Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a dungeon. The airflow was bad. Maintenance tried to fix it but it was hot and since the room had no windows we could hardly breathe. We drank the coffee in the room on the first night and it was not replaced for the remainder if our 3 day stay. It boasts a pool, but it's simply tiny and has no place to lie down next to the pool. Disappointing to say the least. Reception staff was friendly. Breakfast was good and so was the restaurant staff. I would not like to stay here again.

I booked my room through the Marriot bonvoy app, given that the hotel was transitioning to the Marriot brand. I booked a luxury room, city view with balcony. The first night I was kept awake by a nightclub opposite, and so the manager moved me the next night to another room, room 225, which was an internal room but no sofa, balcony or city view. But it was quiet. The room itself was spacious and clean enough, although the door looked like it had been jimmied at some point and the bed was oddly positioned next to it. Frankly it looks like it was at some point a store room that was converted, but still was clean and I was really only there to sleep. The issue came at check out when the staff wanted to charge me for the luxury room for the whole week, even when i challenged the lack of balcony and sofa. There was also no city view (it was an internal room and my view was an air duct). In fact this room does not exist on the Marriot booking app, which is not surprising because it is not a Marriot-standard room. Eventually the manager agreed a discount and kindly offered a bottle of wine.
Other observations- we ordered a chicken club sandwich and fries the first day, they took 1.5 hours to arrive- we were told variations of stories like ‘chef is grilling the chicken’ or ‘toasting the bread’ or ‘building the sandwich’. I think you need to teach your chef to make a grilled chicken sandwich as I could have prepared a whole chicken dinner in that time. We had no water for a whole day, and instead of being upfront with when the water was coming back we were fobbed off, told it was filling the tank on several occasions when in fact the water had not returned. I get utilities can go a bit awry in ZA, just tell your staff to be upfront and say they don’t know. However we were offered a room to shower in, and a bucket of water to flush our toilets, so all was good in the end.
Whilst I think the hotel itself is not a Marriot standard (yet) I do appreciate that between the excuses the staff was brilliant. I know I’m not an easy guest if my expectations are not met, but they remained calm and courteous and ultimately we were able to reach agreement. So I think your staff are definitely Marriot standard even if the hotel is not. A particular thank you to the student from the international hotel school, Lerato, who served us in the restaurant each night. She was great!
So whilst I wouldn’t rate this hotel as a Marriot just yet, I think it has a lot of potential and so hopefully with a bit more care to the rooms it will be up to scratch.

The hotel is located in an area that is frequented by students. It tends be loud and very busy, the the ideal location for a quite get away but ideal if you looking for great bars and restaurants for a night out. There are many mini bus taxis going pass the hotel which are hooting all the time. It's best to request a room that doesn't face the main road. The WiFi was bit problematic but over strong enough. The staff are exceptionally friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The restaurant has very limited vegetarian options.

Standard room had too many defects (and I stayed in more than 1 room) - air cons had styrofoam wedged in the flap and sounded like a jet airplane and taps were loose. No plugs near bedside tables so you cannot charge your phone next to the bed. No irons for the rooms - ironing rooms have defective irons and this was a big issue for my business trip. Staff are amazing and attentive though!

Permitting consumption of alcohol in room or lobby is a no no! Coming out of the lift on the fourth floor we were met with an unusual scene. A long table had been set-up with seating for about 8 to 10 persons. The seated persons were consuming copious amounts of alcohol and food. This was a culture shock for me on a Sunday evening.

NOISY PLACE.
You won't be able to sleep as people run around on the corridors laughing and banging doors. Unbearable behavior .
The room smells urine in the bathroom,it is also stuffy you can't breath nicely . The rooms have no plugs to charge the phones. They still use old plug options. They need to upgrade that . Also the chef, please please reduce the use of oilm Everything I had was swimming in sold. Mushrooms, omelet, porrushers, bacon, tomatoes I mean the oil use there is a lot guys. I had to wipe my food with service to reduce that oil. I wish I didn't pay for breakfast cos I didn't enjoy at all

I suffer from chronic sinusitis and rhemititis, the room was extremely dusty you couldn’t tell it was freshened for weeks! Water was cold and trying to reach both house keeping and reception was a nightmare. Pls keep your rooms freshened before checking in a guest in the room. Also your furniture needs to be revamped, that mat? Pls no!

Location was great, the hotel comfortable. My room was just close to the cleaning area room so too much noise. They should consider closing that room. Overall was nice today stay. Tv had channels that did work at times
