I have stayed here on business three time for 6 weeks each trip. Clean, spacious and quiet. The staff are wonderful - helpful, courteous and eager. Claudine, especially, welcomes me back warmly! The pool is lovely in the hot weather. Everything one needs for self catering is available with a nearby grocery store. A small Laundromat is available for a modest fee ands each room has an iron and small board ... if you need a bigger board, the staff will supply it. The location is secure and safe. Last time I was lucky to have a room with a small yard to enjoy.

Stayed here a few times before. Unlike a city centre hotel this hotel is comprised of 2 levels of chalets fully equipped with a kitchen. It is listed as self cateting but there is a dining room by Reception. Had scrumptious roast pork, crackling, apple sauce and everything last night. There is also a limited room service (arabiata pasta nice). Breakfast good too.
There is a small swimming pool in its own gated garden near Reception. Laundry can be done outside or you can DIY in the Laundromat hut. Buy washing liquid in Reception and have 4 x new Rd 5 coins for washer and dryer. Only one washer at present...there were more on a previous visit.
Nearby is the Eastwood Village centre with Woolworths and good souvenir shop.
Walkable to Hatfield Gau train station to visit Sandton shopping centre in Jo'burg. Safe modern a/c train service.
Tucked opposite US Embassy and backs on to UK Embassy.

We previously stayed here for an extended time in 2013 and this was a repeat. The best thing going for this accommodation is its location, the complimentary 10km shuttle service and the friendly attentiveness of the staff. The grounds and units are well maintained. We liked the efficiency units which offer kitchenette facilities ideal for those guests who are on a longer term stay. However, we spent a weekend in another of the chain’s hotels which was also rated 4 star. The difference was striking. The furnishings here are definitely dated - ‘luxury ‘ is really a mis-nomer. For example, the beds are unfashionably low and not especially comfortable. The microwave had mechanical controls and the stove was well past its best before date, albeit serviceable. Personally, I also think that a hotel security review would not go amiss, allowing for its neighbours [embassies]. In summary, we enjoyed our lengthy sojourn but this lady really needs a facelift to retain a four star feel.

Recently renovated lobby, it gives the impression that this is a 4 star hotel, but when you have a closer look, it ressembles more a 3 star hotel.

Stayed here on business for almost 2 months and during that time period the following happened:
- no water one evening
- no wi-fi and TV for 4 days (except in the lobby) - makes for very long evenings
- no electricity for a whole day with issues the following day as well

Plus sides:
- Staff is very nice. They will try to help when they can, especially the front counter staff. If you do have a problem or need help with sorting out your travels, you should seek assistance from Claudine who has been most useful.
- Breakfast has all you need
- You can walk to the grocery store
- They have a free shuttle service until 2PM (except weekends), which makes it convenient as there is not much around the hotel except embassies

Suggestions for improvement:
- At the time I was here, there was more staff than guests. The hotel seems to be under Auction (as per sign). To obtain financial gains, the owners should probably review whether all this staff walking around is actually needed.
- The website indicates there's a gym, but it is not functional. For safety purposes, it should really be closed down as it is actually dangerous (old machine, power plugs don't work, very little air in the room).
- The swimming pool and its seating area deserves attention, even when there's no kids around. Upon arrival of new young guests, they started cleaning the pool. There's two long chairs, which are starting to worn out
- The rooms are old and not all that clean. Carpets have a lot of stains on them, bathroom shower has mold (visited two rooms before choosing), sofa are drastically warned out that you can feel the springs and the kitchens have the very bare minimum to cook.

In brief, I would recommend staying in a different hotel. With Uber being in the city, you can basically stay anywhere and conveniently uber to business or leisure.

I stayed at The Villas in August 2015 for a business trip. It is described as a 4 star luxury hotel but it is not. It is more of a motel set-up. It is composed of several different two story buildings with rooms on each level and a lot of parking spaces. Once the sun goes down it is a little creepy. There is a security guard in the back where the cars enter and exit but it still felt like a creepy motel from a scary B-movie.

On a positive note, the rooms are quite large. Mine had a separate bedroom with full bathroom (tub and separate shower), living room and kitchenette with fridge. It also had a patio that was accessible from the living room. The hotel also had a laundry room with a washer and dryer that I was incredibly grateful for. They both worked great.

The breakfast buffet was okay but the service was not very good and the quality of the food was also not good. For instance, some days I was served coffee and other days I had to ask for it. Also, many of the fruits were canned. The fresh fruit like pineapple and melon often had the core and skin on it and it was not very good. The dinner is horrible. Avoid eating there at dinner. All of the soups are canned and if you order the waffles for dessert expect frozen Eggo's. The only edible items for dinner are BLTs or ham and cheese sandwiches.

