First, the positives: you’d never know loadshedding was a thing because there are no bumpy transitions at any time.
Our room was clean, the fridge is apartment-sized, and coffee packets are provided every day.
However: this was the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We were on the first floor, facing the street, and we were there on a weekend, which meant we had to put up with the bass-heavy music from their property across the street.
The hallway door was slammed every five minutes or so during the day. There’s a supply closet nearby, which meant lots of smashing and banging noises.
The dining room doesn’t really exist: you have to make a reservation a day in advance so that they have someone there to prepare your meal.
The rooftop bar is just a roof that you bring your own alcohol to.
Thank goodness the DJ Booth seemed to be non-existent, too.
There’s no DSTV, but there is Netflix.

I wouldn’t stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at BlackBrick. The rooms were clean and stylish. What makes this hotel stand out is the different spaces they offer - we loved their conversation lounge and library, and their decor is trendy and modern. Overall it was a lovely stay, with a comfortable room, lovely furnishings, and an apartment style feel.

I’m writing out a review and sharing my experience with the Black Brick and it’s inadequate basic service and attitude from certain employees highlighting failed management system. They have no managers besides one rude lady who handles payments at front desk.

I have had no toilet paper. I had do use the same browned out towels the last week and I have to wait until Wednesday to get my room cleaned and towels changed once a week on a long term stay.

I have no dish washing liquid to wash basic dishes. No glasses despite asking continuously over the last 2 weeks.
At this point the word self catering bnb is a compliment for having spent over 20k here it’s just disgusting and disappointing. 🙏🏾

BlackBrick 2 has the potential to be a great establishment but the foundation to any hospitality establishment is "Customer Service" which is non existent at this place. In fact I don't even blame the moody, non-smiling, rude unprofessional receptionist ladies(Red Flag), I blame whoever is in charge placing them there. Clearly they have not received any customer service training and not privy to the conduct one has to display when being placed at the front desk of a hotel. Secondly the hotel has stairs at the entrance, Me I'm a young man who is capable of carrying my own bags however on arrival I saw an elderly couple also arriving and did not see any of the porters rush to their aid to assist them with their luggage up the stairs(Red Flag). I arrived at 1.15pm , check in time is at 2pm , asked to check in 45 mins early, the answer was yes but have to pay a 400R fee...absurd knowing that my room was ready and the receptionist could of clearly checked me in without the fuss. There is no "do not disturb/clean my room" hangers throughout the hotel which means you have to physically answer the knock at your room door everyday whilst you are there to either tell housekeeping not today/do not disturb/clean my room... Very annoying. And where is the manager??? no where to be seen and hard to be reached directly as all the info i searched via the net points me to the old black brick contact information or investor/purchasing a unit information here at blackbrick 2. Hotel Management needs re-evaluating. I will not be returning.

First day we stayed without electricity for a couple of hours, at night, right after our arrival. No torches were available and no Wi-Fi ofc.
Didn’t receive any excuses.
Second day we came back at night and found out our rooms hadn’t been done (one at all, second left incomplete). We were offered to move to the next one and we accepted. They then offered us one complimentary night and probably know we wouldn’t have accepted as we were tourists and people usually book their whole stay prior to arrival. Didn’t reply in a timely manner to WhatsApp messages that they started to send.
No buffet breakfast, no eating options at all after 7 pm and no fruit after 4. They provided meal vouchers and couldn’t be split throughout the day.
Slow service
Would never go back again

The level of comfort and practicality of the location make BlackBrick the property of choice when visiting Johannesburg. The breakfast here, which was included was incredibly satisfying, flavorful and tasty. I definitely preferred the breakfast here to breakfast at other restaurants in Sandton. It was a great plus to an already solid establishment. My room itself was by far one of the best I have had in many a trip to South Africa in general. The bed was just right and the balcony outside the room offered a place to do sone solid reflection and relaxation. I cannot wait to return here for the friendly and professional staff, the rooms, the food. Another lovely plus was the rooftop lounge/bar. A solitary place or a nice place to barbecue and have a bottle of wine with friends. I encourage anyone traveling to Sandton for business or Johannesburg in general to consider this place. I am definitely returning on the next trip to Johannesburg. I recommend it for sole business travelers as well as couples wanting a safe, out of the way place to stay when visiting Jozi.

Not cleaned properly, the security interogates for the whole week and ends up annoying, the breakfast team make you feel as if you are begging, the receptionist one was good the other not so,after asking her what happened to supply of bottle water she said I need to book daily to get bottle of water part of the deal if you book weekly even at premium rate you only get the first night.
To summarise, it was a depressing and sad experience.
Sad Sad place.
Worst part I've been there 7 days NOT seen a single person from management it felt they don't understand the value of paying customers.
