The management cheated me by overcharging me R400 on arrival at the guesthouse on Tuesday(7-9-2016) although i payed them the full amount from my credit card in Mumbai. Later when i arrived in India on Monday(26-9-2016) to my horror saw that they billed me another Rs 7909 through the same credit card on which i payed them earlier. Its akin to encasing the same check twice.I have complained to my bank about the fraud and the same is under investigation and inquiry. How could a reputed website"ww.bokking.com"e have such a dubious crook guesthouse as its client ? Otherwise the Guesthouse was excellent and has the security arrangements fit for a "V.I.P" or "Billionaire" ! Situated in a notorious locality of Johannesburg where venturing alone out of the fortress guesthouse is dangerous.

If you are on a budget and looking for a room to stay, this is the place to go to. The staff is friendly and they also serve breakfast. Ideal for young people on a tight budget who are looking to travel without breaking their wallet.

I really had nice time during my holiday stay, the rooms were absolutely up to standard accompanied by friendly staff. The guesthouse is in a bad neighborhood. Each time when we wanted to go out ,the hotel shuttle bus was available for us .We promise to visit the place again on our next trip.

The short story is: This place is awful, and you should not use it. Find somewhere else, anywhere else. We did. The longer story, in case you need more detail is this: We booked a night in this place through the usually-reputable Hotwire. When eventually we found it (not easy) we staggered in and were immediately told that we had booked a single room, and needed to upgrade to a double. More money, please. Our reservation clearly said we'd booked a double, so we insisted on seeing both rooms - the one we'd booked, and the one we were meant to upgrade to. They were, to all intents and purposes, absolutely identical. There was a double bed in each. Each was grubby, dark, and rather reminiscent of the setting of a horror movie. Back we went to reception where we told the staff the original room would be fine. They then told us we needed to pay an extra ZAR50. We refused. I went to get the luggage from our car. While I was gone, one of the receptionist told my wife that the room now, in fact, cost an extra ZAR75 and we could not have the room till we paid. The luggage went back to the car and we went back out of the gates. It's a fairly horrifying experience, driving around Jo'burg city centre at midnight with no hotel and nowhere to go. (There just aren't any alternatives!) But it's better than staying in the G&G Guesthouse. Please avoid this place for the sake of your sanity and wallet.
