I have mixed reviews about Intundla. While the lodge is perfectly located with great views , flowing water from the dam and lovely gardens, it lacks great service.
All the facilities are well maintained, very spacious to cater for special occasions, events and corporate functions.
The rooms are fairly comfortable . The cuisine was good but the service was average. The lodge is run fairly well but requires better management.
Overall, it is a picturesque lodge in a great location.

The highlight of our weekend was the game drive because we thought we wouldn't see any game because of the weather but it was the complete opposite. Our wonderful game drive guide whom we crowned "MrBuch" made us laugh and taught us a lot. The rooms were amazing, the food was amazing, the staff was excellent, the spa out of this world .would come again for the ambiance

12 of us (family) stayed in the Bush Spa for 5 days, it was great because we had the entire Bush Spa side to ourselves and although we had a fantastic time there are a few things that are not up to standard or worth the money paid. The wooden blinds in my bedroom were broken, the bath towels were more like hand towels, different bulbs everywhere with no lamp shades, you couldn’t tell the time on the alarm clock in my room, all doors squeaked horribly when opening or closing, the tablecloths in the dining area needed ironing and cleaning on some days, on our last night there were ants all over the table and on our last morning my placemat had mould on it. Most of the food (served buffet style) was tasty but very ‘home-style’ and I even pulled a hair out of my sandwich on the second day. The massage was relaxing but very amateur (the same ladies that work in the kitchen work in the spa). When we asked reception about activates we had blank stares, we were also told there was no WIFI at the bush spa only to find out 3 days later that there was. Checking out was a disaster, we had to let them know what massages we had and what to add onto our bills and had to wait approx 50 minutes to get everything sorted out.
The staff were very friendly and made us feel at home but management needs to sort out the small issues to bring the place up to standard and make it worth the rate they ask for because it is a stunning place with great potential.

The lodge itself is situated in a nice natural area with good views of the dam. The staff on the other hand where not at all helpful, friendly or accommodating. I visited this venue with friends for a wedding. Well before arrival we tried changing our initial booking as we had booked a family unit for two adults and two children but got no feedback from the person at the lodge we made our booking with. My friends wife and two children where unable to spend the evening because of school commitments. Again, we did inform them well ahead of time about the change in plans and never even received so much as an email. Upon arrival we brought this issue to the attention of the lady checking us in and she simply said, and I quote " it's your loss!" No effort was made by the staff to assist in any way to come to some sort of comprise. My friend ended up having to pay R4090.50 for one nights accommodation for one person which I find ridiculously over priced. One would expect much better customer service from a lodge like this.

I rated this 2 stars because the beds are dirty. Saturday night my legs were fine, spent a night sleeping on the bed , next morning I wake up the with bed bug bites all over my legs, I couldn't stay longer, packed up and left around 5am and there was no hot water to shower with. I came back from dinner Saturday evening and no water at all to wash my face. Everything else was great though.

The scenes at this property are lush and green and beautiful but thats where the positives end. I was part of a group of people that went for a 1 night 2 day stay at this property for a team building exercise.
The food is mediocre. It is served buffet style which is fine but for breakfast they made wet scrambled eggs and anemic looking bacon which I dont like. I asked if I could get a well done fried egg and if they could please make my bacon crispier - the response I got was that they is the way they made it and there are other options to choose from if I dont like. I had to insist and make a fuss before they called the kitched to put in my request - several other people followed with thier requests for fried eggs and crispier bacon much to the annoyance of the server who showed us his unhappiness by refusing to bring a fellow dinner a plate, he just said 'you can go get your plate yourself'. The conference meals consisted of a breakfast of cheese muffins with jam decanted into a bowl and grated cheese. Tea was the same cheese muffins with cheese and tomatoe sandwiches. There were no sweet pastries so I asked if they had cookies so they brought out marie and tennis biscuit, that's as generic and unamazing as it can get on the biscuit scene. Hot beverages consisted on rooibos, 5 roses and coffee - if you had hopes of camomile, earl grey etc this is not your place. Desserts are generally hot baked puddings which are sweeter then necessary and very basic.
Service - staff are not properly trained and are not confident. They are always unsure and a little slow.
Rooms - walked into the room and it seemed clean. Went into the bathroom and the toilet was not properly scrubbed. The towels are small and rough. When I went to sleep I opened the sheets and was greeted by maggot looking worms, thinner and red in colour. One of my 2 sleeping pillows had blood splatters on it. Other collegues complained of smells in their beds, rat poop and blood splatters. The mattress was at least firm :/
I would never go back. Ever.
If you are looking for a similar themed place with better food, service and cleanliness but unfortunately without as much natural scenary I recommend Misty Hills.

We had our wedding at Intundla 3 weeks ago. It is an absolutely stunning venue and we really enjoyed ourselves. In the lead up to the big day Mari and her colleagues were very helpful and answered all our questions. We had paid the absolute maximum to hire the whole venue and had done this well in advance as we wanted to ensure we got the best rooms and that our guests were very comfortable and there weren't other guests there. We had even booked game drives for 34 people, a boma for everyone etc so really did spend a lot and give the venue A LOT of business. However the day before the wedding (the day we arrived) we were suddenly told that my husband (the groom) would no longer be able to stay in the bridal suite as planned but would have to stay in a normal room. This was because the owners had suddenly arrived and insisted on sleeping there. Never mind the fact that we were paying customers or that it was the most important day of our lives. They didn't even come and speak to us about it, and when we complained after the wedding and asked that they atleast refund the cost of this room as a small token for the disappointment and inconvenience caused having to move etc, they completely ignored our email (obviously they didn't care as we had paid our bill and they had already got our money). We felt really let down and my husband had very basic accommodation! Furthermore, when our decorator/florist came to collect her items the morning after the wedding, alot of them had been taken overnight, and the venue refused to take any responsibility for this or help trace them. I have only positive things to say about the location of Intundla. It is absolutely beautiful and on the whole the service was brilliant and staff very friendly. These major things really let it down for us though as we feel the venue/owners could have done a lot more.

