A good 10 minute trolley push but after an overnight flight it was good to stretch the legs. Good menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff pleasant and attentive. Rooms big enough but not huge. Pool small but if that is your thing, it is next to foyer and all can see.
Nice hotel with good linen and bedding will be back again Food was great too and service was quick Clean and well appointed rooms The bathroom with a bath was very clean and well laid out Parking is nice and close to entrance of the hotel and safe
It's neat and tidy, the pool would fit best with solar panels heating system in the winter. The rooms are pretty cozy, the toilet seat requires a small shower head to clear after letting go of the stool
The room was Clean and comfortable. For breakfast there was a wide selection of offer, only suggestion is Possibly offer filter coffee instead of the instant coffee provided. Staff were friendly and check in/ check out was a simple process.
This could and should be a great property. It is well located for OR Tambo Airport (about 5 minutes away) and offers convenient access to Johannesburg CBD, the East Rand, and Pretoria. Rooms are clean, reasonably sized, and well appointed. Unfortunately, the way the property is run leaves quite a bit to be desired. First up, security. This hotel is situated within the Johannesburg conurbation. Security should be front and centre at all times. Alas, this property gave a key to my room to another guest and it was only good fortune that I was in the room with the dead bolt on. When queried with reception the “explanation” revolved around the checkin in agent not registering my stay in that particular room. This is not acceptable. Then we have the breakfast farce (which other reviewers have commented on). Of course, the hotel relies on the catch all excuse of COVID; however, other City Lodge group properties appear to able to handle breakfast. For example, Bloemfontein permits guests to serve themselves from the buffet. The queues for hot food are ridiculous and if this property wishes to operate this way then they must properly resource it; i.e., with enough staff to cope with demand. Otherwise serve at the table, or just go back to letting guests serve themselves. The morning in an airport hotel is busy busy busy. Guests do not have time to stand in queues whilst one member of staff deals with each specific request of a guest and toasts to order. Please sort this out.…
All I can say is that everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until we were dropped off at the airport. The staff was A+ and 5 star. The place was spotless! Our room .. very comfortable and clean. The food was delish. We thought the best mac and cheese was in American but no.. its here! I can't say enough about the staff. Management was so helpful and accomodating. She always had a smile on her face and would help staff clean tables etc. She was totally involved. We arranged airport drop off and pick up through the hotel and even had the driver take us to the botanical gardens. The kitchen staff bent over backwards in preparing great food and making sure we had enough. Our wait staff took care of us as if we were family (Beckie) was wonderful. Even the gardener was super friendly and great to talk to about the plants around the facility.…
poor to average. Breakfast was horrendous and no water at all on my last day. I was offered one piece of bacon, requested more and was frowned upon. The pork bangers were hard, overcooked. An overall 6/10 is what i would rate my experience.
Long que for breakfast. Some mornings up to half hour wait. If you make suggestions you just get told to arrive earlier and wait your turn. Alternatively get told to grab a muffin and go! Expect to get charged for breakfast weather you can get in in time or not.
Hotel was perfectly clean and well appointed. Rooms are a good size and comfortable. Good pool area with friendly staff, Caesarman was on duty and helpful even though the hotel was on skeleton staff, he was happy to chat and make us feel welcome. Definitely worth visiting again.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. It was really nice, the area is a bit dodgy but the actual hotel was absolutely stunning. Lovely restaurant ( had a stunning lamb shank) and outside pool area, rooms were clean and the staff were stunning (especially Bheki - what a gem). The hotel is 5 minutes from the airport and close enough to use as a base for the East Rand. Would I stay there again ? Absolutely.
