My husband and I recently spent a weekend at this establishment. The rooms are spacious, well furnished, modern and well equipped. We had a fridge and a microwave as well as a nespresso machine (which is a great touch for any coffee addict!). Plenty of parking is available. The location is fabulous. In Hatfield but slightly off the main streets so although convenient the area is also very quiet. Brooklyn Mall, Menlyn Mall and the university are all a stone's throw away. An excellent breakfast too! We will be back.

It's always hard for me to connect with places I stay at immediately, but mine with this B&B was love at first sight. It is an exceptional place and well run by Lizette. She will look after you like that special aunt who seems to think all that matters is you.

The rooms are tastefully put together and cleanliness is undoubtedly the best. Simply well kept.

My husband and I stay at this lovely Bnb as our preferred accommodation whenever we need to go to Pretoria independently or together. The hosts are the most wonderful friendly people, the rooms are modern and really well appointed, and the breakfasts are absolutely excellent.

All the nearby lodging was full because of a major tennis tournament at the university, so I ended up staying here. My stay was very worthwhile in all respects. Each room or suite is unique, and it appears that they can cater to a wide range of lodging needs. This place has been tastefully updated and has lots of character, and a quiet backyard with a pleasant pool. The lady manager was very helpful to me, and thoughtfully brought out a large beach towel when she noticed me relaxing in a lounge by the pool. The breakfast was outstanding, and certainly about the best I’ve ever had. There is a buffet section with a wide selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, etc. and the main course is made to order. Hatfield is a quiet and leafy suburb away from downtown Pretoria. The Hatfield Gautrain Station to downtown, Johannesburg, etc. is within walking distance of this place, making it convenient for those travelling without a car. I’d highly recommend it, and if you decide to stay, I’m quite certain you’ll believe you made an excellent choice.

Beautiful and quiet place in the middle of Hatfield, not far from Gautrain station. Breakfast divine. A real surprise. Architecture amazing and atmosphere welcoming! Can recommend it and will stay there again in no time.

My daughter is a student at University of Pretoria and my husband and I have stayed at B and b Hatfield on a number of occasions over the past few years.
We have enjoyed it each and every time. Very safe, clean comfortable accommodation with a homely feel. It is close to everything but still has a lovely country feel when in the grounds. We are always warmly welcomed by Errol, Des. Lizette and of course the lovable friendly Mykah!

I decided to add this B&B because I've had really good experiences with it twice now and want to support Des and Errol who are doing such a great job.

The B&B is relatively affordable compared to others in the area, and yet it really surprised me with how much it offered. Small things like a Nespresso machine in some of the rooms, a jar of cotton buds in the bathroom alongside the normal little shampoos and things, two fresh rusks on the tea tray.

Also, Errol, the co-owner of the place, is an architect by trade, and it shows. The rooms are just very skillfully laid out so that it's a real pleasure to relax there. Large windows and, if you're staying on that side of the property, a lovely verandah area, add to the feeling of spaciousness and sun. Interesting but high quality, comfortable furniture.

Finally I was impressed by their flexibility. They picked me up from the Gautrain (which is just a few blocks away actually), would always drop me there on request, and allowed me to leave my suitcase there for the day after I checked out so that I didn't have to drag it all over town before leaving at the end of the day.

It goes without saying that things are clean and neat etc.

My wife and I used Bed & Breakfast in Hatfield as our home base for a recent extended stay in South Africa, spending one night in Room 5 (B&B) and about a month in Room 4 (self-catering), and leaving our luggage with them during our trips to other cities. Our extensive pre-trip email communications made it clear that Désirée and Errol run a first-class operation; their professionalism and flexibility were much appreciated, and we will certainly stay with them again the next time we are in Pretoria.

There are dozens of guest houses in Pretoria, with a concentration in Hatfield. Regular room rates with Des & Errol are in line with the others, but the rooms themselves are larger and nicer than what we have seen elsewhere, and the significant discounts for long-term stays made it a bargain, as well. All of the rooms have lots of natural light and reliable WiFi and satellite TV service. Portable gas and fixed electric room heaters supplement the thick duvets to keep you warm in the winter months. You are free to use the laundry room in the evenings, after housekeeping has finished for the day. Breakfasts (included in the B&B room rate, reasonably priced if you are in a self-catering unit) are made to order, ample, and delicious. Mika the big, sweet Rottweiler will accept but not demand head scratches, if you are so inclined, and she won’t come into your room unless explicitly invited.

The property is walled and gated (like nearly everything in Pretoria) and includes rooms spread out among a few small buildings. Security within the property was never a concern, though the streets outside are quite dark in the evenings, and the walk back from the Burnett Street shops and restaurants or the Gautrain station, though not at all far, was sometimes not without its hassles (heavy traffic, aggressive panhandlers). Quiet nights make for great sleep. During our stay, there was significant daytime noise from the construction (right outside Room 4) of a rather large building that will contain Errol’s new architecture studio; if you need quiet during working hours, it might be wise to check before booking to see if that project has been completed.

Room 5 has one king bed and one twin bed, along with a large table and chairs and a leather comfy chair that would impress your architect friends. It has a spa-like bathroom, a large dining table (but no cooking facilities) and lots of floor space. It would be fine for a longer stay, unless you prefer to cook your own meals.

Room 4 also has one king and one twin bed, but in two different rooms, separated by a nice bathroom with a large shower stall and tub. The king bedroom has a desk and direct access to the back yard/pool area, and the room with the twin bed could stand alone as an efficiency apartment, with a couch, television, and kitchen (refrigerator, four burners, full sink, stocked cabinets, but no oven). We really felt at home there and would gladly have spent another month.

In all, big thanks to Désirée and Errol for a great, comfortable stay in Hatfield, and also to Lindiwe for her thorough housekeeping services and giant smiles. We’d love to stay with them again in Pretoria or show them around New York if they ever make their way here.

I stayed here for a short trip, in order to visit my embassy, and would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
The location is good (close to public transport links and shops), rooms are clean and tastefully decorated and management is friendly. There is free wifi, and breakfast is very good.

Stayed there for 12 nights. Very nice rooms and incredibly pleasant owners. The place is easy to find, located in a safe area, just unfortunatelly close to a hospital, which could be too noisy for someone, but nothing serious. Good restaurants and malls nearby. The B&B is stylishly decorated. Would recommend anytime.

The neighbourhood is generally quiet however since it is a student hub you might find that from time to time the neighbouring properties host small social events that might be slightly noisy (depending on your personal tolerance level) though not too intrusive."
