If you are looking for a tranquil, comfortable, home away from home that offers all the luxuries you are accustomed to, look no further. The Willows Country Lodge is set on a sizeable estate against the Bronberg Mountain Nature Reserve. Although exceptionally centrally located in the heart of busy Lynnwood Road, it creates the impression of being far away in the countryside. Willows Country Lodge is the ideal place to unwind, let go and be in the moment.

Visited the Willows on Sunday 10 March 2019. Arrived at about 14:00. Was met in the parking area by a man inquiring what do we want. We asked if we could eat at the restaurant and he said yes, turned around and walked away, not indicating in what direction we could find the restaurant. We found it and saw only one other couple there, the place was not busy at all. There was one waiter on duty. He only spoke to us when we spoke to him, answering us in short sentences. we asked if we could eat, he said yes, we asked if we could sit anywhere, he said yes, we found a table and when we sat down he said we must move to a bigger table, we moved. He left as alone for 10 min and returned, again asking if we wanted to eat, we asked if we could order drinks, he said yes, we asked for a menu, he gave us 1 menu with no drinks on and said they are busy with new menus, we asked what we could drink and he gave us a short list, we order 5 drinks (we were a party of 5) and sat back relaxing waiting for our drinks, which arrived about 15 min later, again I stress that they were not busy, only 2 tables, the other one occupied by a couple. We only received 4 drinks, and had to re order the 5th, which again took another 10min to arrive. The service continued like that, very slow. The food was average, not enough, we all left hungry

This is really a VENUE for business presentations, meetings etc.. It is NOT a comfortable place to stay in. Our room was COLD, sparsely furnished, with a small bathroom with an inadequate shower. There was no phone connection to the concierge who was not always available.

The main building is an old farm house added to and converted to a large but COLD reception room or dining room. It is a popular venue for weddings which can be held in the amphitheater in the beautiful garden. I would love to have seen this property before it was divided up with portions sold for developments. In fact I fear that the latest division and subsequent neighbouring buildings might spoil what is its greatest attraction. This is the nostalgic feel of an East African guest house of about 1850. The place is filled with old African furniture, mirrors and doors from Zanzibar. It reminds me of the time in Africa before the flashy modern hotels of today.

Lunch on the lovely verandah overlooking the trees is GOOD and also good value. The lunches prepared for business meetings are also good and one can see that the participants are enjoying the break from the concrete jungle. The property is fascinating and invites one to explore it. There is a craft shop hidden behind the building and also the small factory that produces the craft. Koi fish are kept in a large pond not visible from anywhere that matters. A fairy-tale house and secret garden are enjoyed by a family renting it temporarily as their house is renovated.

We enjoyed the sun on the stoep outside our room but I won't be making a booking here again. I had no idea from the Internet advert that the only approach to the place was up a STEEP ramp and no car could get close.

Willows country lodge is a very beautiful setting. The owners went through a lot of trouble to ensure it looks very nice. The rooms are furnished well however what makes the visit a good one are the smaller things. I felt Willows lacked in this. A few things I didn't enjoy and lacked: 1. Pretoria is a very warm place, aircons will be great. 2. With warmth comes mosquitoes, so something in the room to assist with this was lacking. 3. Bathroom had no bin and only equipped with one soap bar, shampoo and body cream, nothing more. 4. No hair dryer (this was a killer). 5. Kettle out with coffee and tea, but no milk. 5. No notice by the phone which line to call for reception or room service. 6. No room service menu. 7. They chose to cover the glass of the doors with something that imitates a sand blasted look and feel, rather than getting blinds or curtains which I understand is a cost save but it wasn't that nice not seeing the outside when your doors are closed. It felt very claustrophobic. 8. Wireless didn't work - no reception in the rooms. So in summary, whilst clearly a lot was invested in the overall look and feel of the place, the rooms lacked things the average traveler, especially a business traveler requires. Staff was very friendly though. I probably won't stay there again.

My clients stayed with Willows Lodge and we over paid for a group and the owner Robert promised to refund them. I have this on email from him on 06 December 2023.
He is now not answering our calls or responding to emails. Not sure how to go about getting their refund.

Room 8 we stayed in was a cold and poorly lit room. The Jacuzzi bath=broken. Black tie function (Robert Burns Evening 27 July) was marred by waiting staff who had been very poorly (or at all?) trained. The (warm) white wine ran out BEFOFRE the function even started. The MCC was also WARM. The main course (rare roast beef) was cold and served on cold plates. Serving the main dishes to 200 attendees was random and tables ate up to 20 minutes apart as waiting staff randomly distributed mains to the 20 tables, in some instances clearing plates before same table had even been served. The venue is a large room with a lot of glass and had no heating at all in it, it was very cold. The sound system was poor, we could not hear the speeches. Breakfast the next morning (advertised from 6:30am) was still not available at 8am. No sign of management and very few junior staff around. When we checked out we merely left our keys at reception, no staff to be found. Don't waste your time or money going there.

Looking for accommodation in the Lynnwood area I came across Willows Country Lodge and was attracted by their website that shows double rooms at R1100 per night. I made a booking enquiry via the booking form on their website and received an email with the usual terms and conditions along with an invoice for R1250, referring to new rates. I do not appreciate such discrepancy between what they advertise and what they actually charge. Such a bad first impression is a deal-breaker for me so I found alternative accommodation elsewhere.

My wife and I had dinner to celebrate our anniversary and the reservation process was fairly easy and everything was arranged plus we received a free bottle of champagne.

The food was good although the steak was a bit overcooked but it didn't take away the fact that our Waiter was attentive and efficient even though he seemed to be the only one working the floor at the time.

What I found was most valuable was the tranquility and lack of traffic which made have a romantic dinner most memorable because the ambiance was just perfect.

I have been to this Lodge years ago , but have really forgotten about it . This weekend we were looking for a nice place to have lunch and I remembered about this place . The place is beautiful, with stunning bedrooms , dining room areas , pool and tasteful interior . The receptionist , Kariena ... Oh what a lovely person and the chef , Oscar a real treat . The rest of the staff were just as friendly . It is just such a pity that this Lodge is not marketing properly with local Pretoria people . There are so view Lodges / Hotels in this area , this place should be packed during the weekends . The lunch ..... Was exceptional. Well done
