Privately owned hotel near Maboneng in Joburg. Staff very friendly and management went out of its way to help. Restaurant again good value and we had a very nice evening with Laurence the owner. Try the shrimps from Mozambique. Rooms clean and very spacious. Bed good. Loads of room again in the shower and separate toilet. Industrial feel about it all. Recommended

We stayed in the Troyeville and had a very good time, The hotel is clean and feels very safe. It has a private guarded parking, Room nr 1 is very large. Tea and coffee can be made in the kitchen. On the walls fotos and paintings from local artists. It's a sprawling industrial like building with bar and restaurant were many customers obviously are local regulars. Staff very friendly. Good feeling!

I paid almost R 700 a day for two days. When you enter into a hotel it's like you going into a scrap-yard with lots of rubbish and dust everywhere. towels not properly washed. dirty windows that cannot open. couldn't get breakfast only served at 9am and they were not ready. They was a party that I wasn't aware of that went all night.

Response from Laurence110469, Manager at Troyeville Hotel
Responded 19 Oct 2016
Dear Siyaongama We are very sorry you had a bad experience with us. We have been a residential hotel for more than 60 years. We have just completed renovations on the first floor. All the rooms on the first floor are new and a tremendous improvement on what was there before. You stayed in one of the older rooms on the second floor that is offered for R550 per night if you book through us. The towels were freshly laundered. There was always a manager on duty who could have assisted you with moving rooms or getting you new towels. You did not notify us that you were unhappy. At no time did you give us a chance to make your stay a more enjoyable one. Our website has pictures of the five new rooms on the first floor. We think they are some of the best value rooms in Joburg.

Privately owned independent hotel between downtown and the airport very near to "funky Maboneng precinct" really excellent quality and value restaurant they also have simple well appointed clean rooms upstairs that at R550 a night ($32) must be best value in town! Safe underground parking and very friendly helpful staff, waiters and management. Not luxurious but popular local bar hangout and cool arty crowd. Top tip; request a city facing room as the road facing ones get noisy from taxis from 0400am! Thanks to everyone in the restaurant too!
