My family and I stayed at the Southern Sun Newlands for four nights. The staff was always pleasant and the rooms were clean with a lovely view of Table Mountain. The location of the hotel was convenient since we had a vehicle however it was disappointing to note they did not have a complimentary shuttle to the V&A Waterfront. Shops were within walking distance and it was relatively safe. I would highly recommend this hotel....

We booked 5 rooms at the hotel for 9 nights and I must say that our stay there was very comfortable and pleasant. The location is excellent if you intend visiting all the popular tourist attractions that Cape Town has to offer. Rooms were neat and tidy with comfy beds. We all really enjoyed the lovely breakfast that was provided. The staff were amazing and went the extra mile to ensure that we were well taken care of... especially Rhoda, Marzooq and Pretty...a big thumbs up to you guys! The only disappointment was that there was no swimming pool at the hotel.

Situated in the leafy suburb of newlands . you are able to access the entire cape peninsular in short time .the hotel has the most wonderful staff from managers to cleaners even the security .a great breakfast experience we had every day was a perfect way to start your day, the hotel is kept thouroughly clean spotless inside and outside in a secure and safe enviroment

As a 4 star hotel i would have preferred to have a shower only in my room instead of standing a bath with a shower curtain. I am not sure if the Newlands Sun do have rooms with shower only instead of a bath.
Maybe they can also label the some of the breakfast items as Halaal "friendly" if that is the term they want use. This will give the Muslim guest the peace of mind when having breakfast.

Please could you forward us your full name and surname so that we may update your profile pertaining to your preference regarding a walk in shower - we do have these available. Since we are not certified Halaal we shall not advertise items as "Halaal Friendly" - we do however purchase our meat from a Halaal Certified butcher, bearing in mind that we do serve bacon and pork sausage on our buffet. Going forward if you could mail us prior to your stay we could order in a Halaal meal for you from a certified Halaal supplier, which would be at your own cost. In addition we have various cold meats on the buffet as well as fish that you may consume, however our Chefs would be pleased to assist you on the day with any further clarification if needed. The bedrooms were rather shabby and the carpet sticky. We were very disappointed with the shower/bath situation, it was very small.
The staff were fantastic and helpful and friendly so I will give them a 10/10
The breakfast was delicious with lovely choices and the cappuccino was really good.

With regards to the carpets we have a specialised carpet cleaning company that comes out on a weekly basis to ensure we attend to the carpets not just from a face value but a deep clean level. The amazing team at Southern Sun Newlands made the 4 weeks of business in Cape Town a pleasure.
Always taking the time to give us the personal treatment, we could not have asked for a better home-away-from-home.
The food was delicious and the attention to detail all round was meticulous.
The rooms are well apportioned for the price point and the breakfast is everything you could hope for.
The pool table in the conference area combined with the bar made downtime entertaining and provides a chance to really unwind after a long day without having to go out.
I would thoroughly recommend Southern Sun Newlands to anybody looking for a base of operations for a Cape Town visit.

The hotel is conveniently located close to Newlands cricket stadium and to the University of Cape Town. Good breakfast is provided and the staff are very friendly. However the restaurant food was of extremely poor quality and very badly prepared, more especially their butternut soup and their fish of the day. The quality of the fish was really sub-standard and was definitely not with the amount charged by the establishment.

From the Airport Michael from the hotel picked us up with a warm welcome to Capetown. Upon arrival our kids received nice welcome backpacks which came in handy on our tours around Cape Town. Still upon arrival at the Hotel we received the Warmest Welcome from Hazel and guaranteed us a great experience in the hotel. The rooms were clean and well kept daily and indeed it was a home away from home. Lovely breakfast experience also, staff are so friendly, greeted by Rhoda and the list is endless. We would highly recommend the Hotel to Friends and Family. Great location close to everything. The hotel also offers a lovely recreation area for for kids.

As you walk through the front doors of the hotel you are always greeted by the friendliest of ambassadors of the Southern Sun brand. Throughout every month of the year the word 'consistency' best describes the experience, enthusiasm & energy one always enjoys. The heading says it all: 'A Home Away From Home'. As a guest you are literally greeted by name by all the staff who are always on hand 24/7 to fully serve your accommodation and food needs. Nothing is ever too much to ask - from the hotel management through to all functions within the hotel. This centrally located jewel of Newlands has everything to offer...and more. We are walking distance from the start point for the half marathon, we however have a shuttle that will pick you up from the finish line only. This will run every 30 minutes from UCT back to the hotel.
