A well situated place to stay in Bloemfontein. The twin bed rooms a bit small . Management gave us a family room defnitly more space. Aircon rooms worked great for the heat. A nice swimmng pool to cool off

We have to travel through Bloemfontein quite often and visit this Guest House regularly. Could not fault anything ever and loved the homely nice and clean rooms. The breakfast was always good so was the staff. Loved the outside verandah area overlooking the pool. Loved the tranquility of this area.. Will be back and have suggested to many travellers already.

We were three girls travelling together, and chose this accomodation becauase on booking.com, we could get a family room so that we are all in the same room. When we arrived, this was not the case, there were no family rooms and we we informed that their info on booking.com is outdated. We didnt want to be in separate rooms but they offered us two rooms at not extra charge, next to each other and one of us had to be alone. Other than that mishap, the rooms were average at best. There are no microwaves in the rooms, which would have been convenient. The towels were not enough for two people and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. The aircon unit was very noisy. Their breakfast way expensive, R70pp is just too much. I absolutely enjoyed their swimming pool though, it was very clean.

We arrived after booking our room about 6 weeks in advance, just to be told they changed our rooms because of people making a booking after us. We arrived at 14:35 just to be told 3 our our 7 rooms are not cleaned yet. The towels has seen better days and are hard old and full of marks, when complaining we were told don't worry it's just hair dye. The other guest In the lodge was there for a wedding taking over every space drinking and loud noise. Had to phone front desk. Slamming doors continued throu until early hours of the morning. The reception people dish up breakfast before all the guest had breakfast so some guest did not receive a full breakfast. The wedding guests were allowed to go into the kitchen and make their own breakfast, walking with their pajamas infront of everyone without underwear. On Saturday, my room was not even serviced I arrived back to get ready for a function after 14:00, just to find my room as I left it. Luckily it was not messy and did it myself. I will not recommend this place at all. If it was possible we would have moved our accommodation, but time was not on our side. When complaining to the owner IT he got an attitude.

If you're looking for a B&B in Bloemfontein, AVOID Rise & Shine Guesthouse. It's well situated, off street parking, clean and comfortable BUT they practice fraud! Both credit cards that I offered for payment were apparently rejected, then I paid successfully with a debit card. Two days later, two pings on my phone, telling me that both credit cards went through as well. Two phone calls to Ronel, the manager, who assured me her boss would refund me and 18 days later, still no refund! I should be refunded R1300, which Ronel admits, as she picked up the 3 transactions on her daily log, but I've been fobbed off with lame excuses. The " boss " is in CT, she says will try and get hold of him.

I was booked in here due to its close proximity to the University (less than 2 minutes walk to the Faculty of Health Sciences) for a conference I was attending.

Room was spacious (lots of blankets and electric blanket for the cold winters in June) and shower/bathroom was simple and clean - exactly what you need after a long day. Free Wifi was easy to access and quite fast for most days.

Breakfast was standard (cereal, toast and eggs), but they went all out for this vegetarian and made special meals - did not go hungry.

The lodge appears to be in demand, so book in advance. A colleague brought her family (husband and two kids) and they found the lodging more than satisfactory. There is a large lounging area inside with TV and an inviting pool with a lounging area, for when the weather gets better.

Lovely place for conference/business travel, decently priced too. Thanks to Lynette and her team of Michelle and David for the extra care and good service. Will go back!

It is 1.35 a.m. and I am following the tales of the people in the room next to mine. The room walls are not insulated for sound I have asked management to intervene. All they did was politely ask them to stop. To no avail. This has been going on for three nights.

I can only say thank you for the old lady that is gone. Seems like everyone was working under pressure when she is around and she is always making noise. This time was different. The receptionist was very friendly her breakfast was good. I really liked it there. Even night reception is great. Wish I could have stayed longer though....to enjoy it while it was so peacefull.
