Liz the owner, gives you a warm welcome to her spotlessly clean, well appointed house. Our room with an ensuite shower, was well stocked up on teas & coffee with its own fridge, had a marvelous view to Table Mountain & just around the corner are some lovely restaurants, I can't recommend Mountain View enough. Liz must be doing something right as the other 2 guests staying - one was from Namibia and the other Kenya, so her reputation has travelled far and wide. I can't comment on the breakfast as we both ate out. However, if the rooms are anything to go by, you won't be disapppointed. Bear in mind this is a guest house/B & B - the questions below TripAdvisor is asking realte to a hotel so not really relevant. Finally, would I stay there again on my next visit to KapStad? Most definitely.

I only spent one night at this venue. I appreciated my interaction with Liz, who was very gracious and hospitable. My room was comfortable and warm, although not ensuite. Breakfast costed of cereals, yoghurt and toast with lovely coffee. Liz did offer a cooked breakfast but I declined this. I found the parking a bit of a problem ... having to park on the street for the night over the road from the Newlands pool left me feeling quite nervous. All in all, a positive experience.

Without a doubt I would give Mountain View and Liz a 5 star rating! I couldn't fault my 4 days here at all! As an over seas visitor I was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed every minute of my stay. My surroundings both inside the Guest House and outdoors in her beautiful rose garden with Table Mountain in the back ground was exactly as I'd hoped for for my stay in Cape Town. My room was very comfortable, fresh and clean... I wish all guest houses were as nice as this one. I'm hoping to return to Cape Town in 2 years and definitely be staying here again.

My daughter and I spent 5 nights here. From the moment we walked through the entrance we were enthralled with the lovely scent of the rose garden. Liz was very welcome and our upstairs room opened onto a little terrace with an amazing view of the mountain. The room was large and elegantly furnished and there was a lounge and tv area. En suite shower was spotless. Liz was very helpful and friendly and always had time for a chat and to pass on information of where to go and what to do. Plenty of restaurants, shops etc close by and Newlands is so central for easy access to other parts of Cape Town

I stayed here for business one night and my husband joined me on the second night. Liz is not always at the guest house and seems to expect you to arrange your life around when she is there with regards to picking up the keys. You have to park your car in the street. The rooms are well decorated with some finishing touches like chocolates and magazines, but my room appeared to be the only one with an ensuite bathroom. So it seems a bit overpriced for people to leave their rooms to shower etc. The breakfast costs an extra R100 and you get two fried eggs. No bacon no tomato. No sauce. Two fried eggs. And yogurt toast and cereal. A bit bizarre. Not really kitted geared up for a guest house.

I didn't even get a Chance to stay at this place - - I got an offer and was asked to pay all kinds of extra fees - - when I questioned it, Liz never wrote back. I had to go to Cape Town for an Operation and needed a place in Newlands, and fortunately I found another place to stay. Now that I read about this place, I'm glad I didn't stay there. No en-Suite bathroom for over 800 ZAR a night? Surprised that the place has 4 starts. Liz, it won't be high season forever, and not just foreigners need accommodation when they stay in Newlands. Word will get around, usually all Capetonians are extremely polite, but ignoring several mails after confirming Dates of my stay was inexcusable...

Liz was an amazing host. We were down on a school sports tour and she catered for all our needs. Asking what time we required breakfast and serving it superbly. She recommended local eating spots which wear great. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place that feels like home. Will be back next year for sure.

Stayed here with a colleague for business. Although the rooms were tastefully decorated and clean there were significant problems. My upstairs room was up some very steep stairs. The room is set up so that you cannot watch TV in bed and the building has a corrugated roof so it is very noisy when it rains (which happens often in CPT). My room was the only room that appeared to have an en-suite bathroom. My colleagues bathroom was not en-suite and appeared to be shared with the owners. Further his room was so small he could not walk around the bed. The dining room consisted of one four seater table, so you are required to eat breakfast with other people, which is not suitable when a) you don't want to and b) you need to discuss breakfast. Breakfast was also very limited with little selection and not much effort made in food quality or presentation - one morning I was served tinned mushrooms. There is no secure parking, you are required to park in the street. The house has personal photographs displayed and the owners stay in an adjoining room. Considering how much you are paying a night R800 + it is incredibly expensive and not worth it.
