Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed our accommodation and walks on the farm thoroughly. We stayed in interleading rooms, which was perfect for us and two toddlers and 3-month old.
We appreciated the warm water bottles, rubber bath mats, heaters, large bath and extra cot for the kids. The kitchenette in the unit made snack time a breeze. The fresh milk, cream and rusks were a great treat.
The kids enjoyed watching the cows being milked and ‘talking’ to the turkeys on our walks.
Despite only take-aways being allowed during lockdown, the menu was very well thought-out and food very good. Our meals were delivered to our room and we could just heat dinner when we were ready to eat.
A lovely stay!

I am having renovations done at home so looked for somewhere close by to stay. This little haven in the countryside is just perfect.
Well appointed, comfy and private and so convenient to both Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The cottages are self catering but with the excellent tea garden offering wonderful, reasonably priced meals, there’s really no need to cater for yourself unless you really want to.
The cottages offer really good value and are wonderful for a weekend getaway or a longer stay if necessary

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the place is neat, clean and simply peaceful. I enjoyed the sound of birds in the early hours of the morning, the dining area served fresh meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is unfortunate that the dinner menu is very limited, not catering for 'meat' lovers. Overall, it was wonderful.

I wanted a week away from home, where it was peaceful and quiet, and that is what I got. This was my second stay here, but not my last. The staff are friendly and helpful, the facilities are clean and well maintained, the garden is lovely. I mostly cooked for myself, but the meals I had at the coffee shop was delicious and their home-made iced tea is a real treat.
My only moment of meh was the one time I attempted a shower and the water went cold just as my face was full of soap. I assume the water pressure was not enough to keep the gas heater going. I didn't try that again :-) Maybe a low-flow shower head would help?

Random Harvest boasts a tranquil tea garden, beautifully landscaped gardens, well appointed cottages, in conjunction with their indigenous nursery and farmland. We enjoyed an early morning birdwalk with Lance Robinson who was an excellent guide. After a delicous breakfast we explored the rest of the property on our own, delighting in the beautiful pastoral views and peaceful surroundings. We stayed overnight in Sagewood cottage and although the couch was hard to sit on, we slept soundly in the very comfortable large bed. Overall Random Harvest is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a bit of country living.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this delightful place. Beautiful grounds with a lovely tea garden and shop, and great too to be able to go for walks amongst thousands of Indigenous plants. The staff are also very obliging and professional. The cottage I stayed in was very pleasant with a really pretty garden, and the generous touches of fresh cream and milk in the fridge from their dairy herd. Will definitely be returning!

We had a great experience recently at this nursery/working farm, in their cozy cottages. Comfortable and clean with a super breakfast to boot. Fresh dairy farm produce served at the outdoors nursery set-up.

A well needed getaway for my partner and myself, staff were amazing, food was delicious. We arrived late afternoon feeling famished, kitchen was closed but management made a plan with the chef who happily prepared a meal for us and delivered it himself to our cottage...The gardens are beautiful, you can walk for miles through the nursery, a real farm feeling....will definitely be visiting again....Thank you

Wonderful secluded spot if you are planning on visiting Cradle of Humankind. Nestled in a nursery makes the grounds beautiful. It was a very crisp morning but the fireplace in the breakfast area made breakfast very comfortable. Food was well prepared.

Absolutely loved our 6 night stay. We had adjoining cottages as we had my 89 year old mother with us. Our stay was blissfully peaceful and the setting so serene. We had breakfast daily at the tea garden where food was delicious, service efficient and staff very friendly and helpful. Bird life as prolific. Delighted we found this gem of a place and will certainly return on our next trip.
