On arrival there was a mix up with booking (Via Booking.com). The manor was fully booked but staff and eventually the owner rearranged the bookings to accommodate us. Payment was also an issue but they said this could be settled later. We had a ground floor garden and pool view which was an oasis amid the bustle of Johannesburg. Decoration and furnishing throughout the guest areas were top quality, lounge had an honesty bar. After a very good nights sleep the breakfast in the dining room was excellent. Host and staff were very attentive and Sandie even rearranged our evening booking at a local restaurant. Fishmonger in Illovo. If ever we are in Johannesburg again this would be our preferred stop.

Sandy/ Sandie was lovely and welcoming as were the team looking after us. Great location with easy access to anywhere in Johannesburg. Rooms - stunning, mine opened out in to the beautiful garden with birds playing amongst the flowers. Huge bath and shower, big comfy bed, hot and cold breakfast. What more do you want!

This was our first trip to Africa and we loved it.Staying at Dunkeld Manor at the end of our 6 week trip was the perfect conclusion. We had a few days in Johannesburg, to purchase some gifts for home and relax before our overnight flight. As it turned out, we couldn't have chosen a better location. Dunkeld Manor was quiet, but with easy walkable ( 10 15 minutes) access to Rosebank Shopping Centre and safe to walk around. Sandi was a great host. She had given us an upgrade and we enjoyed the large spacious bedroom with a delightful garden view, comfortable bed, good sized bathroom with separate bath and shower and twin vanity. Sandi was very welcoming and helpful, giving us good advice about where to go if you are looking for gifts, African crafts or specialised shops. She very kindly drove us to Rosebank to point out the layout and best way to walk back to Dunkeld Manor. The breakfast was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We even braved the inground pool for a quick swim, despite the winter chill. We had an overnight flight home and Sandi gave us a late checkout, so that we could do some shopping in the morning and return to rest before our transfer to the airport. a lovely place to stay at the end of our first trip to Africa. We would not hesitate to return to Dunkeld Manor, on our next trip to Johannesburg.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, even in the dead of night when the aircon malfunctioned, they came quickly and helped.
The shower was my personal favorite with enough water put down to make it very pleasant.
Breakfast was also delicious.

We just got back and I can't wait to write a review about this place. This guest house is perfect! I can't think of anything not good or average about it. We absolutely loved our room and all the public rooms in the manor, the gardens, the service, the wonderful breakfast that's cooked-specially-for-you, the kindness of the staff, the great location and Sandi's warm hospitality. Sandi goes well out of her way to make everyone most comfortable! She is absolutely the most gracious hostess that I have come across. My husband and I have travelled to over 56 countries and have stayed at several guesthouses, expensive hotels, 5-star castles in Europe and Paradores in Spain, and we rate Dunkeld Manor on top of the list. [Note that we moved out of our hotel stay at Protea Fire & Ice at Melrose Arch (Jo'Burg) to Dunkeld Manor to get some peace and quietness.] Sandi's kindness and willingness to take care of our personal needs were quite extra-ordinary. The Dunkeld Manor definitely deserves a 5-Star rating and we would unhesitatingly recommend anyone to stay there. (In response to someone's comment about the Wi-Fi, we had no problem with Dunkeld Manor's Wi-Fi, it was fast in fact. Also, the breakfast was plenty since there were slices of fresh fruits, varieties of cereals and yoghurts in addition to what you can order such as omelettes, bacons, fried tomatoes, mushrooms, etc., orange juice and several kinds of coffee.) This place is located in a beautiful tree-lined street within walking distance to Rosebank shopping center and Gautrain. Walking back from the Rosebank rooftop garden flea market on a Sunday, Sandi saw us and she made a u-turn to give us a ride. Since we had plenty of time, she also showed us the beautiful neighborhood around Jo'Burg that are not shown by tour companies! What a wonderful host! I hope to go back to Dunkeld Manor again.

If you are particular and very fussy about clean bedding, carpets and white thirsty towels and nothing but pure crisp white is of your utmost preferred standard, then look no further than Dunkeld Manor in Sandton. When you're looking for a pure personal touch, home away from home, no buzz of typical hotel environment and a bit of privacy, then this is the property. And the cherry on the cake... Warm friendly welcoming staff! What a lovely experience and oh my gosh...What an amazing comfort!!! We love it!!! Thank you Sandi!.xx

The Manor is located in a residential area and just over a kilometre from a large, modern mall. Check in and check out worked well. The wifi was good. What was most impressive was the care we received from the owner and staff. They went out of their way to assist us and to make our stay enjoyable.

Stayed in JHB for a week to attend a family function. We decided to stay different to normal and were recommended by a friend. We know JHB and liked the centrality of this location. Very close to Wanderers, Sandton, Rosebank and the freeways but in a very quiet posh location. The house is magnificent and beautifully decorated in period style but the rooms are modern, massive, light and airy with A/C , cable, and everything you can think of. Each morning breakfast is served with juice, cereals, and a cooked breakfast as well. Just as a note, someone else also pointed out, for longer stays breakfast can be a bit single dimensional but nevertheless its adequate and the chefs were lovely. Sandi is a great host and the main difference is that its not like staying in a hotel, this is like staying with friends. Nothing is too much bother and it was super comfortable and secure which unfortunately is important in JHB. Rosebank shopping is about 2 km away as is the Gautrain station for people arriving at Tambo airport making it near door to door. Melrose Arch is 10 mins away and Sandton City 15 Mins. Can't get a better location. Highly recommended for less cost than a plastic hotel. We also visited the Apartheid Museum, highly recommended as well as De Wildt Cheetah Research. Fantastic. Thanks Dunkeld Manor.

This was our second trip to Dunkeld Manor and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. It is in an excellent neighbourhood and located in a beautiful garden. The room was well appointed with a good bathroom. Everything worked perfectly! The most wonderful aspect of Dunkeld Manor is Sandy with her warm welcome, her hospitality, her attention to detail and her support in checking us out in a way that was relaxing to get to a late plane back to London. Very nice to be able to use the kitchen and the lounge and patio are great to relax in. It makes guest feel that they are returning home. I did not have breakfast but my husband found Betty charming and helpful with her very good breakfasts. We also thank Reatt and the gardener does an excellent job. My brother lives nearby and he also agrees that this is one of the most wonderful guest houses in the area. We will be looking forward to returning next year to Dunkeld Manor and to enjoying the warm, sincere and gracious hospitality of Sandy.

Good Morning 1. We can do double rooms, no problem at all. 2. We do not allow children under 12 unless by prior discussion. 3. There is a gym called Planet Fitness about 2km from us, in fact you could walk easily. 4. There is small refigerator in each room. Hope this helps Kind Regards Sandi
Answer from G4084CMsandral
Dear Maria We would live to host you at Dunkeld Manor. Our beds are extra length king size beds that we separate when needed. So we certainly can accommodate your request. Regards Sandi

Hi there I am so sorry I thought I had responded to the request. It is about 20-30 mins away depending on the traffic. You would need to take 2 rooms. Hope this helps. Sandi
