I found the perfect amount of peace away from life and the overstimulating city at the oasis, 84 on 4th. The radiant charm of the guest house is due to the vision of the inspiring and passionate owner. She dreamed of running a guesthouse as a kid and through serendipity and hard work she manifested her dream into a reality. Every detail of this home away from home is saturated in a loving and thoughtful aesthetic. This setting and the omnipresent warmth is relaxing, comforting, and disarming. The staff are instantly friends upon arrival and magically turn into family after the first night.

We felt very safe and welcomed here. The service was fantastic from the outset- the email correspondence was fast and helpful, the taxi transfer from the airport was reassuringly well organised and the Whatsapp correspondence before travel helped us be organised. The room was lovely, the breakfast fantastic, and the location worked well for us as the next street along had great restaurants and bars.

We had a wonderful five night stay at 84 on 4th. The guest house is beautiful and we loved the lovely courtyard that the rooms are located off. Our room was really comfortable and had everything we needed. Location was brilliant - felt really safe and we loved exploring Melvilles cute coffee shops and bars, as well as being a great spot to explore the rest of johannesburg from. Staff were all so friendly and helpful, couldn't recommend enough.

84 on Fourth Guest House was wonderful place to stay! The guest house is tastefully decorated and instantly makes you feel at home. The family suite was clean, comfortable and spacious. The guesthouse is walking distance to Melville bars, restaurants, and shopping. Melville is a pretty neighborhood with tree lined streets.
The morning breakfast was absolutely delicious and a great way to start the day. Meg's makes the best omelets! Zo was a delight to chat with and she gave us great recommendations on things to do and restaurants and even helped with booking a reservation. Zo and Meg's hospitality and warmth were the best part of staying at the guesthouse.
We would not hesitate to stay here again when visiting Johannesburg!

The guest house is nicely located, our room was smaller than expected but still cozy and clean. The breakfast options are good and include healthy and tasty choices for all. They were very flexible with the late check-out options (we got there around 10pm) Overall, it was a very friendly atmosphere with great service. Wish we had spent more time!

It's the perfect place to enjoy a fantastic staff that will pamper you from start to finish. The location is safe and pleasant in Melville. Anyone coming to Johannesburg must stay here!they are also in contact with a guide who, in addition to taking you on tours, can also provide shuttle services.

Very friendly staff. Healthy nutritious breakfast made-to-order with vegetarian options. Provide lights during load shedding but not Wi-Fi. Relaxing front porch and back courtyard garden. Comfy beds and blankets. Walking access to nearby bars and restaurants in a trendy neighborhood.

The guest house is nice and located in a safe area. Ask the receptionist for a guide in Soweto, we had a very positive experience with Maluse. He is a very good guide, he answered all our questions and was very helpful, he took us to less touristy places. The price for a private tour is very competitive. Definitely ask for him!

A wonderful place, with exquisite decoration, extremely friendly staff and perfect location in Melville. The family suite with 2 bedrooms is perfect when traveling with children. We stay there anytime we pass by Joburg. The breakfast is also very generous with various choices.

Not sure about the check-time, but I'm sure they'll accommodate you. They have a tour guide that will take you to Soweto and the Apartheid museum, which is amazing so you should definitely give yourself a lot of time for that museum. 84 on 4th is an amazing place, so you should definitely stay there.
