This is the BEST guesthouse experience for me, EVER! From very luxurious and spacious rooms or loft apartment to semi-fitted kitchens. My colleagues and I attended a course in Pretoria over several weeks, on and off, and we stayed at Bwelani.

The rooms are clean, bedding crisp and very well fitted bathrooms with choice of bath or showers. I liked the fact that I could heat up food for myself in the available microwaves, or that I could have cool drinks in my room due to a small fridge. The bigger rooms all have a reading nook with lamp and a stereo system is also available. The loft apartment even has a separate area for studying and a small lounge and dining room area. Lovely! All rooms are fitted with Flat Screen TV's with some DSTV channels. Air conditioners are standard and there is electric blankets on the beds.

I liked the themed rooms, all from Africa, with memorabilia from different African countries to set the right atmosphere.

Outside the house the pool looks inviting, even in winter. Benches are set all around for relaxation.

You have a choice every morning of the breakfast you would like to have and special diets are catered for well.

The Guesthouse is in walking distance from Pretoria University and other shopping malls.

Susan, thank you for your hospitality and the way that you have treated us during our stay. Even your administration at check out is up to date.

I will never forget my stay at your guesthouse, and will surely recommend you to other travelers to Pretoria.

Had an excellent stay at Bwelani Guest House. The guest house is situated near the University of Pretoria which is an easy walking distance. It is situated close to other convenience centers and shopping malls. The room has a double bed (with an electric blanket), airconditioner and en-suite bathroom. The bathroom has both a bath and a shower. A kitchen is situated close-by with a microwave oven and your own lockable refrigerator. A real pleasure staying here!

This guesthouse is a couple of minutes walk from University of Pretoria. The owner, Susan, and her staff (and beautiful dog) are very welcoming and helpful.
The L-shaped guesthouse is full of artefacts and craft work, making each room different. The small swimming pool was inviting, and the gardens shady and restful.

Breakfasts are huge made mainly from home grown produce; a small breakfast required good negotiating skills so as not to offend! Rooms are quirky, comfortable and highly individual. Those on the ground floor have a fridge and those on the upper floor share a small kitchen and lead onto a veranda.

Sitting under the veranda's tin roof, watching and listening to a High Veld storm, sipping good red wine was quite an experience!

We had no problems with wifi, though the signal may be stronger in some rooms.
Bathrooms are large, also quite originally furnished, but well stocked with towels and bath products.

The guesthouse staff pay a lot of attention to guests' security. There is a small shopping mall about 15 minutes walk away, but this was the furthest we were encouraged to go without transport.

Me and my partner stayed here while doing post grad block weeks this year. The guest house is wonderfully equipped and the hostess was incredibly friendly. The room had all the necessary amenities including A/C, electric blankets and a little bar fridge, but the Wi-Fi signal was pretty weak.
The access to a small kitchenette was really nice and the breakfast was very delicious.

We stayed at this excellent guesthouse for nearly two weeks as we attended conferences at UNISA and the University of Pretoria. It's just two blocks from the University of Pretoria. Susan and her staff – especially Lydia and Happy – are extremely helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make you comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful, and we had one lovely dinner, which just had to be ordered a day in advance. Susan was a reliable source of advice on getting around Pretoria, and she called restaurants and made reservations for is. It's a calm and restful place, and we recommend it with great enthusiasm.

Just got home from a wonderful week at the Bwelani Guest House!
I attended a conference at the University so the location was perfect, about a 3-minute-walk to the main entrance. The area is very quiet and seemed to be safe though I never walked alone after dark.
My room was huge, and beautifully decorated and equipped. The bathroom was huge as well, with a shower and a bathtub. The bed was comfy (I slept great!), the TV the perfect size, there was a fridge and even kind of a small kitchenette where I could have made myself tea or coffee. But I rather enjoyed the lovely breakfast which was freshly made downstairs every morning.
Susan, the owner, and all the staff were just lovely and made me feel more than welcome and at home. I had trouble with my uber app so Susan called me an uber the one day and even drove me to a mall on her way to shop the other day.
I can highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone who wants a quiet, clean, perfectly equipped guesthouse that feels like home away from home for his stay in Pretoria - I will definitely be back!

Was here for a month with the family and had a great time. We stayed in the self catering flat that has it's own courtyard and balcony and a full kitchen with all ameneties including dishwasher. The flat was also serviced which was a bonus. Bathroom is massive with large family shower and claw bath and the main bedroom has a king size bed. The lounge area downstairs has day beds as couches and are suitable for adults as well as children. The hostess is very friendly and helpfull and her dog is amazing, my son spent many hours playing with him. Location is great as it is central and easy onto freeways and close to several large malls.

Bwelani Guest House is truly a home away from home thanks to Susan, the guest house owner, and her kind and helpful staff. The Guest House is beautifully decorated with various pieces of art collected from Susan's travels and each room has so much character! Susan is also an amazing cook and, together with her staff, whipped up delicious meals for our group of 26! I spent nine days at Bwelani for a workshop at the nearby (walking distance) University of Pretoria. We had some last minute changes to our schedule and Susan was very helpful and accommodating with our meals, meal times, and even organized the guest house for us to hold a session there instead of at the university. The conference room in the guest house is fully equipped with A/C, a projector, whiteboard, and a lovely area for a tea/coffee break. Lastly, the Guest House is centrally located and Uber drivers knew exactly where to pick us up/drop us off. I would absolutely stay here again!

Bwelani is truly a home away from home, loved everything about the guesthouse from the warmness of the staff, to the food. Rooms were cleaned daily and a regular change of beddings and towels. The guesthouse is also conveniently located close to the University of Pretoria, malls and restaurants. Definitely staying at Bwelani in case I visit Pretoria again
