This is my favourite hotel in Pretoria because it feels like you are out in the country side due to the lovely grounds and peaceful ambiance and birds singing.

6 months of lockdown have not been easy for them but the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms spacious and well designed.

Very good value too.

If you want total luxury and perfection then you will need to pay a lot more than you do here. But for what they charge it is a lovely place to stay and lots of shops nearby too.

Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, room spacious and clean with coffee/tea making facilities. Lovely open spaces outside. Breakfast was good. Special shout out to Peter the manager for going the extra mile for his guests.

We were so excited to sleep away from the kids for our first romantic getaway in 9 years.
What a disappointing experience. When we first arrived nothing was prepared. We had to shower without towels. We ordered water which we never received. We asked for a jacuzzi but we got a bath that didn't even work.
I'm not one to complain.... But eish! The next day cleaning team barged into the room while we were still sleeping and breakfast was late.

What you see online is not what you get! They sold us a dream! Shame on them.
The hotel is not maintained at all, long grass (who knows what's lurking around in there) water damage all over ceilings in the hallways and rooms, a cracked bathtub, extremely slippery shower floor, broken shower doors, basin taps that struggle to open, extractor fan in toilet does not work, broken towels given to us to be used (how were you not ashamed to even give that to a paying guest?), house keeping didn't bother to pitch up when we asked for room cleaning, safe did not work, exposed wires at plug points, outdoor furniture was extremely dirty and the list goes on...
They advertised a swimming pool, restaurant, bar, bathrobes in rooms, irons in rooms, security guard etc. and had none of that when we arrived! Not even a security guard at the gate? Basically anyone could walk in the hotel and do as they please.
The receptionist didn't even bother to ask about our stay when we checked out. It's as if they know how crap their hotel is.
100% do not recommend this place!

The initial appearance of the Lombardy Boutique Hotel is quite pleasant, a sort of Tuscan / Spanish Hacienda. But then reception did not know what room to allocate, and then there was the attempt to pay again on a pre-paid reservation—eventually got to the room was quite nice, spacious and clean. No channels on the TV and no wifi, and a tiny desk to work from. Only old three-pin SA plugs, nothing to accommodate our international friends. Ah, let me get a bottle of water from the bar, haha; no chance of getting anything out of that bar. No dinner, but at least Mr D knows the location. No, no coffee in the room, only tea. No breakfast either, not even a coffee and a muffin.
I guess you get what you pay for.

The first room that I was put in could not lock from the inside. When they eventually changed my room number the hotel passage was flooded. Next room I was put in was cold, no water, dirty linen. The whole facility is unkept and just needs to be closed down or sold to someone who is passionate & respects the tourism industry. Everything was a MESS.

This is our second stay at Lombardy in 2015. In Feb 2015 we celebrated Valentines Day at Lombardy. We ended up in room 21 and we noticed that the carpet was soaking wet and the smell of mould was overpowering. We stayed at reduced rates aa I bought a Groupon voucher and assumed that we got a bad room due to paying reduced rates. Now my husband booked again for my birthday and we have the bad luck of ending up in room 21 again. Carpet at least is dry, but mould still evident on wall and the same overpowering smell of mould! This time we paid R2950 and I'm not impressed. Their 5star rating should be removed and I intend reporting them to the grading authority!

This hotel really shouldn't be rated 5 star. I was so looking forward to a 5 star experience. The whole hotel looks shabby and in need of some TLC. They use an external laundry service, however they don't have enough bed linen for changes, so one has to wait all day for clean towels and our bed couldn't be made up until evening when we arrived. Our sheets had holes in them and the towels had definitely seen better days.
The bathroom had mould on the tiles, the phone didn't work, very few channels on the TV. The food in the restaurant wasn't good and certainly not worth what we were charged for dinner.(We only ate there once). The breakfast (which was included in the price of the room) was the same every day; scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and all cold! On our last morning we didn't even bother to go to the restaurant.
I'm sorry to complain because the staff were all so lovely and tried so hard to accommodate us. They're working under difficult conditions and must receive loads of complaints.
The hotel is in a lovely setting with big trees and lawn and I'm sure that it once lived up to its 5 stars. It certainly doesn't now. Why don't the owners spend some money on it?

Booked this hotel on a booking site. Upon arrival we discovered that the photos on the site were actually the photos of the next door spa - advertised as part of the hotel. When we however wanted to use the facilities (pool) at the spa, we were told that a fee would be charged!

The check-in was an absolute nightmare. Small table in the corner - following another, very agitated guest (he had to wait 15 minutes). The check-in exploded in him loosing his temper and taking it out on the poor receptionist who were only trying to make the best of a terrible situation.

The hallway carpets were very dirty. This obviously made one more aware of the general state of the room. Which was not clean. Base of the bed was very dirty. The room was dark and smelled damp. There was very little toilet paper and when we wanted to phone reception, we discovered the phone did not work!

We did not stay for breakfast...

Pity - hotel with great possibility

Definitely not 5 star or boutique!
