We love this little quaint B&B. Martin is a great host! Rooms are comfy and spacious. Welcome sherry is a great touch. Good Value for Money. Good location for parents with students settling in to Varsity.

Number Four Park Lane is not easy to find .... appears only to be on one booking site (Safari Now) and is tucked away down a narrow lane in between Newlands and Rondebosch, but it's worth the effort! Rooms are very comfortable, great shower and a fantastic view of 'the mountain' from the window and shared balcony. As reported widely, the breakfasts are legendary - maybe some choices not involving eggs would be good! - and the location is good for getting into Cape Town and around. However, some of the details let it down - they are minor gripes but could easily be rectified. For a large room, the storage space is strangely arranged (not enough drawers); hand towels were sometimes replaced, sometimes not; similarly shower gel bottles; no remote control for the air-con (involving some acrobatics on the bed!); problems getting the right adaptor to plug (their own) hairdryer in; TV 'mains switch' was turned off in another room so no-one could watch (soon remedied but odd); the promised 'welcome sherry' decanter was almost empty on our arrival and never refilled. We were also (mildly) diappointed that there wasn't a pool (as it says on Safari Now) as this is only available to the self-catering cottages next door. A word of warning regarding finding the B&B - on some websites, NFPL is mapped as being on Roslyn Rd (on the opposite side of Main Rd further into Rondebosch), which caused our taxi driver a lot of trouble! Make sure you tell taxis that it is off Klipper Rd - and possibly warn them that it's difficult to turn at the bottom of Park Lane. We felt safe in the area, possibly because it's adjacent to President Zuma's residence so there was a lot of CCTV on the way to Rondebosch (a 10-min walk to the station). After eating in Newlands at night, it also felt OK to walk back up the Main Rd, as long as it was not too late and you keep next to the road. A great place to stay if going to cricket or rugby at the Newlands Stadia - an easy 15-min walk to the cricket ground, less to the rugby. And the bears are lovely too!

We stayed here for a few nights in December 2015. Martin, the manager was superb. He provided a lovely breakfast each morning. The rooms were lovely. Nice bed linen. Comfy too. Lovely view of Table Mountain. Free use of the landline phone and the wi-fi was great quality. Very handy when trying to organise trips. Can't really fault it!

Centrally situated, wonderful home hospitality. Martin's breakfasts are legendary with our teenage children! Perfect place to stay in Cape Town. All the rooms are very comfortable and it really suits both business visitors and family groups.

We were taken to Number Four by a friend who uses this guest house every time he visits Cape Town. We were given a great welcome by Martin and given a most comfortable room with en suite bathroom and a view over the courtyard. The breakfast was extremely good and cooked to order by Martin. Situated in Newlands Number Four is close to all of the main road hubs in Cape Town making it very easy to move around the city with ease. Number Four is an excellent choice, especially if you are new to Cape Town and have a hire car.
