced a heatwave. The Units are well appointed, with same day laundry service, barbeque facilities, safe on-site parking and out-door relaxing areas. Our unit did not have air conditioning but was equipped with two desk fans and two roof fans. The service was good with quick responses to queries. We can definitely recommend Ciara Lodge guesthouse. Families as well as people on business will find this guesthouse worthwhile.
Ciara was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Pretoria! The room was very clean, yet homey. We stayed in the Pebble Chalet, and loved it. We will definitely stay here again when coming back through!
