What a lovely guest house. We were in the room overlooking the courtyard, which was perfect. Jones was always on hand to help, with a smile. The location is great. 1 minute away from the Foresters, which was good news on our first night when, incredibly, it was pouring with rain. Other good restaurants are nearby. I also loved the proximity (3 minutes walk) to Newlands Forest and its many walks.

Stayed at Au Pears with two other couples and absolutely loved it. Wonderful old (well kept) house, beautiful gardens, great help and service , nothing too much trouble. Close to cafe and Forresters Arms Pub and perfectly positioned for getting around Cape Town. Would definitely stay here again!! 5 stars.

Stunning! Jones greeted us with such laughs and enthusiasm, we felt at home immediately. The bedroom was super comfortable with lots of extras. TV with DSTV. Coffee and tea available. Bar fridge to store some basics. The bathroom was large and clean. Even with the water restrictions, we felt comfortable. Smoothies every day served in the kitchen was a real treat. Opposite forresters pub but still quiet. Close to walking trails. Inside parking available but it’s a tight squeeze! Would be back in a second

Dear Colin, Thank you so much for giving us such a wonderful review, we really do appreciate it so much. We still have accommodation available for the Easter Weekend next year, but it should fill up fast once the registration is open for the Two Oceans Marathon. We hope you will return again then or sooner as it was a real pleasure having you to stay at Au Pear. Kind Regards, Pam.

Stayed here for a few nights over New Year and it was everything we wanted it to be and more! Jones is a tremendous host, who is always has a friendly smile on his face and asks about your day without being too intrusive. Pam is a delight and popped by most days to say hi. The little touches really make this place stand out, smoothies every morning, the home baked treats left in our room every day only add to the beautiful house. I will definitely be staying here again next time I am in the city, and can not recommend this place enough!!! Marvellous!

Had a one night stay only while on business trip. Great location with easy access to M3 but quietly located in leafy Newlands. Small and old but very well kept, super clean and all amenities you can think of. Only parking can be difficult when people gather at the nearby pub as the hotel has one parking only and the street may be full then.

Dear Arne, Thank you so much for posting a review about Au Pear, it is always so appreciated. We do have secure parking for 3 cars, I am so sorry that maybe the other two on the other side of the house were not pointed out to you. The pub around the corner is very busy on a Friday evening between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and yes, it can be difficult to find parking on the street at that time, otherwise we don't usually have a problem. I am sorry if you were inconvenienced by this and hope you will return again soon to Au Pear and stay a little longer. Kind Regards, Pam.

The B&B is lovely, parking was a bit of an issue but nothing that could not be sorted out. I stayed one night only on the way to the airport so to say. Before going to breakfast at a nearby restaurant I checked regarding checkout time and was told that it is 11am. When coming back from breakfast at 10am the room was complete stripped (bed, towels, etc) the luggage had been moved around and was buried under the pillows and duvets that had been thrown on top of the unpacked items. The window to our room was wide open which I really was not thrilled about since we were on the ground floor. I have to say, a clearer, "get out, you are not welcome anymore" could not have been given in writing. Of complied as quickly as possible and spend the rest of our time in Cape Town in places we were welcome at.

Spent a wonderful few days there. Loved the walks up Newlands Forest directly from the front door. Communal lounge and dining room is very comfortable with simple kitchen amenities available. Weather was too cool to enjoy the outdoor tables and chairs set in tranquil courtyard.

What a wonderful experience we had! A most charming house set in a magnificent Victorian garden - on a quiet lane in Newlands, with easy access to everything. Fabulous yesteryear touches - luxurious bed linen, spacious bathroom with walk-in shower and deep ball and claw bath and our own patio where we could enjoy a morning coffee and delicious homemade crunchie. Views of the mountain through the Wisteria blooms. The delightful manager Jones is on hand to take care of your every need. A huge thank you to Pam and Jones for a very memorable stay!

I was only here for 1 night, but this is an elegant guest house set in beautiful Newlands. The rooms are adequate size and come with a large bathroom with a (small) tub and very nice shower. There is an upscale communal kitchen available for all guests which would be handy if you wanted to prepare your own meals. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Security seems to be fairly tight, which is reassuring. The property is located in a very narrow side-street with very limited secure parking. Good value for money all in all
