We had a stunning weekend at De Oude Kraal with a relaxing day in the spa on Saturday finishing of with complimentary cake and coffee/tea in the main house for overnight visitors.
Then we were spoiled with a 5-course(more like a 6-course) fine dining for dinner in their cellar with a fireplace and candles.
Our room was beautiful with an outside and inside shower whichever we prefer and a big jet bath. We also had a fireplace inside the room as the weekend was a bit rainy we had the opportunity to lit it and it warmed the room quickly. We also enjoyed a nice buffet breakfast the next morning before we left. At De Oude Kraal you wont be hungry or not feel spoiled.
Thanx for a great stay!

My Partner Sandy and I arrived for a Breakfast and to investigate De Oude Kraal as a place for accommodation during our travels. On the arrival the greeting and service was outstanding. We where shown around and took notice of how amazing all the different buildings had been maintained and well looked after. We were then led to the breakfast area and had the option to help ourselves to a buffet breakfast with many items to choose from. a member of staff was always available and would fill any request were possible. A magnificent breakfast was had. Well worth a visit

De Oude Kraal is a convenient stop when driving from Johannesburg to Cape Town. The accommodation is spacious, clean and comfortable. Shortly after arriving there was complimentary tea and cake on the terrace. We had the 5 course tasting menu for dinner and it was delicious. Dinner was served in the main building with pre dinner drinks in the bar. The gardens and pool were well cared for. We ended with a tasty breakfast. Service throughout was excellent.

The kind of place you’ll always want to revisit.
We’ve been here many times, but this time the amount of trouble and attention to detail by De Oudekraal blew my mind. We notified them that we’d be arriving late. Dinner (and wine) was offered at 22:00 in our room, plus a bottle of wine. Food was amazing. We then forgot something in the room, but was promptly called and upon our return trip Oudekraal sent it to the N2 for us.
How amazing! Hoping I can visit this grand establishment again soon!

Stayed for 1 night as part of a longer road-trip. Rooms were as advertised and farm setting was fun. The highlight was undoubtably the 5 course dinner!! I have eaten in many wonderful restaurants across the world but this was right up there with the best of them. Each course was unique, tasty, portions very well sized and the service and timing impeccable! The food is a real treat and I would go back for that alone. The walls are adorned with their numerous awards and after eating there its not hard to understand why they have consistently high ratings.

We visited this place for the first time on our way to Cape Town on business and checked back in later in the week on our way back. We were very surprised to discover that this establishment was a 6th generation working farm that had won many awards for their food.
The venue includes very clean, very private lodgings in rooms that ooze old charm.
The food was very, very good and the overall mood is one of a quiet relaxed atmosphere, would definitely return and recommend this place

If travelling between Cape Town and Gauteng and you are not in a rush, this is the perfect place to stay over for a night or two. We attended a wedding there. Lovely rooms with all one needs. The grounds are beautiful and kept up well. Staff very friendly and helpful. It was very cold outside but inside the fireplace gave warmth. he food was outstanding, well prepared and served. There is a swimming pool (for summer heat) and a beautiful verandah to sit and relax. There is also a landing strip for small planes.

My husband & I have been stopping over on our roadtrips for 20 years. This family owned and run establishment is wonderful and more than just a place to sleep on a long journey. The food is consistently excellent and the breakfasts are so delicious and the complimentary afternoon tea is a special treat that we always look forward to. The staff are attentive and friendly. The beds are comfortable and the views from the merino rooms are relaxing and peaceful for you to enjoy your time soaking up the tranquility of the Free State veld.

One of the best meals ever. The food was different and creative and so so very delicious. I ate wayyy too much but it was so worth it. Every bite full of flavour. There were violinists, candles and the place was so beautifully decorated with the Turkish theme. Best Valentine's day ever, they made it super special. Thanks De Oude Kraal!

The food at De Oudekraal is exceptional. However, the accommodation area has an air of neglect and the chalet that we had had many flaws. The area at the entrance to our chalet had seemingly been a cement mixing spot which had not been cleared. There was also an overflowing rubbish bin. The tiles leading to the dining room had mud marks and dried leaves on it and was sangerous to walk on.
In our chalet there were no matches to start the fireplace with and it was packed incorrectly. The TV had no remote, the curtains were hemmed very badly, the seating area had no coffee table or roof insulation, the toilet door was hung badly and the bathroom basins were squeezed in and had no place to put down the soap.
All in all not good value for money.
