The location in the heart of Rosebank makes this complex ideal - close enough to walk to all amenities but far enough away to ensure that you aren't affected by late night revellers. Unfortunately the noise from fellow guests / residents continued late into the night and at times throughout the night until sunrise. Having stayed here previously we were also let down by the level of cleanliness, which was clearly not the same as previous visits.

The location of the apartments is great. It’s within walking distance of Rosebank mall. The concierge is helpful and friendly too and apartments are spacious . However as a long term guest of the apartment I’d appreciate they move with the times and get smart TVs installed in their apartments, also the cleaning is usually supbar to average

We had a marvelous stay. Unit is extremely well-equipped has everything you can possibly need. Noise caused by other guests is unfortunately a real concern, several times we were disturbed by other guests. Parking is alright but not great. More attention can be spent on making these units more affordable to the average person. Noise rules are not enforced and staff think nothing of guests shouting and playing loud music from their cars. Unfortunately the staff spoils the experience, they seem to think that someone like myself is not welcome here, and it was a bit of a trip spoiler. Would I visit again? Not so sure.

This was the worst stay I've ever had anywhere on this planet. Upon arrival I was given a room that firstly looks different than on the pictures, but that was not a big problem. When me and my girlfriend entered the room, we noticed that there was something wrong with the door as it did not lock.
As we did not want to sleep in an unlocked room, we tried calling reception but nobody ever answered the phone and the WhatsApp messages we sent are still not read after 5 days. We had to walk 4 floors down to get the receptionist to come and check the door and he said it's not a problem and he will send someone in the morning. We urged him to move us to another room but he didn't want to do that for us.
When I wanted to go for a smoke just before I went to bed, I noticed that we were locked inside our room. The door didn't move and as I wrote before, nobody from this hotel is reachable for their guests. We sent WhatsApp messages, we called every phone number available, but nobody answered the phone. My girlfriend had a flight to her home country at 6AM and at 4AM we still could not reach anyone, we tried screaming from the window but all I could hear was 'SHUT UP'.
This means my girlfriend missed her flight and we only managed to get in touch with the hotel at 12 in the afternoon, after we had to call out for our neighbours because we were so sick of the situation. It took them 1 hour to get us out of our room and our entire stay was 100% ruined, my girlfriend couldn't be with her family and we were stressed all night. Being locked up in such a place is a serious fire hazard but nobody seems to care about that at The Residency.
After all of this happened, I was still extremely friendly towards the people at the hotel. We haven't been rude for a second. All I expected was a simple sorry and probably a refund for the night as we were locked up and made huge costs for the missed flight.

I booked a self catering, quiet room for a work trip to Johannesburg. When I arrived I discovered the room was not self catering and it was noisy. Certainly not conducive for my work trip and misleading on the site.
The staff were unhelpful expecting me to pay extra for a quiet room. The establishment was not Covid compliant with the manager not wearing a mask at front desk. I booked another place for my Jo’burg stay and requested a refund which they refuse to give me. I’m still requesting this. Please help!

I have stayed across many residency accommodation but residency Jslliocoe has to have been my less enjoyed experience. First things first the noise levels need to be regulated, we failed to sleep due to noise pursues and during the early hours of the morning. Secondly, your staff came banging on our door asking us when we checking our, after correcting our booking as we were scheduled to sleep there another night, we had other staff come & bang on the door snd calling our room to ask the same thing! We found food in the microwave from previous guests, the sink had no soap to rinse or wash plates. Our tv was not working & after requesting reception to assist nothing was done until we left! All in all I did NOT enjog my stay & would not recommend this particular branch. Thank you

This is a great place to stay and we will come back, as we always do, despite this trip being under par. Our room was missing a hairdryer & iron, which was supplied quickly once we mentioned it. What was a problem is that they were understaffed and our room was not serviced. We do our own housework at home — going away means we get a break from this. So we felt disappointed this time.

I had an amazing stay, the room was so clean. .. And the daily housekeeping was done. You do get what is advertised on their site.
I really recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and safe stay in Rosebank/Johannesburg.

The only thing I would like the hotel to fix is the bathroom door in room 225,it makes a noise when opening it.

The room is not too bad but small and rooms are communicating with each other (as you can see on the photos, there is a door tothe next room). So you are living with your neighboor!
But the worst part is at night, The residency hosts a lot of young people, students and workers who enjoy parties at night. People were shouting, laughing, running, driving... all night long. Noone on the staff asked them to be cooler,

I emailed the management, Fom and Jenna, as there was no manager there. I have never received any reply.
They just don't care and that's really unprofessionnal.

I moved to another place. And beleive me, there are much better place around for the same price..

The Residency Jellicoe staff was very nice. They clean the property and rooms well. The problem is the noise. You were not suppose to be having parties and but a resident who lives there full time had a party every weekend. You can sleep well Monday -Thursday but Friday -Sunday you got no sleep at night because of the noise. I called security but it did not help much because they will turn the music down and then turn it back up.
