The room was clean, including the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. This hotel is within walking distance of many places. Friendly staff. Reasonable price. Good breakfast. Glad I stayed here. I recommend this hotel.
The perfect end to a long trip. This is easily the best Holiday Inn that I've ever stayed at anywhere, and was easily my most comfortable accommodation in South Africa. The bed was very comfortable, the rooms were modern and spacious, everything was spotless thanks to my housekeeper Patience and all of the staff was on point and did a great job. James was able to answer every question that I had and helped make my stay last week an easy one. Breakfast was amazing and the location is conveniently only 15 minutes from JNB international airport!
After a long Covid-induced break from Africa we returned to stay at the HI in Rosebank. We were very happy with all aspects - comfortable room, pleasant and responsive staff and good breakfasts (not quite as generous as pre-Covid). A special shout-out to James, Refiloe and Phionah for being such excellent hosts.
For those that know Rosebank, the Holiday Inn was once the Crowne Plaza. The property is well located in the smart Rosebank district of Johannesburg adjacent to a wide range of shops and restaurants. Access to the Gautrain is onsite for onward travel to Johannesburg CBD, Sandton, Pretoria, or OR Tambo International Airport. Arrival screening for COVID 19 was, IMO, OTT. They want to take daily temperatures from you and check you as you come out of the car park and at reception. There are also some quite intrusive questions about personal medical conditions, something I have not seen in any property within RSA or worldwide. Due to COVID protocols checkin was unnecessarily slow and bureaucratic. Again, something I have not experienced at other hotels within RSA. Staff were friendly and keen to please but too keen to please IMO. At the breakfast buffet I literally had one member of staff following me around the buffet table. It was ridiculous and I said so. Overall, this hotel is a good property keeping to the Holiday Inn standards. Rooms are well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The beds are excellent and food offerings and quality were reasonable. As ever in RSA, safety is a thing, and this hotel takes it seriously. I got the impression that the culture at this hotel was one of being determined to make an impact and win guests for when travel eventually returns to normal. This is an admirable aim but do not ignore the fact that most guests want to relax and be left alone. The GM was approachable and wanted to engage with guests personally. This can only be a good thing. I am sure this property will iron out the little annoying things and I recommend travellers stay here.…
it was a good stay and served its purpose but recognition of Elite members are beyond poor. Check in was fast and efficient but the receptionist denied any upgrade to deluxe room even if Spire Elite allows for that. There were ample deluxe rooms available but used COVID as an excuse. I even asked that I need a room with space etc but there were no honoring. I really felt that if one has the 2nd highest status and go the extra mile to book at places were members are rewarded and in return this is given... Not good at all. I was rewarded a 500 points welcome offer but that is standard for all members so not even any point awards for spire members... I really felt that I was treated like anyone else without status because NOTHING was done to honor loyal members. Will not visit again as its a waste of precious time and energy. Will go to other hotels that recognize loyal customers.…
We were the first group of guests at the hotel following the national lockdown six months ago. The staff was super friendly and visibly happy to be back at work. Generally, the deco is very beautiful with soothing colours. The food was yummy. At first glance, the room was clean and I was super happy to have an iron and an ironing board in the room. But the pillows need a deep wash. They smelled terrible. I barely slept because of those stinking pillows. :-(
Almost nothing to complain about this hotel. Breakfast had wide selection and food was very tasty. So was the a la carte. Cocktails in the bar were delicious! Also the staff in the bar and restaurant was so friendly and efficient. We want to thank especially Eugenia and the tall gentleman in the restaurant! Location connected to the mall was great. Everything was within a short distance. The Sunday Market at the rooftop is a must! Rooms were spacious and clean but the beds could have been a bit better. But over all the hotel was perfect and I will definitely stay there again. Thank You!
Service in the bar was terrible. It was virtually empty but still took 20 minutes to get served. Then I was served the wrong drink and it took a further 10 minutes to get that sorted. Had a colleague with me and we decided to order dinner, which was a big mistake. Took ages to get order taken, and then when it arrived my dish was not what I ordered and my colleague's steak, which was supposed to be medium arrived very well done and cold with the accompanying potatoes equally as cold. We ended up sending this back and by this time it was getting too late in the evening to be eating. Furthermore, the room was not as requested and had to complain to moved. The second room was great but to honest by the time I'd dealt with fiasco at dinner and the room change I was tired and hungry and just wanted to go to bed.…
I would like to thanks a Ben Kali who is working at this hotel for on going on his free time to search my sunglasses which I forgot at the barbershop. Apart of that, the hotel is very nice! Thank you once again!
Helpful staff, good buffet breakfast, bar, restaurant and wifi. Airport shuttle bus available and easy to arrange with the hotel. Attached to a shopping mall area with lots of restaurants and shops. Including a shop for the hop-on, hop-off bus, which is a great way of seeing the city it also does a Soweto tour.
