This is an out-of-place place, to be sure.

It is located in Pretoria's northern suburbs, just over the big, undeveloped hill that separates them from Pretoria proper. Set on a back street in a pretty and quiet residential neighborhood is this sort of mini-apartment-like building/house - it's hard to say exactly what it is!

There are 14 guest rooms in the building with glass sliding doors for entrances. If you've been to South Africa before, you know how unusual this in such a security-conscious country. However, you are in a safe neighborhood and behind iron gates which with controlled access.

Almost like an over-sized home, the place has a wonderful 'lobby' which is more like a living room with couches and tv and then there's a fairly large dining room (for a house) where breakfast is served. It's very homey and suburban.

The rooms are good. Satellite tv, coffee maker, the general stuff you'd need are all there.

Parking in free onsite and wifi is free too.

This is not a luxurious place and neither is it a backpacker spot. It seems to attract South Africans from around the country of all races and seems not to be full that often. It ought to be full given the low price and what you get for it.

It's like, I guess, an OK to good guest house/b&b. It's not luxurious but neither is it rundown or worn. I liked it and would stay again.

The downside is that is you don't have a car, you're not going to want to stay here. There are things around within a 20 minute walk but not much. You can catch a minibus taxi a few blocks away but that's not really an effective method of transport.

Other than that, it's a great place. Give it a try - easily half or less than what you'd pay for similar.

The location is stunning, has a camp/lodge feeling. The rooms are clean & air-con works perfect and I loved the coffee station with a biscuit. Parking is available and the swimming pool side is really inviting. The reception was very friendly & helpful. The parking space is decent & the guest house is in a safe and convenient location.

Constructive criticism
We asked for a packed breakfast because we were leaving early but it wasn't what we were expected. Next time I will recommend a yorghut, muffin & cheese for packed instead of cooked

Excellent Service received from receptionist.

Rooms (bed sheets, toilet, shower) all very clean.

We fel very hungry and were able and allowed to order room service (food) at 00:00 midnight.

Friendly staff and clean rooms.
Privacy is a problem due to the rooms being against each other. Night manager should ensure that visitors are not noisy at 00h00 in the mornings.

Had to shower in cold water as there was NO hot water. This seems to be a recurring problem.

Our stay at the guest room was excellent, the staff, the room, the service and the stay, all was excellent. We'll definitely come again, my spouse and I. Loved it❤️😋. Even though we were a bit disappointed by the pool, it was not clean on Saturday morning, but was cleaned later on that day and more guest were already ready to get in the pool, and some were drunk, that made us not so comfortable to swim with them and ended up not swimming my spouse and I. But other than that everything was excellent, I give you 9/10

The standard of this guest house has deteriorated badly. No backup power during load-shedding. Had to stay for 4 hours without lights, aircon and no TV plus temperatures were extremely high. Sliding doors are difficult to move. Breakfast was terrible, only powdered milk offered they don't have fresh milk.

My wife is from South Africa and being familiar with the Wonderboom area, we thought this Guest House would be a good stay - what a disappointment! To start with, the card machine did not work and we had to scramble for cash. Shower was blocked, TV did not work, ants all over the bed, hair on the sheets ( not ours!), no floor rug in the toilet (cold tiled floor in July). And this was the Executive room! Save yourself the trouble and do not book a stay here. You will be disappointed. We booked for 5 nights, but left after the first.
