When the budget facility City Lodge is full and you don’t want to shell out good money for the expensive InterContinental or Southern Sun then you can peel over to the Garden Court not far from OR Tambo International Airport. It is a dated facility that offers basic facilities for doing business and needs to be near the airport. The operators have tried to keep current by retrofitting modern facilities where possible such as fire detectors and artworks. But the tiny design from which you cannot escape a feeling of congestion is from a bygone era of hotel design. If you have a lot to do outside and need to be near the airport then this is the hotel for you. I used it because one near the airport was full. The best thing about this hotel was the free shuttle and proximity to the airport. Rooms are in need of an update. Had to navigate suitcases along long corridors with decorating signs and the smell of fresh paint. The Irish pub on site was ok for an evening meal and the breakfast was also ok so an average review overall.

Couldn't do enough for us and even suggested a tour to save us going into Johannesburg by ourselves! All the staff were fantastic and couldn't fault any of them as they are all fantastic! Food is plentiful as well, bit out of the way but wouldn't change any of it!@

Very close to the airport so great place to stay after a long international flight. This hotel is however located in an industrial area and there are few dining options beyond the hotels restaurants...which are exceptional. Clean and comfortable rooms. Quiet and dark. Air conditioner works well. Staff very responsive to requests. Exceptional shuttle service from airport.

The rooms are tired. In great need of refurbishing. I stayed on 2 different occasion and had to call on maintenance for a leaking toilet and a defect safe on the first one and had to change room for non functionning a/c on the 2nd one. Everything in the rooms call for something better. On a brighter note the staff was wonderful and helpfull. Quick to call in maintenance or address issues.

We used this hotel due to our flight being delayed....after lunch my children was at the sit out area and my daughter's phone disappeared. Only to find the next morning that a locator on my daughter's phone was locating us to the staff area where all guest was restricted from. After making a report i had to beg for answers and always had attitude or just hold me off as due to our flight being delayed we could've left the hotel early the next morning. Knowing it was a staff member who had took the phone and not honestly returned it they would have made an investigation to find out. Who can you trust if the staff is taking things from guest. Not fair to any guest. I handed my details to the manager n I haven't yet received an email or nothing as to the return or refund for the phone. …

A typical airport hotel but a complimentary shuttle made it great. The staff were efficient and friendly. It was clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The Irish pub next door had lovely food though no Guinness on draught.

Positive - Close to the airport and frequent free shuttle rides from airport. Clean, huge breakfast selection with a lot of variety to choose from and omelet station. Room was big and comfortable. They had a dinner buffet that you had to pay for and the bar area had a lot of good food to choose from. I liked that they gave a couple of small cookies in the room which was a nice touch. The grounds and pool area was also huge, you can just sit there and relax with the large trees and greenery. Negative- The room carpets needs to be changed as it looked very old and worn out and I don’t think any amount of vacuuming would help clean it. I left the window open for the day while I was out and came back to find a whole lot of files in the room which really grossed me out. I just could not get them out so just don’t open the windows which is really unfortunate as it is nice to get some fresh air in. The files did not bother me though they just stayed on the walls all night but I did not like them being there. Bring a insecticide spray so you can spray and kill the flies The mall area and the touristy places are a bit of a drive away specially if you are coming back to the hotel in the evening you will get stuck in traffic and spend like an hour getting from the downtown area to the hotel All in all I would stay there if I just needed a place to sleep as the price was good and so close to the airport …

This hotel was in need of an update. It felt dirty and the pool was out of action due to a refurb taking place. All you can eat restaurant was good value but tables were not cleaned quickly enough. Staff were friendly.
