Loadshedding is a problem. That's understandable though. The facility was basically empty but there wasn't a single blanket for us. The aircon wouldn't blow heat and there was no heater available. So we stayed in a cold room on a freezing night. When asked about breakfast, we tmd that there is nothing on the premises to make breakfast. No compensation for horrible experience. Disappointing service for a good place.

We stayed 4nights. Very very quiet.
Bed nice and comfy. Bottom sheet had a hole in it. Room size good. Had a small but old mini fridge and tea making facilities. WiFi and MNet. Decor a bit dated and things in need of repair such as shower door and bath room light. Lots of wardrobe space and a mini safe Shower big enough. Lots of hot water.Gated and walked property with electric fence. Night time security on duty. Doors secured by key card.Quite a central location. We were the only guests on the property. Breakfast is made by the lady who manages the place. She charges R100 pp (£5). Bacon toast egg and frankfurters and loads of tea or coffee. She cooks on astove that is not fit for purpose as the owner doesn't seem to care about maintenance. The lady is called Semi and she does everything herself. From reception to washing and ironing gate duties etc. Very shy and humble and honest lady. She will do your laundry too so please be generous. She gets very little pay. We paid R2000 for 4nights. There are chairs and tables in the communal area to eat at. Thanks Semu for all your dedication.

I stayed one night to be in the area for business. Rooms were clean and tidy. Felt secure, which is important when traveling to Joburg. Supermarket and numerous restaurants walking distance. Was disappointed in the coffee and breakfast, expect better from a B&B than ricoffy and fried polony. Will recommend for business as rooms was good at fair price.

Soraya treated us like royalty. Relick was very helpful in guiding us where to have things printed at quick notice. Even the late delivery of our meal which we ordered from Debonairs down the road, was delivered to our room. Our last morning we were informed that our driver had arrived early, Relick was fantastic and helpful as usual.

I stayed at the Houghton GH for 2 nights in September.

The GH is great little place to stay for a short stay visit to Jo'burg. It's clean and tidy, great staff and Suraya was very helpful, arranging transport and local advice.

Sadly though, I don't recognise the photos as being the Houghton GH.. maybe i did not explore enough

This boutique hotel is charming with large rooms and bathrooms.
The garden and pool areas are great and well look after.
The service was excellent during my 4 days stay and everyone was really helpful during the event we held.
