I booked an overnight stay for my family at 137 @ Murray via Bookings.com. The price for a family unit was well priced and the internet pictures looked great. We arrived at night and our first impressions were not good. The entrance was under renovation and it seemed like we woke up the night staff. The receptionist who met us was not aware of the rate on Bookings.com and was going to charge a higher rate. After my insistence, he called his supervisor to get agreement on the rate. He struggled to operate the card machine and I had to help him. The room we were given did not look like the pictures we saw on the internet. As it was late at night, we decided to make the most of what we had. In the morning, we were able to see the property properly. The B&B accommodation is spread across four different accommodation sections : the old main house, the Kiepersol building, and two newer building blocks. We were given a room at the Kiepersol building, which is a converted face brick house. The rooms do not look like the internet pictures, which were taken at the new buildings. The B&B has nice garden areas to relax. The breakfast was fairly good. The staff were able to accommodate our dietary needs. Other Positives : Good value for money. Beds were comfortable. Shower and bathroom was large and clean. The sockets in the bedrooms have USB ports. The accommodation is close to Brooklyn Mall. The property appears to be geared for conferences. Negatives : The Kiepersol accommodation is not as nice as the newer blocks. The parking areas are very tight. There are a lot of rooms in the property and one didn't have a sense of privacy as there are other guests moving about all the time.

Dear Sanjay Thank you for the valuable feedback - Murray 137 Guesthouse Firstly, I would like to thank you for staying with us at Murray 137 Guesthouse during your recent visit to Pretoria. Thank you for also taking the time to review and to give us feedback with regards to your recent stay with us. We really appreciate Guest feedback to assist us in ensuring we meet and exceed our Guest expectations. Your comments are highly appreciated! My Team and I always do our best to ensure our Guests are well looked after and we strive to ensure our property is well looked after. I am sad to see that you did not enjoy your entire stay with us, we will work harder to ensure we deliver better service and facilities in the future. Rates on 3rd party websites are not always corresponding with our system rates because of different promotional rates that are available. Our rate should however always be the best available and we will work on this matter. Our rooms are all different in size and décor and we’ve tried to give you the best room available. On the websites we have photos of our different rooms however we cannot place photos of each room. I would like to thank you for the positive feedback as well and for the kind compliments, it is highly appreciated! I would like to ensure you get the best room next time you stay with us, please contact me personally on derick@hotel224.com to make your reservation. We do really hope that we will see you soon again. Kind regards Derick Tait General Manager

Send out a sms to your visitors informing them of load shedding schedule and put some more battery lights in the room.
Over all we had a good stay and the staff was very friendly. I did call before our arrival to confirm the room we are sleeping in. I booked a family unit (me, my husband and 11 month old) When we arrived it was not the room I booked. Your staff was friendly enough to bring us a camping cot and bedding for the baby. Thank you

Dear Ijorda707311, Thank you for choosing the Murray 137 Street Guesthouse and for taking the time to send your review and feedback. We are very glad to hear that the staff were able to provide you with a camping cot. Kindly note that we can only allocate our rooms on the morning of the arrival date. The room allocations are dependent on the rooms available on the date of arrival. For this reason we cannot guarantee specific rooms. We do however guarantee a specific room type. This is a great place to be if you are looking for comfortable accommodation. Very clean and the staff is very friendly and always willing to assist when you need it. Only downside is the location, its located near a busy street in an urban area so you might find the cars a bit noisy at times. I would like there to be microwaves in the room too. The free wifi was very decently fast and had no restrictions for use.

My mother and I called ahead to book at 137 Murray guesthouse based on recommendations from Unicef colleagues who place guests on official visits there. We talked to David Sombane on the type of room we wanted and my mother had a follow-up call with him to ensure the room assigned at 137 Murray had a shower since she has had hip replacement surgery and didn’t want to deal with bathtubs. I got a confirmation email with Hotel 224 in the header which puzzled me a bit but given that we had both talked to him about our specifications, I figured it was some sort of holding company. We arrived to be told that we didn’t have a reservation at Murray but that our reservation was at their sister hotel. We were exhausted and rather confused so we asked our driver whether he knew this place and he advised us not to stay in that hotel and location. Luckily, Brooklyn Guesthouse across the street was able to accommodate us and we had a wonderful week long stay there. However, getting a refund for my booking ended up being a pain since we had to go in person to hotel 224 to present my credit card and the friend who initially was willing to drive us there in the evening changed her mind when she heard the location so we had to Uber there the following morning. I must say we really appreciated the professionalism of Bernice van Zijl which was in sharp contrast to the obfuscation of Mr. Sombane. Things ended up working well for us at Brooklyn Guesthouse but consider this fair warning in case he tries this switcheroo move on you.

overall it was an excellent place to stay. I already recommended colleagues and friends to stay at 137 Murray Guest House. The UNICEF office's first preference is 137 Murray guest House for its location, service, and reasonable cost. Appreciate 137 Murray Guest House makes a special rate for short stays as well like 3-4 weeks. There is a good relationship between UNICEF and 137 Murray GH. Thanks to all members of this Guest House. I will remember them always.

This is definitely one of the best guest houses I've stayed at. The staff members were friendly and assisted with everything if the need arose. Breakfast was also well prepared and each morning had other options available ensuring a variety. I would definitely recommend 137 @ Murray to anyone who visits the surrounding area.

I was in the city but in a very quiet area, with so much relaxation.
The place is very lovely, the staff is friendly and very helpful.
I had a very spacious room with antique furniture, giving it a vintage look with a modern feel, quite beautiful

This guest house is a lovely option for visitors. The staff are excellent, competent and extremely warm and helpful. I had a very comfortable bed as well. The location is very central to where many of the international organizations and embassies are as well. There is a cute restaurant across the street. I felt safe and very welcomed by the team here.

Excellent service. The staff members are always willing to assist on very short notice. They go out of their way to accommodate us, even if our clients arrive at the airport late at night they are still willing to host dinner.

Although it was a bit pricey, I might make use of this venue again. It was booked very late and the staff were very accommodating. Breakfast was a pleasure with helping hands all over. The only way to improve on this breakfast is to make it a breakfast in bed.
The only negative on this facility is maybe the parking arrangements. The allocated parking as per staff instruction was not available on my return.
Thank you for making me feel welcome (this is not for the lady in charge who did not return my greeting).
