I am currently in 318 ,I must say that was disappointed to find out my heartist card rate not included for F&B.

You must educate all staff about All membership and their benefits.

All staff are good but they need to be more into emotional intelligence, so that guest can feel welcome, acknowledge and appreciated.

A very solid three-star hotel with some 4-star touches; would highly recommend for cheap short stays. I had a compact but well-appointed room with a good shower and a decent bed. I loved that there was a soft polyester duvet with a clean cover rather than the icky blanket and sheet combo that hotels at this price range tend to favour. There’s an elevator so stairs are unnecessary, although probably quicker. The staff were friendly and efficient and there’s enough parking to go around. There’s not much in the immediate neighbourhood so would definitely not recommend being stuck here without a car. There’s a Chinese and a burger restaurant in the strip mall next door that close early and a comprehensive in-room delivery menu. A free computer and printer is available in the lounge.

Very nice business hotel, staff very nice and helpful, rooms well appointed, clean and beds very comfy and quiet....its all i ask for!

Stayed here a couple of nights, had dinner outside in the restaurants which were also nice - the bills were passed back to the hotel. Breakfast was good value too.

There is a also a big shopping mall within walking distance.

The staff are so courteous and hardworking. It is easy to find, smack on the Old Pretoria Road in Midrand. Please extend my gratitude to the Manager, the reception staff and the Food & Bev/Restaurant staff, especially Sylvia

Travellers be careful. I recently dropped a colleague at the hotel after a meeting and was immediately impressed with what I saw. So with my next visit to Johannesburg (Midrand) I promptly requested to be booked into the Mercure through my travel agent. However, they have a pre-payment policy in place and my travel agent neglected to inform me about it or to arrange for the required deposit. Fine this was an error on the side of the travel agent. What was disconcerting was that the staff at the hotel was not prepared to consider any alternatives and basically forced me in so many words to sleep in my car. This despite the fact that my company is a multi-national employing more that 20 000 staff - the payment would've been good. Fortunately I managed to change my flight and could head home. It is poor customer service in the EXTREME from this institution. Please be aware as I'm sure the treatment I received will spill over into many other areas of their service. Stay clear!!!

We had chosen the hotel because of its location being close to the Gallagar Estate. Upon arrival we were told that all non smoking rooms were taking and we had to stay in the Paraplegic room.
When we brushed our teeth in the morning we had brown water coming out of the tap. We were advised that a geyser had burst.. While having a shower we literally flooded the bathroom.
Management did give us a new room which was better and renovated - the Para room needs a facelift as it has dirty carpets.
The mini bar was empty...
upon Check out our invoice was not made out the way we had requested at the time of booking as well as upon arrival. The new invoice took forever
We did not have breakfast as we felt R140 per person was a bit steep
At time of booking we were advised that free WIFI would be available - guess what: technical problem so no WIFI :-(
Cleaning staff was very noisy in the morning too so forget a cosy morning with sleep in...

Was working in Midrand and a good broadband WiFi was essential. Before booking in I checked with the reception staff that they had working broadband. Later I tried to connect with my Apple Mac Air laptop. It would not get through the "Front Page". I wasted an hour on the phone to the internet provider and then a further 40 mins the following day - all to no avail - no internet connection. The hotel only serves breakfast - no lunch/dinner & no bar. Irish Pub next door had to do but was very poor quality. Room was small and decore run down/tatty. Staff very friendly but unable to help me as a customer and were unable or not willing to help me find an alternative hotel. In the end I found somewhere better but on checking out at 4.30pm was charged for 2 nights instead of one. I have just queried this with the Hotel Manager - who has refused to offer a refund despite the hotel not being fit for purpose! Avoid it - try the Premier or Protea.

Our room was broken into and our valuables stolen. The hotel management did not show any concern until we confronted them from information regarding the theft a few days later. This I not palace I would recommend if safety of self and goods is of priority.

I have stayed a total of 5 nights recently in this hotel, in three different stays (2+1+2) in three different rooms, and I have really felt at home here. The staff is just GREAT, the hotel is stylishly appointed and well-kept, and the rooms had everything I needed. In a country where you don't go for evening walks, having a good television with a good selection of channels is quite important, and here the rooms have 32 inch flat screens with BBC news, a couple of sports channels and some entertainment channels. The breakfast is very good, but 120 ZAR (about 12 EUR) is perhaps a bit too expensive. No other meals, but the Value Faire, a small mall next-door, has Indian and Chinese restaurants, an Irish pub and a Steers outlet. Steers is the South African alternative to McDonalds, which they will probably beat 999 to 1 in a blind test. A fairly large shopping mall - Borders - is a 10 minute walk away, with a Shoprite supermarket a bit nearer than that. The rooms have fridges and coffee makers. Their WiFi is good, but unfortunately not free. The cheapest option is 30 min for 40 ZAR, enough if you are just checking your e-mail and updating your Facebook status.

If you are taking the Gautrain from the airport on arrival without too much luggage you can walk to the hotel in 15-20 min. Walk along the road under the Gautrain tracks until you have a McDonalds on your right. Turn right there and go one block down, and turn left. You are then on Old Pretoria Main Road, and after 3 traffic lights (called robots in SA) you will see the purple/pink Mercure sign on the left side of the road. The map on their internet site is useless, and the one they send you if you e-mail them, is only helpful for people arriving by car. An alternative is taking a Gautrain feeder bus to the stop called Gallagher Estate (a large conference center) and walk through the center and then through the Value Faire. Then the walk is about 10 minutes and probably a bit safer. If that also sounds too complicated, they will apparently send a car to pick you up for 80 ZAR.

I am Accor frenquent guest member. I issued myself a voucher via your website in order to use as payment and as a result did not reserve the booking via my credit card.

My secretary therefore booked 2 nites - one with the hotel directly (without reserving with my credit card) while the other I paid with my credit card on the website. The hotel refused to honour my frequent guest rate of R575 for the unpaid nite (and further converted $60 voucher at a rate of 7.02 although the current rate for the day of 7.93, which is daylight robbery ) and instead charged me R790 for the unpaid night.
Further, when I got to my hotel room in the evening of the 2nd night, all my belonngings had been removed - clothes and meals left in the fridge (they erreaneously for got that i was booked for 2 nights).
Therefore accor seems to run an unethical frequent rewards scheme - were their frequent guest get charged the non-frequent guest rate (which is further aggravated by a poor currency conversion rate) - to negate any frequenst guest monetary reward that the membership promises. Un-believable and unethical customer service!!!!
