We booked a 2 night stay (3-4 Jan) at the Maslow and upgraded to a suite when we got to the hotel, at an additional cost. The service was good (Nelson and Lesego). The suite was very spacious with a separate lounge, high up with a great view of Menlyn, walk in dressing room, very spacious bathroom, extra toilet and the bed was large and comfortable. My boyfriend loves a tv in the bedroom and this bedroom totally met his expectations with an extra tv. I was very much looking forward to having a night time swim in the Solis Bar swimming pool (like the last time I was there in October) but sadly we found out that the facilities close at 6pm.
The breakfast for the rooms on the higher floors are held in a more private dining area which offered us views of the town. The breakfast was good, everything was fresh and the cappucinos are great.
If there are no shows being held, there isn't much to do in the area besides shop and gamble. If you're into neither, I suggest making full use of the fantastic room and the pools during the day.

We stayed at the Maslow for 5 days and decided to upgrade to one of the suites on the 10th floor. The room was nice with small kitchenette, living room , and 1 and half bathrooms. The bedroom was comfortable and internet connection/ wifi was relatively strong throughout our stay. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the convenience of the restaurants and especially enjoyed our time at The Rockets. There is a casino and a plethora of dining choices to choose from. The location is ideal and just a 10 minute walk or 3 minute Uber/Bolt to Menlyn mall. The only complaint that we have is that both of our suitcases that had lock codes on them were both tampered with (we suspect by housekeeping). On the second day neither one of our locks worked and this only happens after several failed attempts of wrong codes are in put. Thankfully we secured our valuables in the safe. It's unfortunate that this experience put a damper on our stay as we opted to not have our rooms cleaned thereafter. If this incident hadn't taken place it would have been 5 stars for sure.

We always stay at this hotel as it is really well located and near many restaurants and shopping malls. The only downfall is that the service took a knock. Check-in was super fast, yet staff can really do an effort to smile and be more friendly. Room service forgot the cheese on the hamburger even after I repeated the order 3 times. Our bathroom light above the basins didn't work. The hotel was rather full, and still the restaurant on the 12th floor for breakfast was closed. One of the reasons we always take the more expensive room is to have breakfast there. The downstairs breakfast area is like a school hall. Extremely crowed and loud. This stays a great hotel, but attention must be given to detail.

We booked in for a two night stay for Father’s Day through Agoda. To start off we have been to many five star hotels in South Africa and overseas and have never had such n issue before. We requested a room on one of the top floors as we wanted to use the facilities on the upper floor such as the indoor pool and bar etc. We were met with the manager Nonhlanhla whose demeanour, attitude and manner of speaking is akin to that of a prison warden and not a manager of a four star hotel. Instead of a warm and friendly person who treats their patrons accordingly , she abruptly advised that we would have to pay more for the room on the higher floor. We advised her that the booking on Agoda did not specify any detail of where the room was located and she said Agoda is to blame. When we contacted Agoda we were advised that this was Maslow Hotel’s issue as Agoda only advertises their description of the rooms. Therefore it’s Maslow Hotel that needs to specifically state that the room booked is on a lower floor and you will have no access to the upper floors amenities. This experience with Nonhlanhla leaves a bitter taste in our mouths and has started off, what was supposed to be an enjoyable stay, on a sour note. This is especially unacceptable taking into account in the times of Corona , patrons to this establishment should be treated like gold.

Lovely place, with no guest relations, Upon arrival, refused entry by rude security guard to main hotel entrance had to utilize parking garage entrance, no porter service available, reception staff untrained and did not tell us where to go or how to use lifts via your room key card. No manager available to address shortfalls. New hotel but TV remotes not working, room service unacceptable, food arrived uncovered and not as per menu description. Breakfast venue what a joke you stand in lines for omelettes only to be told go and stand in another line as they only do fried eggs, no signs. Only ViP guest receive special treatment and you need to stand in line behind waiters to make your own coffee as waiters only make tea/coffee for ViP clients. At no stage during our stay could we get hold of any manager to address our concerns and experience.

Attempted to resolve this issue with Top management of hotel but to date ignored by him, after almost two months trying to get response from Top Management, decide to cut my losses and accept an apology e-mail from their guest relations and accepted a refund for our stay. My honest opinion the lack of leadership and management is clear reason why the Maslow is not to standard and if they only could realize this they could become a great place, so I personally rather would utilize far better hotels and guesthouse to stay in Pretoria than The Maslow. Hopefully future guests would receive better treatment at The Maslow.

The hotel itself is fine the room was spotless and comfortable, the check-in process painless and they allowed a late check out without problems.

My complaint is with the Breakfast which if not included in the room rate is whopping 290zar. And was simply appalling, I would have been uncomfortable paying 29zar for what was prepared. What made things so much worse was that none of the staff seemed to actually care, this is buffet dining, with everything cooked up front and kept warm which is quite common, however when I say warm that is a relative term, it was barely warm, and the streaky bacon was actually stone cold as the heating lamp was not working. The yogurt was certainly a very cheap imitation. So if your idea of having a fine breakfast involves Luke warm food poorly prepared, with poor staff that don't seem too terribly interested in anything then I guess you are in for a real treat.

We ordered a Meze Platter but instead they brought us something completely different. After waiting an hour and a half for our order, instead of bringing us chickpea falafels, hake goujons, chicken goujons, and a trio of sauces - they bought us cheese croquettes, chicken wings, hake strips (which we took as the hake gojouns?) and only 2 sauces. We did not even bother trying to order again because the front desk wasn’t very helpful when we tried to contact them about the problem and we didn’t want to wait another 2 hours for the correct dish. The board they bought us was also not even on the menu, so we guessed that they just made their own board up. Very sad, as the rest of the stay was not bad.

I received an email about our experience and I gave an honest opinion of what we experienced. Got called and just "sorry, it will not happen with other people again" and put the phone down. Not what is or has been done to fix your short comings. I planned to ask my partner to marry me. I booked us a night at maslow. When we got there, we were told the room does not include breakfast. We explained that the site said all rooms include breakfast. Receiption then ask us to show him your website. We did just that then he told us, because we booked via a travel agent, it will not be included. Where does this state in the t&c? We got to the room and the toilet seat was totally loose. Called receiption and told they are sending someone up. 40 minutes later we enquired again, told they are sending someone. We eventually went down to receiption and asked. We explained the situation to a manager, Jenny. She advised that we go have dinner and when we come back, we will be moved to another room, she will leave a note on the system. We came back after dinner and asked at receiption. He told us here was no note and maintenance was never sent to our room. Someone then came up and fixed the toilet seat. You ruined what was suppose to be a special evening for me and my wife to be. And then with just sorry, good bye. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We only stayed for one night at the Maslow Hotel for a show AIG and boy o boy will we go back anytime. From the arrival to the reception and the rooms, it was just a pleasure with friendly staff attending to us and helping with rooms. The pool on the 1st floor was magnificent with such a beautiful view down to the street and buildings. The pool bar was a delight with some of the best and fresh cocktail we have ever had. Breakfast was also so good with variety of fruit and warm food it was really good and not to be missed if staying there.

Time square dome where all the action of the show was is just 50m walk from the hotel entrance which made it so easy to go watch the show and walk back into the hotel have something to eat and drink and go to bed. No other hotel around offers such convenience for a venue. The second biggest mall in Africa is also just around the corner if you feel like dong some shopping.
