1) They had incorrectly reserved a room for the day we were leaving, not the day of arrival. 2) Room was drab and freezing cold 3) the heating didn't work. 4) Ordered room service which was of poor quality, badly cooked and they had failed to bring basics like sauces, salt and pepper etc. 5) Breakfast room was again freezing cold. Basically there was nothing to recommend staying at this Hotel.
The best way to describe the Irene Country Lodge is to say that it is home away from home. I have been using the hotel consistently for the last 6 years and I look forward to every stay. The staff are friendly and helpful and the amenities are world class. What better way to end the week than with a G&T overlooking the lake. It is conveniently situated near OR Tambo and the Gautrain and there are shopping centers close by. I can’t think of any other hotel that I would prefer to stay at in Pretoria or Johannesburg.
Impressed with the level of exceptional service, from when we called in to stay. Was exciting to take a drive out from the city and experience the beautiful scinery. I liked the farm setting most. Thank you!
General manager, Anwar Is extremely xenophobic and discriminatory. Very disgusted that this is how business is run in South Africa. Attempted to resolve an issue due to their poor and negligent customer service team. Although I had a paper trail and audio to substantiate my claim, the general manager fabricated the entire series of events and refused to own up to his mishaps and provide resolve. The way he treated me was disgusting to say the least. However, the universe works full circle. If you want to stay at any Marriott property, I would suggest the ones nearby in Johannesburg or the Sheraton in Pretoria. They treat guests the same regardless of background and they appreciate their loyal members.
Brilliant break away from JHB. A short drive away. Beautiful setting and facilities. Spacious rooms in main building. Classical farm style. Great friendly staff. Good trails and great that you can access irene farm before day visitors come in. Spa access included. Nice pool and heated jacuzzi/ sauna. Very peaceful. Excellent break away from the city. Worth every cent. Feels like you away in dullstroom or midlands (KZN)
We had such a lovely stay at African Pride Irene Country Lodge. It was our first time in South Africa, we were there for a family wedding. The hotel and its grounds are so peaceful, which really allowed us to unwind, with walks around the lake and drinks watching the wildlife. A perfect balance to the anxiety that can come with travelling to a new country and all the exciting events that naturally come with weddings. At the end of the trip we had booked a couple of nights in a Lodge in Pilanesberg. We needed to check out of the Lodge 11am and our flight wasn't until 10pm. The staff at African Pride were kind enough to let us leave most of our luggage with them and stop off again to freshen up as we travelled from the lodge to the airport. Just one of the examples of how they made the stay as easy as possible for us.…
The location is great,in the city but feels like outside with its serenity.beautiful veiws from the rooms as well as from the restaurant.my family and I loved the dinner live music entertainment.it feels very vacationy. Loved taking a walk around the lake.we were offered a crib for our 3 month baby ahead of the stay which helped reduce my luggage and the hustle of having to setup my travel cot.
Had a few issues in the beginning of my stay but the guest relationship manager solved out everything perfectly. Amazing view over the lake. Super breakfast. Nice bar area. Other rooms in the woods are very quite. All in all just a great place.
African Pride remains a high quality gem in Irene. We went for dinner after a couples treatment at their on site spa, Camdeboo which was great. Really good experience in the restaurant from management and our waitress Zinani who was great. Excellent buffet but also good selection of a la carte. We'll be back (again).
I stayed at African Pride Irene Country Lodge for 7 days and my car which was parked on their premises was severely scratched by what I assume is either one of their other guests or their staff (who drive golf carts). The hotel though having cameras claim they saw ‘no foul play’ after I had to run after them to check. They then promised to have another look but have not gotten back to me. This establishment does not care about your personal property and how much loss/damage you suffer during your stay there. It would not hurt them to properly check their cameras, but they seem to not care. Utterly disappointing for what is supposed to be a 5-star hotel.