We recently visited Intundla Game Lodge as a group of friends. Being just a little bit nervous (what you see on the internet is not always what you get) - but we were oh so pleasantly surprised. We were delighted to find that they had booked all of our rooms to be water-facing (highly recommended!) without us having known to ask. A further delightful surprise was when at the end of the winter evening staff had switched on the heaters in the room which turned it into a nice cosy sleeping spot. Bedding there is aplenty, including some hot water bottles if you need a little extra warmth. The meals (being buffet, again we were just a little nervous) were to DIE for! Absolutely delicious, scrumptious and generous meals were served at both breakfast and supper. You cannot possibly leave their restaurant feeling dissatisfied! (Winter) dinner included a soup for starters, along with a full hot meal and a hot dessert with custard. You might as well forget about any dieting plans if you visit here... Trust me! Breakfasts had a full range of cereals, fruits, standard hot breakfast along with an extra choice of either waffles or flapjacks, served with fresh cream, honey and syrups. The bar area offers a beautiful deck and a view over the water. Perfect for a sundowner. And the spa!! Again... potential for things to get a bit shady in the spa department. All 6 of us were again, most pleasantly surprised. The girls have been properly trained, not just handed a tub of cream and artlessly pummel you to death. Between us, we had everything from a head massage, Thai foot massage, full body massage, and we were all very pleased with the treatments. Everything about our weekend breakaway was simply delightful. We had the pleasure of meeting our hosts, who on the second evening made a point of wishing us all a very good night - personally. At best, I can describe the experience as visiting your favourite family members, with such warmth and genuine hospitality being evident in ALL of the staff on the property. NB! There is a slightly uncomfortable dirt road for the 3km before you arrive, so if you have a choice between a big car and a little one, bigger would be better :)
At 1.5 hours from Joburg... we will most certainly visit again!

It was not a pleasant stay with Intundla because we had problems half the time with no water supply. Also, when the water was working it was really dirty and can't brush teeth with dirty water :( The sewage water leaking into the dam at the back of the venue and smells terrible. Overall my experience was really bad and a major disappointment.
Although the Dinokeng area is really buetiful, will not stay at Intundla again.

We attended a wedding at Intundla game Lodge on the 4th January 2020. We arrived on the 3rd at 1.00pm. Our room was not ready and so we waited. And waited. We could only check into our room at 4.30pm. The grounds were so overgrown that one of the wedding guests had to mow acres of lawn in preparation for the wedding which had been booked a year in advance - so the management had known about this wedding for a year. At the bar, whilst waiting for our room to be ready and thereafter EVERY SINGLE time we tried to order drinks we were welcomed by the usual "the world owes me something" chip on the shoulder attitude from staff (with the exception of Collins, who, if he was on duty, tried to make up for the poor service received from everyone else) where we were blatantly ignored and made to wait for service for up to 20 minutes at a time. Staff would look us in the eye and ignore us, only attending to us when they felt like it. The room was substandard indeed. On our first morning we awakened to a luke warm shower which we reported to reception only to find the following morning that the water was ice cold. The food was sub-standard. We had day-time temperatures of around 36deg and had only the smallest over-head fan in the room which made no difference to the ambient temperature or level of comfort at all. All together an awful experience and NOT recommended.

Response from TenealeduPlessis, Public Relations Manager at Intundla Game Lodge & Bush Spa
Responded 15 Jan 2020
Hi Fiona. Thank you for your submission. As I was there setting up for the wedding let me shed some light to your assumptions as to the circumstances. The so called guest that was moving the lawn was in fact not a guest but my husband who was on hand to help because one of the mowers had given in from standing a bit over the closure period in the festive season. Bianca, the Bride, who booked this wedding was very insistent on the first weekend back after closure, and the staff all came back on the second and started to unpack and clean in preparation. Yes we understand there was water problems because of the unexpected flood in the middle of December and then trying to get things done over the festive season was a nightmare. This should not be your problem but this was also something the majority of this wedding party understood and were sympathetic to, and the Bride and Groom were also completely understanding. What you do not understand is the way the staff ran around to help. How the staff did everything for every guest despite the few hiccups until whatever time. We have also never, since we have been open, in 22 years had our staff look at guest and not help, nor have this so called chip on their shoulder. As I said I was there that weekend, and should you been treated this badly I would think that brining this to managements attention would be the solution, not comprising unsubstantiated incidents to embellish your review. We absolutely love constructive criticism and feedback, however do not submit to unmitigated circumstances. We apologized profusely that weekend and we are still absolutely mortified that the pumps were such an issue following the floods. We sincerely do apologize once again for that. Please do make sure of your facts when posting on social media with such conviction about a business page in future.

Having just visit4d the property it's built around a central social area. The TV is in the bar next to the pool area and being a nature reserve I can't imagine how tv sounds will disturb the birds and frogs etc. and the rooms are quite pretty and certainly rustic but very clean.
There are more places to choose from in the Pretoria area.