The service at the hotel was not good. Most of the front desk staff sit by the bar and watch t.v. I went to the front desk to ask a question and had to stand there for about 5 minutes until their show went to commercial to get some help. This was the norm so if you need help, wait until the shows are on commercial to ask for it.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel unless you have business at the U.S Embassy or Indian Embassy which are both across the street. Otherwise, find a nicer hotel with better accommodations and service.

I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at The Villas. Even the single/studio room is very well equipped for basic self catering if needed. The room was clean, comfortable and relatively quiet apart from some traffic noise during rush hour. Food was tasty and the portions were sizeable. The staff I encountered were, without exception, professional, friendly and helpful, and really made me feel welcome. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The only suggestion I would have would be to extend the time of the complimentary shuttle service to 7pm.

Nothing luxurious here and someone ought to take a hard look at the decor in the public areas. Why not remove the plastic plants on the fake waterfall at the pool? They add nothing to the ambience and could be said to lower the tone even further. The pool, by the way, is right under the dining-room window.... so no private dips are possible!
But all that said the rooms are perfectly comfortable and staff are friendly and helpful and that is the main thing.
I found the hotel area very noisy - the access gates creak something terrible - Q20 guys! And the conference centre certainly needs some TLC inn the form of a handyman maybe?
Hotel food is almost always dismal (except breakfasts) but the chef at the Villas is a very obliging gentlemen and will try to help out with specific requests. But be aware that meals will be on the thin side if you are vegetarian and are undoubtedly very very dull!

About 45 minutes drive from Joberg airport. Our main purpose was in Pretoria, so we were happy to be welcomed at The Villas with a room with a kitchenette, and a nice patio next to the living room, where you could sit down, enjoy some sunshine ( beautiful weather) smoke a cuban cigar (yes available nearby at a great price!)and enjoy your favorite Pinotage! It is self-catering, but you can order room service, they also have a list of restaurants you can order and they deliver. In-dining is available all day.

Its about 10 minutes drive to Brooklyn mall, where you will find good restaurants( Moo Moo's menu is great) and good shops. Eastwood Village is about a five-minute walk from the Villas. And it has a small Wooly's(woolworths) grocery store where you can also find everything you need, plus ready to eat salads, rotisserie chicken and meat pies for those drizzly days you want to stay in....
Eastwood village has Cafe 41 with a great greek inspired menu, and fabulous red velvet cake. Also have Harry's pancake house with both sweet and savoury options. Also has a barber shop, a salon, an african restaurant and an amazing Souvenir shop, Delegoa.

The staff are friendly, our favorite is the Asst. front Mgr. , Claudine! She is a pro! She is very attentive, we got most of our information from her, from restaurant recommendations, to DHL deliveries, how to charge credits on your phone, and everything else. She is always out front, happily talking to guests. So if yiu need anything, just ask for her!

We did have one issue with the advertised complimentary shuttle within 10 kilometers. Some staff will say, they do not do it, and we have to book a taxi, some staff would ask where you are going and then say that they shuttle within 5 kilometers only. So they have to charge us. It is clear on the brochures, between 7am - 4pm, mondays-fridays, its free as long as its within 10 kilometers and that includes the hatfield station where you can take the train to Joberg. Not a big issue, but you need to be aware so you know what to do. We booked the hotel taxi drivers as well and they are okay.

Overall, good place to stay for the 3 weeks i was in Pretoria!

The Villas was the perfect location for my business trip to Pretoria. Whilst not close to the airport road access is easy and the Hotel has secure parking close to your room which makes travelling easy especially as we arrived late at night. Staff were incredibly helpful and checkin /out was quick and efficient - just what you need after a long journey. Rooms are clean and comfortable with everything and more than you need. My stay was just for two nights but a longer stay would also have been comfortable. Breakfast was excellent - it starts early which is good for a business hotel. Would definitely use again when back in Pretoria.

I stayed for 6 weeks while on a business assignment. Being greeted by the friendly staff every morning started my day on a happy note. And being welcomed back at the end of the day made it feel like home very quickly. The suites are comfortable and I enjoyed having a walkout backyard. The breakfast buffet had a lot of delicious hot and cold choices. The proximity to the Eastwood Plaza is a bonus…you can get groceries or take-away to eat in your room. The only things I found frustrating were the noisy fan in the bathroom and the very slow internet connection. But the business office did offer free internet and printing services – a bonus!! A big thank you to Zaza, Claudine, AnneMary and the other girls in the front office for their good service and to all the others…Steven, Raymond, and the restaurant staff ….for making my stay so enjoyable!!
