Truly lovely park on the banks of the Pinaars river. Level grassed campsites with water and electricity nearby. Clean ablutions with hot water. Not all stands have shade, check when you book. The 'island' campsites are nice and private.

+1
Very nice little camp site inside the Dinokeng Game Reserve. Neat Camp sites, clean toilets and showers (a rare find). Bird life is amazing, lots to be seen. Small animals in camp site too. No complaints other than some noise from nearby township at night. Very peaceful otherwise.

Room Tip:Â Try get a camp site closest to the dam. Probably more sheltered from noise at night.

The campsite is very nice. Don’t believe all the promises on there web site. Very clean showers and toilets. My only problem was the music and noise form the nearby township. The area around the campsite have self-drive routes where there is a variety of wild live but to drive on the route you need to get a permit from the Dinokeng Game Reserve.

Excellent location if you want to stay in the nature reserve and use it as a base to go on the self drives in the reserve (you buy the self drive permits at the main gate of the Dinokeng reserve as you arrive, the permits are quite pricey, the De Rust Caravan Park is situated in the reserve).
Gert is very helpful and when we arrived he offered us alternative stand options. We were very grateful for that as the stand we had booked (River stand 13) had little to no shade. We moved to River stand 12 which was lovely. It was obvious that he wants all the guests to have a good time. The stands are huge, well maintained and the camp has everything you need. We would definitely go back when we want to visit the nature reserve again.

Lovely sites, large and clean. Ablutions clean. Got to see the rare Finfoot in the river, and lots if other birds and mammals. Pool refreshing.
Hammanskraal Shebeen noise is distant enough to not spoil experience. The Boekenhout road is badly corrugated, other self drive roads are good.

we booked for two weeks at de Rust and only stayed 6 nights due to misleading information on the website. No walks from camp site and Big 5 only sited if R300 paid to Dinokeng Game Reserve and a 18km drive. No chemical toilet disposal as advertised. Beautiful camp site but did not feel happy when only campers on site.

My wife and I decided at short notice to get away for the night to a place neither of us had ever heard of previously and what a pleasant surprise De Rust turned out to be...we were welcomed by a very courteous owner Jan who walked us around the camp site giving us various options where to pitch...we choose site 16 next to a faster flowing part of the Pienaars River...the sound of the water was indeed soothing.
Cell phone reception is a bit dodgy in the actual camp but can be sought by walking up towards the pool area.
Our only problem being that we had only booked for one night as it would have been lekker to switch off and chill there for a few nights...it was only a taster for us so we will have to return sooner rather than later. We would have liked to explore the game reserve more which would take the best part of a day.
We have however booked another camp site in the Dinokeng Reserve for the near future in order to expand our knowledge of this little known but beautiful area...looking forward to it....Seamus&Lisa McGuigan.

This resort was recommended by a friend, but disappointing. On the positive side the sites are big and there are not many. There is shade, water and power. The ablutions were adequate, there was enough of everything and pleasantly decorated, but could definitely have been cleaned more often, and ran out of toilet paper one morning. The biggest negative, and the reason we would not return, is the noise factor. Between the N1 highway right next door and the all night parties from the surrounding townships every night, it was like sleeping in the city. It's a pity as the owners can't really do anything about that aspect unfortunately

On Arrival at Dinokeng game park. When you turn right to the caravan park a Big Board welcome you "De Rust Caravan Park A TOP 100 park" On arrival you are welcome by a big board (Reception). When i proceed towards the gate the owner stop me and said i must wait for her at your car. Their is no reception at all every thing is done outside your car. On a little peace of paper they looking for your name. WRITE ON THE OWNERS LEG OUT A MANUAL RECEIPT. And out of a bag come your change. (Not very professional at all) No bank card facilities. No info given about the park or game park, only the camp manager will wait for you on enter ens the park, he will show your stand. Grass next to the road to camping site ex-stream long, Entrance to swimming pool only 2 tracks from the car.The grass stands is ex stream big, nice and level ground, (Big Plus) enough shaded stands. Ablution facilities are not to standard - Shower doors is half way and you will see the person inside. No hand dryers or towels in bathrooms. Hot water a big plus i never in any camp experience the water so hot all day along. Kitchen and laundry area hardly non existing, grass so long the risk of snakes around to visit these facilities a no go. No Tuck shop if run out of supplies you need to leave the game park to nearby town to by anything,no numbers on the stands only 3 lights in the Park risk of snakes around. You need good flash lights. The park is nice and quite except for the township close by,playing music non stop at night. The park manager or owners do not interact with their visitors. The rate for top 100 park must be very old. For their expensive Rate take note that you only got a stand, bring own wood or charcoal and fresh water you can not buy it at the caravan park.- if you want to drive in the game park it will cost you additional R250.00 per day per car. Will i visit this caravan park again - No

Absolute redicilous complain! Just read it and you wil understand. Widerness Park with big 5 At reception also a board that ask visitors to hoot for service. All info on the park is given verbally by the lady that wecomed you at your car as you arrived ( no uphold ) On arrival at the Park the camp manager showed your your site but you wanted another stand witch was booked allready. Only 23 stands the reason why no tuck shop as stated clearly on website. If someoe is in the dressing cubicule of the shower one might see your feet. Showers all got curtains. It is always sad when people get angry about somthing and then try to DESTROY the hard work we put in to make the best we can. Jan.

Not a recommended caravan park. yes, I know it is in the bush but my goodness........ The grass is not mowed before campers arrives. The pool is not cleaned and maintained on a daily basis, dead bugs and a rat that drowned had to be removed by me. The reception and general management of the park is appalling. The management is rude and is not capable to maintain the basics of the park, "my opinion". The staff accommodation looks terrible every time you have to pass their "rondawel" on your way to the pool area, it is not neat at all.

The person that made this review ( male ) was caught in the ladies ablution and ask to not go in there again and was upset because he sees himself as female but weir men clothing and the female campers were very upset to find him in the park. His complains is false. Jan
