Detailed Reviews
Amanzi worked really well for us as we visited family in a nearby suburb. The neighbourhood was safe and friendly and great for early morning walks. On return, the pool at Amanzi was wonderful for a cool off and big enough to get some exercise. Perfect! Our apartment was spacious and comfortable and the sunny deck was another plus and a sociable place to hang out. We found some good eateries within walking distance and Pam was brilliant at suggesting attractions as far away as the Cape. The local Spa (also within walking distance) was superbly stocked. Another thing worth mentioning was the speed at which we could get an Uber - usually within a few minutes. Definitely a plus! Excellent internet too. Thank you Pam for all your support. We so enjoyed our chats and only sorry we missed out on our last meet up on the deck.

The Amanzi is a very warm and friendly green oasis in Craighall Park. Pam and Rob have created a wonderful place which makes you feel home away from home from day one. I stayed in one of the cottages for 7 months. The setup is such that there is the right balance having privacy and space while having the ability to meet and interact with other guests and staff. The staff is very helpful with anything you might need. The breakfast is a great start of the day, Deli and Thabang are doing a great job preparing a tasty hot breakfast (yummy mushrooms with the scrambled eggs). The cottage was cleaned every day, even the dishes were taken care of when I forgot. Lena was very careful with my dresses and other laundry. So I felt very spoilt. And the sun deck is a great place to have a drink and unwind. The Delta Park and the SPAR (together with some other shops) are at walking distance. So are a few neighborhood cafes and restaurants. Furthermore, Rosebank and Hyde Park corner are close, too. Overall, a great place to stay. Highly recommended.

Dear MariaMokum Thank you for writing such a lovely review - really so happy that you felt comfortable and at home at Amanzi - we miss you - after your 7 month stay with us!! It was great to have some catch ups on the deck, and get to know you. Thank you also for writing how central and convenient Amanzi is situated for the Park, shops and restaurants. We love being close to these facilities, yet quiet... Wishing you everything of the best, and plenty of new adventures! Pam, Rob and the Amanzi team

Due to personal reasons, I needed a place to stay at short notice back in September ‘18. By coincidence and my luck, I did find Amanzi guesthouse. I’ve ended up staying there for almost a year and a half and I’ve never made a better travel decision than ending up there. Amanzi is so much more than just another guesthouse. I did find there a true new home with the fantastic people running the place, Rob and Pam. During that extended period we have become like family and friends at the same time.
The location of the place is excellent because it’s close the Hyde Park, Rosebank and Sandton, while once inside the gates, you feel like being out in the bush because it’s so peaceful.
The gardens are stunning, the pool is great, the dogs lovely and the breakfast superb.
I will miss not being there and I am convinced anyone staying there will feel the same about Amanzi guesthouse and their hosts.
Many thanks for putting up with me for such a long time!
Jeroen

Dear Jeroen We also were the lucky ones that you found us! We have enjoyed getting to know you over the last year and a half, and you will always be like family, plus a good friend. Thank you for your generous words about Amanzi - I chuckled about your description of feeling like you are in the bush when you are inside. It does amaze me how lucky we are that the property has such a peaceful feeling. I am glad you made such good use of the pool during your months here. The dogs miss you. We miss you! We wish you well for the next steps of your journey! Pam, Rob, Max, Shadow, Deli, Lena and now Siya

I moved to Amanzi for work from August 2022 to December 2022, and I'd like to express my dissatisfaction with this guest house. It was lovely at first, but while paying Cape Town rates to stay there (rates that changed every month), I was horrified by the non-stop power outages in Craighall Park caused by faulty cables in the area and no resources to deal with them and, oftentimes, no communication; I had problems with the TV, microwave, power trips caused by the stove/oven and toaster, and my two incredibly expensive, imported pants ruined due to their in-house laundry facilities. There is little privacy, and people have come into my space in the middle of the night to tend to the stove, etc. while I'm in a robe, busy cooking. There was no prior communication to liaise with me for an appropriate time - and I think everyone can agree that 8 p.m. is not appropriate. These interruptions also happened several times during my work meetings. There was, ultimately, no accountability from Amanzi's end. I paid in good faith and expected to be reimbursed for damages incurred; however, on top of this not happening, their new tenant is still using my Netflix account after I notified them, and the owner has not responded. If you're enduring a long stay at Amanzi and you're a working professional, I wouldn't recommend this location.

