We stayed at En Gedi over night because we have a little one and did not want to drive back home after a wedding we were attending in the area. I asked for an early check in for 13:00 a week before the date of arrival in order to freshen up with our toddler before the wedding and was told no it’s strictly 14:00, no explanation or consideration from the reservations desk. We came to freshen up at 16:00 after the ceremony and there was absolutely no staff on the property besides the security guard who let us in. He gave us the room key and obviously was not able to explain the room or any amenities in room or on the property. The front desk agent was standing at the security office and she rudely said the front desk is closed as she was waiting for her transport to fetch her for home. Upon entering the room we had immediate smell of damp mouldy, no ventilation. There is no door that closes the bathroom area to the room. An old wobbly cupboard that holds the coffee station, shower drenched in mould, 1 ply toilet paper, window tint peeling in the bathroom area for outside to see in and the toilet was leaking water out of the back. We couldn’t contact anyone on the property because all staff or front desk had left at 16:00. We were basically abandoned and felt unsafe on the property. We emailed them asking if there would be breakfast served in the morning - with no response, as we previously were told if more than 10 guests had checked in, breakfast would be served. I was uneasy sleeping over that night with the mouldy air for my toddler so we left the fan on all night. As I was putting my toddler to bed I found an old sock from a previous guest behind the toddlers single bed and the pillowcases had stains on I’m assuming from a nosebleed. Highly disappointed in this property as well as the service. When we checked out at 08:00 the next morning, the front desk agent hadn’t even asked how our stay was, she just took the key and told me that the security guard is gone to buy himself breakfast somewhere, I should call her cell and tell her when I’m at the big gate so she could open it. I couldn’t get any names as they don’t wear name badges I will never return to this property or refer anyone to use their services.…
We booked for 12pm. First our seating was incorrect and we were shuffled to another area but that was ok, it was Christmas Day. Our waitress was clearly inexperienced, making lots of little mistakes but that was ok too. It was Christmas Day, we’re all human. But then when you get yelled at and rushed to get your mains without any explanation as to why there is such a rush and you’re left to assume you have to get out of there. That is not okay. How dare you think it’s ok to treat paying customers like that? What makes you think it’s ok to yell at me? You made me feel like I’m a child. I’m a grown ass woman. What a disappointment and 2 days later I’m still pissed off. People, please don’t waste your time, money and energy going. Do yourselves a favour and give it a miss. The only thing they got going for them is the venue. Beautiful ponds and gardens but really what a shame! 2/10…
We had the memorial celebration for my husband on Tuesday 10th March at EnGedi. The staff were amasing, so much empathy and compassion! Their service, food, catering, setup etc. was excellent! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this day more bearable! I recommend EnGedi with the utmost confidence - not just for weddings, stay-overs etc, but also for funerals and memorial services. Once again, THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF OF ENGEDI!
EnGedi Guest House was a lovewly place to stay for the night. The room was spotlessly clean and grounds immaculate. The pool however needed a lot of attanetion. We did swim after I had skimmed to pool of all the leaves. Breakfast was very good.
I was only there for 1 evening ... it was a lovely room. The front desk assistant was very pleasant and helpful. They even organized an early check in as I needed to be somewhere else for a lunch. Thank you.
For a 4 star hotel there is lacking a lot. Our shower had a door missing and the shelve at the mirror is falling down. The breakfast was extremely disappointing. One kind of fruit juice, no fresh fruit with the yoghurt and muesli. Only 2 cereals to choose from. No toast, only scrambled eggs, boerewors, tomato with melted cheese, potato cubes and bacon. We will definitely don't go there again.
Lovely wedding venue with great support from the staff in organising my daughters wedding Excellent comfortable room and food is out of this world and of the best lovely breakfast served in the morning Keep it up
Corporate function with stay over, Arrived and sent to wrong venue, Came to reception to book in first. No one on duty. Told to go to gate to get keys. This after off loading luggage into reception. Loaded luggage again. Back to guard house. Got keys. Went back to room. Offloaded luggage again. Room 6 right at reception. Then back to function. Guard was unhelpful, had attitude, never before collected room keys at guard house ? All this done in pouring rain !! No help at all. Late for function. an overall bad experience.
I stayed there for week and noted the following problems: 1)Reception is only open till 16:00. If you experience any problems after that time no one is there to assist you. 2)The door locks of my room was no useless. It is clear that it has not been serviced for the past couple of years. Any abled body person could easily force it open. 3)I encountered numerous insects in my room. 4)There is a wooden "stoep" near the swimming pool. I almost broke my ankle due to the planks being very brittle. 5)My room was poorly ventilated. There are no aircons in any of the rooms. The room that I stayed in had only one small window which could be opened. After my first night at Engedi I brought all the matters listed above to the attention of management. They did not correct anything during the course of the week. …
We spent the night at Engedi after my daughters wedding. The room was very comfortable, near, and tidy however we were woken early the next morning with the noise of lawnmowers and weed cutters. The breakfast area was also a "highway" for all the staff passing through and the area seemed to be an after thought. In summary i do not believe we got value for money.
