To start, the staff at Curiocity are hospitable and caring. The hostel has an inviting common area with a lively bar that's great for socializing. Kitchen facilities are terrific while the on-site restaurant serves very tasty meals. Comfortable dorms too, with plenty of space.
I booked at the Joberg establishment in March 2020, but within hours of my booking, I unfortunately had to cancel due to reasons relating to Covid. I was promised a refund by the General Manager, but to this day, nothing has materialised. I have sent numerous emails to the General Manager in this regard.
I got a warm welcome when I arrived, the staff were super friendly, room and bathroom were clean. Bar vibe super awesome...I am definitely coming back. THANKS TO TEBOGO and her colleague for making the place feel at home away from home.
I stayed in the accommodation for a total of two days and two nights in November 2021. Apart from a broken window, we had no running water for over a day in the middle of the Corona pandemic. It was not possible to shower, flush toilet or wash hands. Most of the staff did not wear face masks. In addition, I was robbed in my room. Next to my locked suitcase I had my backpack. In the backpack was a bag with everyday items such as face creams, makeup, deodorant, perfume, sunscreens. After my day trip, I noticed in the evening that my bag was stolen. I immediately informed the staff, the owner was then contacted as well. No one cared, no one felt responsible, not even an apology. The security is a joke. The staff are unfriendly and incompetent. Thank you very much for nothing! Never again! Nice when your first days in South Africa Start like this ….…

I an recommending Curiosity Joburg to everyone. Its affordable, clean and welcoming. Everything is within reach atms, restaurants, take away joints, street chisa nyamas etc. The staff and guests are friendly
I loved the 'feel' of this place. The staff are wonderful and they have, without a doubt, the BEST barista in Joburg!! There are single rooms available as well as dorm style accommodations and I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind sharing bathrooms.
Stayed here while in Johannesburg. Great place to stay - clean place, friendly staff, great tours! I did an Inner City Tour and booked my 3 nights to Kruger with them. All the people who go there are very chill. The bar is great to hang out. They have stuff every night! If they have a braai night take part in it! The food was delicious!
Curiocity Joburg is the perfect introduction to the Johannesburg CBD. The backpackers feels like a big home for travelers either starting off or ending their trip in Johannesburg. I loved their big kitchen fully stocked with utensils, pots and basically everything you need to make a homey meals. The beds are decent. Slept well during my time. The location is great cause of all the many cafes and restaurants, however, does get quite noisy over the weekends so your sleep might be interrupted. Luckily people don't party too late so you're good after 3am. Great sleep over the weekdays as the city quiets down early. Loved the layout of private and public spaces. Plenty of areas to socialize when you're feeling the urge to mingle and quite a few to hide out to get work done or finish up a good book. The staff was great. Bar fully stocked. Can't wait to come for a longer stay and try one of their city bike tours or famous Monday Family night dinners. Thanks for having me. Cheers!…
A few of us stayed here on a side trip from our Remote Year. The hostel itself is nice with good amenities and comfortable beds and a variety of different rooms. The staff is very great, from the excitable and helpful bartenders to the friendly office staff. Best of all, Curiocity offers daily tours. I can't speak for all of them, but their tour to Soweto using the tour company Soweto and Beyond is a must. The owner/guide Bowanee (SP definitely butchered) or "Bones" is a fantastic guide and very entertaining and knowledgeable. Maboneng isn't the safest area but the hostel goes out of its way to make you feel protected and you have approximately 4 blocks of restaurants and bars you can safely visit while staying at the hostel. Recommend using Uber for going anywhere outside Fox street. Overall, a very satisfying and solid hostel experience in Johannesburg!…