Dear Journey 39304949588 To respond to your complaints: 1. I am surprised that you would complain of a month stay in a spacious one bedroom cottage, with a private outside garden area, free unlimited high speed wifi, a weekly clean, change of bed linen and towels, a load of laundry, in a prime location of under R10,000 to be expensive. The rates changed from R8700 in an open plan apartment to the rate for a cottage, at your request to move. 2. The power outages were indeed horrendous for all, and were totally unexpected. However, there was always light in each accommodation space whether an apartment or a cottage. You had an emergency light, a load shedding globe which also came on during power outages, and back up wifi for up to 4 hours. Electric Gates were on battery back up, as was the electric fence. 3. On top of power outages, we had excessive rain storms - and the rain water did indeed cause a problem with your electrical ware. My electrician was inundated with calls and i was extremely grateful that he did come to repair your cottage in the late afternoon - no artisan works to time appointments, particularly during problem times. You were certainly told that he would arrive as soon as he could. 4. Why would you give ïncredibly expensive imported Pants" to be washed for a general laundry and not take them to a specialist drycleaners? We offer a general laundry service and would certainly not have washed specialist garments had we known. 5. It is not my responsibility to log out of your Netflix account. You managed to log out very quickly once you realised it was still being used by my new tenant. 6. There are guests/tenants who have been staying at Amanzi for years. Many work from their apartment or cottage. I have 205 reviews on Trip Advisor and I am a superhost on AirBnB with a rating of 5/5. You do yourself a disfavour by writing a review like this.

I stayed at Amanzi for three weeks while looking for a more permanent home and I am sad to leave. We had a great, comfortable cottage with everything we needed. There is a beautiful pool to relax by and a deck to sit back and watch the sunset set in quiet gardens. It’s all very peaceful, very safe, very easy and very friendly. Pam could not have made us feel more looked after. We moved with two cats and every effort was made to also accommodate them, even with extra fencing. The area is also close to the beautiful Delta Park as well as Rosebank, Parkhurst and other good places. I can’t think of a better place for short or long term stays.

Staying at Pam's place was nothing short of amazing. The place is wonderfully located, it's an oasis of rest and greenery, and she makes sure that you are more than well taken care off. I absolutely enjoyed the month I was there. Everybody was lovely, Pam, Siya and the other tenants. I hope that I can return to Amanzi when I visit SA next time! I already miss it! Greatly recommend staying.

We so enjoyed our stay at this lovely guesthouse. Pam and Rob were warm, friendly and so hospitable. The guesthouse is set in a lush garden with the peaceful sound of water fountains/ponds. Very relaxing. A lovely pool with a sun deck to enjoy the quiet peaceful neighborhood. Safe, secure and very convenient to many of Joburg's top restaurants, shopping malls, galleries and parks. The rooms are well appointed, spacious with all amenities taken care of and super comfy beds and linen. Great WIFI (I was travelling with a teenager!) and full DSTV. Would highly recommend.

As expats returning to South Africa we spent a month at Amanzi guesthouse while we searched for permanent accommodation and we could not have stayed at a more comfortable and relaxing place during the transition! The accommodation is tastefully modern and extremely comfortable with a beautiful tree filled garden, swimming pool and comfortable deck. The word Amanzi means water in Zulu and is very appropriate for this guesthouse with the tranquil sound of running water ever present. The owners, Rob and Pam, are extremely friendly and helpful and will make you feel as though you’re staying in your own house. I can’t recommend this place enough whether it be for a week, month or a year!

Spent over three weeks at Amanzi in June/July. Pam was a fantastic host and her staff were brilliant. Stayed in two of the cottages on offer and they were both excellent. Quite cold in South Africa at that time of year, but there was ample heating. All expected facilities on offer and the breakfasts were divine! Would definitely stay here again, certainly felt like home for an extended business trip. Thanks again to Pam and the staff at Amanzi!

We arrived on the same flight from the U.S. Bear in mind by the time you go through customs, get your luggage, rental car and drive to Amanzi it could be 10.00am. Pam, the owner, was extremely accommodating and our room was available when we arrived. This of course depends on how fully booked they are. Never the less, I would recommend Amanzi ... please see my review from late last year. I cannot wait to go back!
