We stayed here for one night before travelling on the next day. It is usually used by business people, less so by tourists. The house is lovely and the breakfast room is stylish and staff helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great and the eggs were very tasty. They do not usually provide lunch but kindly made us a toasted sandwich. In the evening we ordered in and had pizza, which was good but not very warm.

Our room was in the garden right by the pool. It was a good size with a big sofa. The bed was comfortable and it was all very clean. The kitchenette was useful and there was a big fridge. The crockery was very nice. The bathroom was small but the shower was efficient although it had a high side to get in to the actual shower.

The pool was nice but a bit chilly. Once in though it was very refreshing. It had steps to get in but no rail which would have been helpful. The gardens are beautiful with a pond with lots of big fish. It was really peaceful with lots of different places to sit in or out if the sun. It is tucked away on a private estate and feels very safe.

Jeanne was very helpful and friendly. All the staff were nice as well. I’m really glad we stayed here and would recommend it.

A great find. Excellent location, secure parking, beautiful gardens, the breakfast was stunning and very welcoming staff. Will definitely stay at Farmers Folly Guest House again next time we are in Pretoria.

The gardens and buildings at Farmer's Folly are neatly upkept. We experienced beauty and tranquility while there. The big shower is highly enjoyable. The breakfast was a great treat! We would definitely recommend this to friends!

This place is beautiful and in a quiet area. Koi pond, outside area beautiful rooms. When I was searching for accommodation for 3 days, this place stood out. The price was right and it was close enough to where I had to be. I phoned and asked if they have a restaurant on the premises, because I need to eat breakfast and dinner there. I was assured that there was. So I booked. Came here, friendly people and the room was beautiful. There is a kettle in the room, but no refreshments (coffee, tea, milk, sugar) with it. They don't have soap, shampoo or any of those toiletries in the bathroom. The duvet on my bed looks like a double bed duvet on a king size bed. The fridge in the room make such noises at night that you can't sleep. Looking forward to breakfast, this is seperate from the room price. R100 for breakfast and R140 for dinner (photo). Look at the menu, what! How can you charge R100 for that breakfast, but I'm hungry, so let's eat. This is now at 7:00 in the morning. Want to order, sorry mam, breakfast is Finished. Okay, no problem. Left for the day, came back that evening. Ordered take aways from night 1, ask to buy water, sorry they don't sell water or any drinks. Day 3 the morning asked them to please prepare curry and rice for me for that evening for 18:00. That evening, got to reception asked if my food was ready, yes mam. No table set up, so I asked where I must eat, in the kitchen? Yes, or if you want to here.. Shocked by the answer I sat in the kitchen, neat and tidy I must say. Got my food (foto), what a disgrace. Full plate of rice, few pieces of meat (if you see meat, you win a price) mostly bones, no gravy. I refused to eat that, the chef came to my room, how disappointed I was in this place. I asked the receptionist who owns this place, she said: "Oh, it's a Nigerian renting it". I'm sorry sir, if this is how you run a Guest House, you won't survive.

Amoris Guest House, Formerly Farmer's Folly was, prior to the pandemic, my go-to accommodation in Pretoria.

On Monday 30 March a colleague arrives there, having had his booking confirmed on 28 March, only to discover there was no accommodation.

I arrived on 4 April to discover that, despite having a voucher, there was no record of my booking. I confirmed that the travel agent had made the booking and made provisions for payment. Staff were hostile and bad-mannered. I was eventually checked into a room, the state of which was deplorable - dirty, no kettle, chipped tiling, no tea. It was the worst accommodation experience I have had in many years. Be warned.

All round very disappointing. Looks stunning from the outside but not so great inside. . Rooms dark and dingy. No soap or shampoo in the bathrooms. Bedside lights were also not working. Voile curtains that should have been white were yellow. Really not up to a 4 star grading.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a gem in the middle of town. The stillness was magnificent. The beauty of the layout en surrounding gardens a pleasure. The staff were extremely helpful, sincere and very friendly.
Thank you for a wonderful experience and a thoroughly enjoyable visit.
Regards,
Salome Saaiman

I spend 4 nights in the self-catering studio apartment # 10 and was pleasantly surprised.
The apartment contains an en-suite (small) bathroom, king-size bed, desk, open closets and a kitchenette, fully equipped with fridge, cooker and cook-ware, table and chair.
A wall-mounted flat-screen TV to view from the bed.
The bed is comfortable and so are the pillows.
All in all, just right in a quietly understated, casual style without too much fluff or frills.

There's still some lingering evidence of the past in this former ambassador's residence; the garden and pool area are compact but adequate and reflect a homey, private atmosphere.

WiFi is spotty at best, mostly in-'n-out at night.
And be aware of the constant drone of the pool equipment just below the window at this particular location in the pool area - it's running day & night 24/7.

Staff is friendly, helpful and not overbearing - quietly available in the background to assist with any issue.
Upon departure, Heidi graciously offered a ride to Hatfield station, which was much appreciated on a Sunday without bus service - Thanks once more Heidi !

Will certainly return to this delightful place !

The guesthouse is very easy to find as it pops up on google maps. My room was on the garden which was very convenient as I had to come and go at all hours for work purposes. I called at 7pm and having stayed at the guesthouse 2 nights before, they were able to book me in the same room, leave the garden door open and left a light on for me. The room was impeccably clean and spacious with comfortable beds. Breakfast was a very large spread of delights and one of the most tasty breakfasts I have had in a guesthouse in a long time. The staff were incredibly friendly and the convenience of a card machine is on hand. Absolutely adored my stay there.

We had a long day on the road and found Farmers Folly. We were greeted friendly warm hospitality and a beautifully decorated place to stay. The room was quiet and the bed superb. I will recommend it far and wide. Thank you!
