I have to admit one of the curiosities about Foxwood house is the tale of hauntings and ghosts - but there is none of that here. This is not your archetypal dilapidated ghost house, but instead this is a rustically romantic and bucolic getaway from the noisy and hectic city. It is in a way a quiet and relaxing escape that also has a very deep history from an interesting past that somehow intersects with the modern milieu. The staff and service is very good. I love the way Foxwood has maintained its quaint theme - maintaining its antique furniture but not leaving out modern amenities. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the furniture is well appointed and apportioned, and the bathrooms are functional and great. The gardens are mesmerizing if you are all for a fairy tale…
Depending on what you are looking for in a b&b, Foxwood is like going to your grandparent's house, old and secured.Overall stay was okay, service from the staff was lovely esp Dominic and Ntombi they were sweet and went all out to make us feel at home. Food was great, chef is really good. Beds comfortable but i feel a place need some proper cleaning.
Foxwood is an interesting establishment even though dated, service provided by staff was excellent! Rooms and bedding was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was on point and most enjoyable. Very interesting historical pictures provide most entertaining backdrop.
Beautiful setting and friendly staff. You are definitely aware of the inequalities of the past...as the history of the space is very evident by the deco. However the present speaks for itself as the food was delicious and you are welcomed by warm and hospitable staff. I loved the gardens and quiet spaces to write. We did not stay however we used the space for 3 days.
It was like staying in a magnificent farmhouse in the middle of Houghton. Full of history and quirks. We were made to feel very welcome. Lovely comfy rooms. I loved the ducks and peacocks strutting around the garden.
