If you are traveing to Johannesburgh for any reason, business, personal, with family or friends, then you stay at the Reef Hotel. Its selling points include affordability, proximity to the Airport and the Gautrain, the public transportation system that will get you where you need to go in the city, the comfortability of the rooms where you will sleep, the quality of service by those that work there, and the breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the restaurant within the hotel. It is quiet and within walking distance of many sites you may want to visit when in Johannesburgh. Affordable cabs or taxis can drive you to Mandel's House, Soweto, and the Futbol stadiums which may be a 10-15 minute drive away.

This is a good central hotel to explore the sights. It is walking distance to the Ghandi Mall and the tallest building in the city. The rooms are best described as spartan. clean and functional but no frills. There is a nice restaurant attached on the main floor and second more upscale dining room on an upper floor. These is a nice partially covered and partially open air bar on the roof. Good place to spend the night as it is well attended. Also gives a great view of the city and sunsets. close to the hop on bus route.
Appears to be a popular hotel. Well priced and close to several nice street fare restaurants.

The lobby's stylish decor and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a great stay.

The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay.

The hotel's facilities were top-notch, including a modern gym, a luxurious pool, and a delicious restaurant offering a variety of mouth-watering dishes. The hotel's central location meant that I was spoiled for choice when it came to dining and entertainment options just steps away from the property.

Overall, I cannot recommend the Reef enough. Whether you're in town for business or leisure, this hotel provides everything you need for a truly memorable stay in a prime location.

We booked a room for 2 people but got one bottle of water in our room. There were no tea spoons and only had one cup to make coffee but the room was booked for 2 adults. The safe stopped working and had to call reception twice to the issue resolved. Parking was a nightmare because security closed doors after midnight and we were not told. The service is a joke

When we checked in the initial room was smelly Howard who was an amazing reception made sure we get another room. Room service food takes forever to get to the room. I however enjoyed my Lamb chops and mash. On our last day some of our alcohol that was left in the room got missing which then made us leave the hotel. When I went for breakfast in the restaurant they couldn't do soft poached eggs I ended up not eating breakfast. It was a disappointing stay. Our room had no sufficient windows for fresh air.

The customer service sucks, they are so rude and act to people like they doing them favor for booking.
I went there to lay a complain, I could not see a manager except on appointment, I left a note and never got a call back. R5500 was taken without using the service for even just a night

During this pandemic you would think that people would be happy to have a job and be grateful to have the opportunity but for the people at the reception it is unfortunately not the case.
Do they even follow labour laws in that hotel because most of the staff work long hours 12+ hours shift and as a result they clearly don’t give a darn about their customers it’s crazy.
Breakfast is average at best... with a limited choice.. I enjoyed the lunch and dinner option...
Prepare to wait a very long time to get your room service order as it is the same member of staff that works in the restaurant that also bring the food in the room so when they’re busy.. you’re out of luck.. best to order the food downstairs at the restaurant and bring it up yourself to your room.
There isn’t any lobby to seat or lounge. The rooftop is out dated and in serious need of renovation the view isn’t great anyway.

Only positive is the room and the comfortable bed.
Shout out to the chambermaids and the chef. Special thanks to Sizwe for his professionalism and good humou. He and the chef were really lovely.
.. however, those receptionists need to get a proper training on how to deal with customers. They never smile and have this nonchalant attitude it’s ridiculous.
I stayed there for about 3 weeks and trust it wasn’t fun seeing their mean mug on the regular.. no form of respect or appreciation no hi or hellos.
I had to literally fight to get the engineering come to fix the AC in my room on the top floor.. the internet didn’t work for about a week I was there on the top floor although I had told them multiple times. I had to resort to using my data until I put my foot down and demanded to have a room change.. You would think that they would’ve thought of it as they advertise this hotel as being a 4 star..
It is not I’d give it a 2 1/2 star rating.. to be honest.

I am giving this hotel 0 for cleanliness
Hygiene 0- Security 0 - Car Parking 0
Their pillows have a smell of having been used by 1000 people. - The mat needs deep cleaning
Everything about this hotel does not justify their 4 star rating. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone.

We had a private driver, not from the hotel but Uber works great. It is about 30 minutes form the airport. I don't know if they offer tours but they are very friendly and helpful so I am sure that they could assist you with that. I haven't seen a pool in the hotel by the way...
