Our overall stay was wonderful. The staff was so friendly and very helpful, the room was nice and big and so beautiful...Loved the bath. 2 suggestions, 1 - make sure all soaps and things are in the room before we arrive, 2 - Maybe put some block out blinds in front of the doors. The porch lights from outside is very bright and light up the room too much. Someone that is light sensitive (like me) will have difficulty to sleep. I feel it was slightly over priced compared to the other places in the vicinity but we still enjoyed the stay.
We stayed one night as we had a wedding at a venue close by and although we just needed a place to sleep and a decent breakfast we were mistaken. The room was large comfortable and clean but there was no hot water in both the rooms we used. The breakfast was disgusting old eggs and bacon swimming in fat. Staff not interested in assisting with the simple request for cutlery. Toast was toasted hours before and the eggs were like rubber. I spend about 200 nights in hotels a year and I suspect there is a lack of management on duty and staff are not properly trained. Thank goodness it was just for one night.
We got a brilliant deal on a winter wedding and the day went off without any major glitches. Our co-coordinator was very involved, the staff there set up everything; from the candles in the chapel to the table setting, exactly the way we wanted. Thank you Moon and Sixpence!
I have always loved moon and sixpence, the setting is beautiful with massive gardens. We stayed the weekend and although the rooms are exceptionally spacious there are a couple of things that they could do to make it a little more energy efficient and a little more modern. The shower head can be changed to a bigger more efficient shower head and they can provide WiFi in the rooms. The breakfast is good and worth the money. Other than that a little more advertising to get the cyclists to pop in would be good considering so many are out and about in the area. The staff are phenomenal and I have to say thank you for making the weekend very special.
Stayed here midweek for one night. Thanks may be part of the problem for something that is I believe very wedding focussed. The room was very spacious and well kept. Large and comfortable. No problems there. The service was not great. Coffee machine did not work and a few petty things. Otherwise it was ok. I think it was just a midweek experience at a place that is really good over weekends.
When my wife decided to organize Christmas lunch, she spotted this restaurant which reminded her of an incredible wedding at this venue 13 years ago &, with the promise of a great menu, we booked.... WHAT A DISASTER!!! It would appear that getting the largest revenue for the owners was the driving force & certainly NOT for the customers’ enjoyment !! Firstly the tables were so packed together that it was difficult for the waiting staff to deliver to the tables - crammed in to get the most revenue. Lunch was at 12:30 & when I tried to order champagne as we arrived I was told that they “had only been 6 bottles in stock” so why on earth offer this on the specialized menu - 6 bottles for several hundred people - seriously?? The waiting staff had far too many large tables to attend to so it wasn’t their fault that the service was slow - but it certainly was Management‘s responsibly to ensure there were enough trained staff & not just numbers - the poor staff were running in circles & many appeared as if they had just been “bussed in for the day”!!! Starters were ok & to be honest only 2 of the items had taste. Next came main course....... and wish it hadn’t!! The meat - ALL of it - was tough & dried out!! The salmon was nice but the gammon was like leather & I really struggled to even CUT the chops - which also had small shards of bone as if they had been chopped with an axe - I know it wasn’t but that’s what everyone described it as!! Mostly inedible!! Desert wasn’t too bad actually. When you have a set menu for a confirmed number of people, how can you POSSIBLY run out of food - which I heard happened with some of your clients!! Then came the disaster of trying to pay for drinks. A queue of 6 angry & disappointed customers (including me) trying to get the credit card machine at the bar to work - which it didn’t!!!! Everyone spoke of their huge disappointment & vowed never to return!! One client, who had very fond memories of the venue when they got Married there 20 years ago, vowed never to return & with their home alarm system alerting them to a break-in, were angry the credit card system was faulty. Eventually they tried a 2nd machine - still same issues. Eventually I paid cash. And where was Management when we asked for them????...... nowhere to be seen!!! So on the whole experience I give a -1 .... yes a negative figure as that is the highest number I could give for this debacle!! and think McDonalds would have been a better experience!! The food was disgusting, the service terrible, the owners appearing to try to make a killing out of the one day with crammed tables, obviously no-one had checked or planned the champagne side, and the Management running the show were nowhere to be seen & didn’t arrive when several of us asked to see them to complain. A terrible experience which I hope no-one else ever experiences - thus this terrible review. Owners - I truly hope that the revenue from the R465 per head x the large number of people there was worth it as I doubt anyone else there will be returning.... Trust me - WE WON’T!!!!!…
There is only one word to describe the food we had today SUPERB What a pleasure to be able to have such good food in an amazing environment. The portions were perfectly matched and tasty. The different accompanying sauces were so complimentary to each dish
The wedding was on Sunday the 7 Oct 2018. The chapel was awesome the parking was superb. The reception hall was fantastic. Unfortunately there were a few mishaps. The wedding cake was cut and handed out with no forks, thus myself and many others ate our cake with our fingers. The appetizer the taste of the biltong tart was superb, but the pastry was raw. The main course had soggy roast potatoes and beef that was as tough as a piece of leather. This put a damper on the whole event We sat at table 7 and asked our waitress for 2 Johnny Walker red, she stated we dont have any, so we walked to the bar and there on the shelf was a bottle of Johnny walker red. What could have been a fantastic event turned out way below average
We attended a wedding and stayed over the night. It is very spacious and clean. Coffee and tea is provided in the rooms. Quite a lot of stairs to climb and depending on the room quite a walk with the luggage. The gardens are very beautiful. I would say a great venue for weddings. Check in was easy and we were shown our room. Parking is not at the rooms. There is a grass parking area or you can park close to reception which we did.
