With both teenage kids still away at the coast, my husband decided to spoil me with a night at Kloofzicht Lodge for New Year's Eve. I remember why this is my absolute favourite 5-star country getaway. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such warmth and hospitality from the staff. Our room was superb with the most amazing view of the dams. We literally sat on our verandah and watched the fish jumping out the dam. I could not have asked for a better start to 2021. It really offers the most incredible views and the rooms are large and luxurious - the bathrooms, with their large bath and choice of inside or outdoor shower, completely decadent. Our dinner was simple but delicious and our breakfast this morning excellent. Thank you to Chris and his staff who made our stay so memorable. If this is how 2021 is starting I feel enormously positive. The additional, unexpected spoils in the room were outstanding from the red roses, to the welcome hamper, to the rose petal hearts on the bed. THANK YOU to all of you. This has been such a hard time for everyone in the hospitality industry. In spite of all the challenges your staff are still smiling and offering an amazing service. I highly recommend this hidden gem in the heart of Muldersdrift to anyone looking for a memorable getaway, conference or just a perfect Sunday Lunch.

The location and seclusion from noise pollution and everything else is a previlage these days. SO i loved the fact that the premises was nestled in between hills and nothing really in sight as the hills are as nature intended then to be, untouched.
The hotel food is exquisite really and feels like a 7 star presentation and creativity in the plates served on the table. And as i was veg that week, i really enjoyed what was served to me. Check the pics.
The room was truly amazing and confortable and the bathroom a real spa feeling to it. (there are two joined showers in the bathroom. The conference halls were very well spread and designed which made it easy access to any part of the hotel, especially the loos.
There is a bueatiful manmade double lakes, an infinity pool should the weather allow. One can get fly fishing reels from the reception and go fishing, although it is solely on catch and release basis, and boy big fish where in there.
There is a lovely hiking trail as well and it took me a good 1 hour and 3km in the hills and valley along the lake and up the hills where worthogs and kudus are plenty. So are the number or birds that you will meet along the way. It is very safe all rounder.
It is a pitty did not stay there more than 3 days but certainly there is much more to enjoy encluding the open braai space and nearby air balloon excursions one can take.

Large spacious rooms, with the most luxurious bathrooms imaginable. A bath and an inner shower, which opens to a private open-air shower, perfect for a refreshing post-swim rinse. It also has a comfortable patio with a gorgeous view. You stay surrounded by nature, with the comforts of the highest quality friendly service. There are plenty of outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking and fishing. If you feel like a pamper they also have an exquisite spa with all the creature comforts you can imagine.
Conveniently located near Lanseria airport, a place of beauty and comfort, that will leave you wishing you could stay longer.

This establishment is at best worth 3 stars, not 5. My wife end stayed on the 15th/16th. On arrival we wanted to make coffee an te but there was insufficient supplies. Reception was contacted who sent a staff member with the wrong supplies. I showed her what we needed and she left without returning.

The bathroom sliding door could only close halfway and I had to turn the bed turning service away as the bathroom was occupied. Fortunately there were 2 showers as one of the showers only had steaming hot water.

The pool pump was close to the room and running 24/7. Not much ambience if you battle to hear birdsong above constant machine noise.

The dining room waiter was friendly, inobtrusive and professional but it was too little too late.

It was a last minute booking when everyone else was fully booked. Now I know why.

What a let down ! what you see is not what you get. Surrounded by beautiful grounds and lakes the setting is perfect but unfortunately that's where it stops.
The rooms food service were certainly not up to 5 Star Standard. We have recently stayed at Moorcroft Manor in the Southern Drakensberg which has a 4 Star Rating
absolutely no comparison rooms food service friendly happy staff within a beautiful
peaceful mountain setting this is 5 Star. Our first night we had to move the mattress in order
to level the bed legs ! three coat hangers ! Breakfast we stood in a que every morning for approx 20 minutes canteen style ! . Dinner no Salt & Pepper on the table when we asked the unfriendly waiter he promptly took a set from another table these were unfortunately empty so we called him again. Soup arrived with no crusty bread or butter so once again called the waiter just shocking for 5 Star. Finally we decided to relax around the swimming pool and order some drinks after all this is a 5 Star Lodge well this never happened the pictures below will tell you why ? Not even close to 4 Star judging on the quality\service\food we experienced at Moorcroft Manor in Himeville

We are currently staying at Kloofzight for a few nights, and had Christmas lunch here today.

