Detailed Reviews
We've loved to stay at Riverstone Lodge. The location is perfect when visiting the Cradle of Humankind. Just in front of the gate you'll find a bikingtrail that takes you through the area. Not far from the caves and Cradle safaritour that brings you back in the history of the Cradle, very interesting! We'd had some relaxing time at the pool.
The lodge has spacey rooms and a marvellous bath that was very welcoming after a day in the Cradle.
The food in the restaurant is delicious and our breakfast we enjoyed on the outside deck while watching the birds.
Friendly staff, gave us a warm welcome. We'll be back next time for sure! Thank you Riverstone Lodge!
As a travelagent I definitely would recommend my clients to book here.

We visited the restaurant with friends. The food is nicely presented, portions are big, and it's really delicious. But the waiter service was a bit of a comedy of errors. Of the 7 dishes ordered, 3 were completely wrong, as in, not what we ordered. The bill was also wrong and had to be revised twice. While the chef and manager tried their best to remedy the situation, there was definitely a lack of concentration from our waiter. 3 stars because the food was amazing but some training might be required for waiter staff. We will be back because the food was great, and hopefully next time ether service will be a bit more professional.

Was glad I booked here when other places in the area were recommended by friends and were a bit cheaper but was pleasantly surprised and glad I booked here. From arrival to booking out, was always met with smiles and overall efficient service. Will recommend Riverstone Lodge to anyone.

To be fair, the lodge has good amenities available but requires maintenance and upgrade. Their food was good and management really tried to accommodate our needs where they could. The areas of improvement are: Their staff were rude, rooms and specifically the toilets were unclean, poor security - it is vulnerable for anyone to walk up tour rooms, not child friendly - kids have limited safe play areas or entertainment, a snake was also found on the property which was very worrying.
We left early the next morning without eating our booked breakfast. I would not go back.

Arranged trip as a surprise for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Requested for the room to be made a little more special, even if it comes at an additional cost. Also asked for a picnic basket to be ready upon our arrival. Nothing was done to the room. No picnic basket was prepared. Nothing offered to make up for the disappointment. Hamburger patty for lunch was completely raw on the inside. It was just a total disaster. No idea how they got such good ratings before? The staff seemed inexperienced.

Firstly the room I booked for the day stay was not ready until 11:45 so until then we had to stay in a downgraded room and at the end of it I still paid for a full day on the initial room booked which was unfair. Then the waiting for our food was a bit long even though the restaurant was not busy.
We had spa treatments booked, and honestly it was not worth it. The rooms don't have that "spa" feeling to it and the treatments were not up to standard. I would not go again.

What a beautiful experience and the place was so inviting and warm welcome by the team onsite
My wife was touched by the beauty and the setup of the room. Spacious room with a nice view to garden area. Definitely coming back with my family for a weekend away.

Refreshing and inspiring with a hint of romantic interlude as the open bath was a hit to our sense of adventure and love. The setting and the swimming pool was also a hit with our feel for uniqueness. The signage at the front gate is also well presented as this was our initial response to seek accommodation for our 37th wedding anniversary. A suggestion would be to provide some sort of welcome to couples celebrating this milestone in their lives.

Ideal location to visit the Cradle. Out of town but still accessible. Serene. Excellent customer care. Although I stayed for one night only I got the semse staff and management would go out there way to ensure I had all I needed. I was asked a couple times! Breakfast was lovely after a 15km run in the Cradle cycling/running trail which is just 5mins drive away.

+1
Spacious and well appointed executive suite. The Service and Food is excellent. An all round enjoyable experience.
There is however one major turn down / consideration for those that are considering this lodge. It is located right next to the N14 highway. Road noise is unfortunately constant and excessive. It spoils the experience a bit.
