We stayed at the Lakes Boutique Lodge for two weeks upon recently relocating to South Africa. We didn't know much about the country nor about the location of the lodge, but could not have been more pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The lodge is located inside an amazing golf estate - top most security in place and beautiful vast green spaces with lakes and a game reserve. We were welcomed warmly at the lodge only to meet the owner the next day who went all out to assist us (even by taking us to the shopping centre and arranging for us to buy our necessities). The other staff at the lodge were extremely friendly and very helpful while the lodge itself was well maintained and room very cozy. The most important of all however was that the lodge allowed pets which is not something we found to be too common when doing our only research of places to stay in Pretoria. We were very happy to stay here and would surely recommend this lodge to anyone visiting Pretoria!!!

the views for the conference room are spectacular. The rooms cater for different needs and are perfectly designed. The gazebo is cosy and comfortable. the service by both Nonto and Rudzi is out of this world. The food is delicious and nicely presented.

the pricing for conferencing is surprisingly cheap and does not match their 5-star boutique sterling service. Definitely my choice of luxury conferencing. whoever said luxurious has to be expensive has not been here before.

Our stay was short but very pleasant. Staff were friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful with arranging access in and out of the estate due to the times we would be entering and exiting. Breakfast the next morning was very pleasant.

Pros:

The stay was a warm welcome and easy check-in.
We stayed in the superior room. The rooms are ok, clean and neat.
Beautiful golf course in an estate, especially if you want to do a bit of walking.

Cons:
The rooms are very small and looks onto a tennis court (5m away) and you have to keep your windows closed for any privacy, as you can have people looking into your bathroom.

Tennis players from early morning till late afternoon, with shouting and having fun.
The units are tightly bundled together.

The pool was more like a small splash pool and right outside the dining area and wasnt very clean.

The Club food was way below average and service takes a long time.

Not worth the price and the average stay for a night over if you are from afar.

The Lakes is a lovely place to stay. The staff are all helpful, accommodating and very friendly. The menu is varied and the food very good. The rooms are great for short- and long-term stay. And in a city where walking is not particularly safe, it's wonderful to have the space, including the golf course paths, to walk at any time. Avoid the Clubhouse restaurants; however convenient, the food is terrible.

This place is beautiful and the service is excellent - staff is friendly and helpful . The only thing that needs to be looked at is the shower - i think if i can get a shower with a door next time when i come back that would be lovely. . The one we had water was flooding to the toilet side.. but all in all everything was amazing and we enjoyed our stay.

My family and I recently stayed at Lakes Lodge from February to March 2020. We stayed for a longer term but were eventually forced to return to the States due to the pandemic. The staff bent over backwards for us. The rooms were pristine. And we were next door to a playground with a lot of safe walking paths around. Overall, it was such a good experience and we’ll definitely be back!

As most of us book online hoping and praying everything would be as is, l got the short end of the stick. The apartment l got (114)was really small kitchen was dingy there's no space for anything else guess it would suit a single traveller who doesn't cook much. They have these fancy combination oven microwaves under the hob one needs an IQ of 200 to operate it. Living area is also really cramped and not practical.

Main bedroom is massive with a similarly massive walk in shower, shower room door is glass so forget about privacy when you are on the loo and someone is in the bedroom. I understand they have nicer bigger rooms but lm revewing what l saw not what l heard.

As this isn't what l had seen online and due to stay 3 weeks l rung the manageress to air my greveance she refused to come and talk to me and sent me a cleaner to speak to. Cleaner went and told her Royal Highness what l had said she rung me and still refused to come and talk to me. Escalated issue with the owner who said manager would come and apologise. She came to talk to me at dinner and l never got that apology.

With such treatment l had no choice but cut my stay short and go to places where my custom is valued and where lm treated as a human being and not feel I'm insignificant. Being a post and sadly presently racism rearing its ugliness in the country lm left to wonder had l been white would this manager come running to check why l was unhappy seeing l was booked to stay there for 23 nights and this isn't a cheap place. And her not apologising to me actually left me thinking lm not worth an apology from her.