More now, during COVID, than ever, they deserve a special mention for being top notch in every way. One could forgive small errors in 2020, and be sympathetic to the plight of the tourism industry. But there is nothing to fault. Friendly, helpful, engaging staff... Right from arrival.
Impeccable food (truly sublime)... And spacious, beautiful rooms with fantastic views. This is a very peaceful, relaxing place.

They have also given a great deal of care to COVID safety protocols. Far more than an obligatory nod. Tables at distance from each other, sanitiser everywhere you look, and just a general sense of awareness and concern.

We have stayed here once before, in 2014, and eaten here several times. I’d say Kloofzight is even better than then.

5 star, affordable and close to home for Gautengers.

The room has 20 light bulbs, 9 were not working, carpets are filthy, fridge didn't work and the safe could not be opened. Quality and selection of dinner is mediocre and grossly over priced. Wine selection consists of 3 bottles of red and 3 white. Confirmation of reservation and payment was only received after a number of calls and an eventual response from Guvon head office. The only thing good about this place is its location, poorly managed and over priced.

This past weekend we had a wonderful stay at Kloozicht, our room's view was spectacular the mountain that you can see and it felt like we were miles away from the city. The room was very spacious and tranquil. We even saw some baboons through our window.
We had a dedication 5-course breakfast, the staff was very friendly and very helpful. I would recommend anyone to spend a weekend at Kloozicht.

The manager Chris Oosthuizen was attentive to all our needs.

Whiles visiting friends, I had the pleasure to stay in one of the well appointed rooms on the grounds. The room, literally on the water, was very spacious, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom huge, not to mention the outdoor shower.

Staff were friendly, helpful and genuine.

With only an hour drive from Pretoria, it’s a great place to get away with our it being to far.

During my stay I noticed 2 weddings taking place and also a baby shower, thus it seems to be quite a good location for events such as these.

While the venue in a stunning location, it is in no way a 5 star resort.

The rooms are that of a 3 star resort - if you lucky. The shower heads are gangy and old. There was not even water in the rooms. Not one bottle.

The service or complete lack thereof from management was also shocking!

They screwed up everything for my cousins wedding. So please never book this place for your wedding.

When I called to order some bubbles to the bridal suite, I was called an umlungu on the phone and people were very rude to me.

The bride specifically requested that a cooler box be prepared and put around the fire at the boma at 10:30pm. At 12pm they said we couldn’t order anymore alcohol, the cooler box had NOT been prepared and there was no fire at the boma. In fact there was no wood on the entire property.

Such a simple request could not even be done, besides the wedding plan being provided to the venue and management weeks before.

The wait staff who served were amazing, and I felt so sorry for them as they bore the brunt of the very angry guests. They didn’t have enough staff to serve drinks and the team that did work were absolutely run off their feat.

The night management staff were polite but completely ill equipped to deal with customer complaints.

I am devastated that my poor cousin had to experience this on her wedding day.

Not only on her wedding but the communications and complete on inflexibility for very simple requests was also shocking.

This place is an abomination! They should be ashamed of how they ran this wedding weekend. I know I would be.

I hope no bride ever books the venue again and in fact I hope no one ever stays there again - well at least until management has been changed.

Sorry, only saw this now. I think there are hiking trails. You can paddle a boat on the lake. We mostly went for the spa and doing absolutely nothing for a few days.
